2. Anker Soundcore Spirit Dot 2

[amazon box=”B07SJFY5BK” description=” ” rating=”4.2″]

What’s great about these headphones is that they are true wireless earbuds that fit in your ear perfectly, and allow you to move around as you please in the gym. If you worry about an unreliable Bluetooth connection in wireless headphones, these wireless earbuds are perfect, because they have an LDS antenna and Bluetooth 5.0 to ensure the best connection.

It should also be noted that the Anker SoundCore Spirit Dot 2 wireless headphones are fully waterproof with an IPX7 certification, meaning they are completely sweatproof, making them perfect for the gym. Finally, their price is worth noting, at $79.99 on Amazon.

Specifications

  • IPX7 Waterproof and sweatproof
  • 5 hour battery life, 20 hours with case
  • Gripfit technology
  • BassUp technology

Sample customer review… Upgraded to these after using the Liberty Neo’s for 2 years and so far I am thoroughly impressed. The sound is better, the battery life is longer and the packaging feels much more sophisticated. Size-wise, it is about 2 times the size as my Neos are, but the feel is more sturdy and the case opens a little nicer than the Neos.

They charge a little slower but have a better battery life so it is a solid trade-off. The only knock I have here would be the wings are so comfortable in the ears but the “grippi-ness” of them also makes it a little slower to put in and remove from the pill case.

To be honest, though I feel this is a better trade-off issue to have since the ear wings do not stretch over time and pull off as the Neo system does. Call quality is even better than my Neo’s and the best part is the earbuds have true mono mode so you can use either one individually, a huge bonus when you only really want to have one bud in for chat or music and have one ear free to hear your surroundings.

Overall I would say these are a great upgrade and put many other pairs that I own to pasture. Very happy I picked these up.

3. Jaybird Vista

[amazon box=”B07R7FJQ4K” description=” ” rating=”4.5″]

Jaybird Vista is a pair of durable headphones that can stand against many different elements, whether that be dust, water, sweat, and is even shockproof, making them IPX7 rated. These headphones are great for working out due to their ear and wingtip sleeve and will be sure to securely fit in your ear while at the gym. Jaybird Vista comes with a convenient compact carrying case and has good isolation to block out surrounding sound. It also has a battery life of 6 hours, and an additional 10 hours with the protective charging case.

Specifications

  • Battery Life: 16 hours
  • Type: In-ear style
  • Driver size: 6mm
  • Audio format: 16-bit stereo
  • Noise isolation: passive

Sample customer review…

Size – (10/10) – These earbuds are tiny, and the case is significantly smaller than any of my other earbud cases, making the case actually portable in my pocket. The case also has a rope on it so you can attach it to your keys, or purse. The earbuds are very low profile when wearing them and really lock in your ears because of the design. These are designed for high activity, and should never fall out.

Bass – (9/10) – The bass in these is truly remarkable. I have only experienced better bass with one set of earbuds, but those buds are almost twice the size as these. These have a punch to them, mid-range bass is where they shine.

Sound Quality (10/10) – These are the most balanced earbuds I own. I have experienced a crisper sound with a different set of buds, but for overall balance, these win, hands down.

Lag/Delay (10/10) – JayBird claims these earbuds are lag-free, and after many tests, I have no reason to disagree with this statement. I tested Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube with Safari, Videos from my phone, the YouTube app, and the typing sound while texting (and I text really, really fast). I did notice a slight lag with the YouTube app, but I suspect this is more of an app issue and not a JayBird issue. In comparison, I have found some of my other brand earbuds to be practically unusable with video because the lag is so distracting.

Call Quality (8/10) – The call quality on these is nice, but I’ve experienced better with earbuds and Bluetooth earpieces. The microphone has a slight “tin can” sound to it, but nothing distracting.

Ease of Use (10/10) – One of my favorite things about these earbuds is you don’t have to use the Jaybird app to connect them. I have other earbuds that use a dedicated app to connect them, which is a recipe for disaster. Jaybird does provide an app that has an EQ, which is a great feature, and unlike any other earbuds, I own.

Durability (10/10) – These are IPX7 rated, meaning they are waterproof and sweatproof. However, don’t go jumping in the swimming pool just yet. These aren’t made for swimming or showering, but more so for rain and the elements. Still, the IPX7 rating is the highest of any earbuds I own.

Final Analysis – These are the best earbuds I own, without question. I have earbuds and Bluetooth speakers coming out of my ears (no pun intended), and these absolutely blew me away. My analysis shows these aren’t the best in every category, but that they consistently excel in every category, which is something I haven’t encountered until these earbuds.

4. Beats by Dre Powerbeats Pro

[amazon box=”B07R5QD598″ description=” ” rating=”4.6″]

The Powerbeats Pro by Beats by Dre is completely wireless, allowing for the most extreme workouts. The design of the headphones features adjustable ear hooks that fit securely in your ear and are completely customizable to fit your liking. As opposed to some of its competitors, the Powerbeats Pro has dual audio controls on each earbud, allowing for you to adjust the volumes and songs.

Equipped with Audio Sharing, you can even pair your headphones and a friend’s to listen to the same music, which can be good for going to the gym with a partner. Finally, the Powerbeats Pro has a fast charging time, with a five-minute charge equaling to an hour and a half of playtime.

Specifications

  • Up to 9 hours of play time
  • Lithium-ion battery
  • Ear hook, in ear
  • 5.0 Bluetooth

Sample customer review… First off, SUPER comfortable and secure. I’ve only been able to use Earhook headphones for ANYTHING even walking as normal Earphones just fall out and in-ear headphones will fall out eventually due to sweat and jaw movement.

These things are awesome cause they don’t penetrate the ear canal rather they sit and seal right outside the canal. The sounds are good for your average listener but I’m not WOWed by the base as most reviews have pointed out it’s punchy but I don’t care for it cause it just sounds good as my Anker Soundcore Spirit X, maybe a tad punchier.

Back to the fit. It’s good for big-eared people like me. I’ve switched to the smallest silicone fitting because it doesn’t seal my ear canal so I can hear everything going on around me while also enjoying the headphones. I know, that defeats the purpose of the seal but it’s an option if you’re out in public and need to know what’s going on around you.

Love the auto-off when removing from your ear. Not looking back on this purchase as expensive as it was, it’s the best earphones I’ve ever used.

  • Charging time: 2 hours
  • Battery life: 5 hours per full charge
  • 4.1 Bluetooth
  • Lithium-Ion battery
  • Charge-time 1.5 hours
  • 10 hour additional runtime

Sample customer review… Only had it for a day now but so far turning it on and sinking it up to my phone was fast and easy, placing the earbuds in the charger due to the magnet-based charger is seamless, sound quality “not an audiophile” but I had these headphones at less than half and they sound crystal clear with booming bass Bose does live up to its name in quality and build. Just wish their app had an “EQ” setting so I could change the balance a little not that you need to but like to know that I have the choice. connectivity so far great no problems

  • Continuous play: Up to 8 hours.
  • Standby time: Up to 10 days.
  • Charge time: 1.5-2 hours.
  • Weight: 26 grams.
  • Warranty : 2 years

Sample customer review… If you are deciding between these and other types of headphones, understand there are trade-offs with sound quality. However, if you are comparing it with the air or the titanium, this version definitely is an improvement over them in every way. They are lighter without losing volume which is a problem with the air. Battery life is improved over the air as well.

You basically get something slightly lighter than the air, with better battery life and sound that is now waterproof.

If you are looking at bone-conducting headphones for the first time, You can’t lose with them. I use these on a bike to keep my ears open to listen for cars. I put earplugs in my ears (provided with headphones) and use them when mowing the lawn. Half deaf family members love them. Running with them also feels safer. Finally, when talking on a phone, I get no complaints about sound quality.

7. Beats Powerbeats

[amazon box=”B0858MZFBC” description=” ” rating=”4.6″]

These wireless headphones with the Apple H1 headphone chip feature adjustable ear hooks, allowing for maximum stability and comfort while still having a lightweight feel. Great for working out, the Powerbeats are water and sweat resistant, and are durable for long workouts. Aside from these features, Beats Powerbeats offer great sound quality.

Specifications

  • Power: Rechargeable lithium-ion
  • Up to 15 hours of listening time
  • Form factor: In ear
  • Class 1 Wireless Bluetooth®
  • Dual beam-forming microphones

Sample customer review… Forget what you heard others have said about these Powerbeats, that have been negative!!! I am blown away!!! They are bigger than I thought, which is great! I have small ears and wear glasses…still no problem nor irritation. They come with three earbud sizes (including the ones that they come with).

The pictures do not do them justice, as well as the amazing sound! You can always go to change your sound quality in your settings, in music under EQ, if it’s too much for you! It will take a little time to get them comfortable, but that’s no problem. They tell you (if you read the booklet) that this could cause irritation. Is the fast charging cable too small for you? Use your iPhone cord! They charge fast and are amazing on battery life!!! I am so satisfied!

8. Aftershokz Trekz Air

[amazon box=”B075FMK7SD” description=” ” rating=”4.6″]

The most noteworthy thing about these headphones is the bone conduction technology and Open Fit design that provide the best sound quality, while still helping you to be aware of your surroundings. This can be good for working out outside, or long runs in the city, ensuring that you’re always aware of what’s around you while still enjoying your music.

Featuring a unique, wrap-around design, the headphones are now 20% lighter to allow for better movement when working out. Aside from the design, the AfterShokz Trekz Air is also sweatproof and provides 6 hours of listening time, all while coming with a silicone carrying case.

Specifications

  • Type: Bone conduction
  • Li-Ion, rechargeable
  • 2 hour recharge time
  • 4.2 Bluetooth
  • Up to 6 hours playtime
  • 183 mAh capacity

Sample customer review… I admit I was on the fence between the two models Trekz Air vs Trekz Titanium because the hardware specifications are identical on their website. After a phone call to AfterShokz customer service (which the person was super nice), I learned why the Trekz Air sound quality is so much better than Trekz Titanium. First, the earpieces were re-engineered.

This provides a better anatomical fit, but this also allowed for improved positioning of the transducers; the tiny electronic devices that convert and deliver sound waves that you hear. Additionally, the Trekz Air uses Bluetooth 4.2. This is a small update from 4.1, but the one characteristic of Bluetooth 4.2 is that it transmits data 250% faster with more reliable over-the-air data transmission and 10x more packet capacity.

In other words, more data is processed faster. These combined changes make one massive difference in the quality of sound over the Trekz Titanium.

Keep in mind that Trekz headphones are an open ear design. You will not get the same sound quality compared to an in-ear-bud or full-over-the-ear headphone. It’s kind of like listening to music and removing the subwoofer (the speaker that delivers the really deep thumping bass); basically, you are listening to the mid-range and tweeter speaker frequencies (sort of). Don’t get me wrong, Trekz Air produces a super crisp and clear sound.

The Trekz Air produces a much fuller and deeper sound compared to the Trekz Titanium, which has a hollower and even less deep sound.

Sample customer review… I loooooove these earbuds! The app allows you to customize your sound and find the earbuds if you misplace them. They fit my ear perfectly. There are 3 different size plastic parts so you can have one that fits your ear. I also like that it seals on my ear so outside noise is minimal. I like that they are attached to each other too because I had a pair that was separate and they kept falling out. I put the cord behind my head when I work out. You can wear them in front too. I even bought a second pair of these so I always have one charged and ready to go!!

Specifications

  • 5.0 Bluetooth
  • Up to 15 hours battery
  • 2 hour charging time
  • In ear
  • 8mW speaker max input power
  • Auto-off after 15 minutes of standby

Sample customer review… I have been looking at these earbuds for quite a while but was hesitant to pull the trigger because of a number of less than glowing reviews, specifically the reviews that noted they dropped connection fairly often.

But I own other Jabra headsets that I like quite a bit, so I finally purchased a pair, and I have to say that I am completely delighted with these earbuds! I’ve been using them for about a month in a variety of situations: biking, working out, on a plane, in the car, on conference calls, and they are easily the best wireless headset/earbuds that I have owned.

Great fit in my ear, easy to connect and use, really good sound, and despite what others have said the phone app is pretty straightforward and easy to use. But here is the best part, in the month that I have been using these, the earbuds have NEVER lost their connection with the phone, and I have never had any skips while playing music (using with an iPhone 7).

And as others have mentioned, this is the first headset I have used for calls where I don’t always have the volume on maximum because they are plenty loud. Very happy with this purchase.

Sample customer review… Great headphones with a great fit and awesome sound quality. Seamless connection with my iPhone. Great distance connection as well. I left my phone charging in my office and was able to walk all around the house including my back yard without losing connection. The customizable fit with the included tips is perfect for those of us who aren’t included in the ‘One Size Fits All’ category.

I used these while sitting in front of the computer editing & while going out for a light jog every morning. No problems with noise bleeding out and disturbing my wife who sits in the same room when I’m editing & no problems with the buds falling out while jogging.

The sound quality is great whether I’m listening to Audible, or podcasts (spoken words) & for music which is great considering I’ve had issues with headphones working great for one but not the other sometimes. Overall I recommend these to anyone looking for an alternative set of earbuds to the AirPods

12. Bang & Olufsen E8 Sport

[amazon box=”B0882PQ1SC” description=” ” rating=”3.5″]

Bang & Olufsen E8 Sport is ranked one of the best wireless headphones for gym workouts. It has excellent sound clarity and the overall functions are easy to use. These earbuds provide a waterproof function that allows you to use them in rainy weather, in case you decide to go for a run instead of hitting the gym.

Specifications

  • IP57 waterproofing
  • Battery life: 28 hours
  • Bluetooth 5. 1

Sample customer review… I have been a huge fan of B&O since my first B&O Beosystem stereo back in the day. It cost more than the down payment on my first house but was totally worth it when I cranked the Blues Brothers on it after a hard day at work. In later years, I had to sleep on the couch for a while when I opted for a B&O ‘optional’ stereo in a car- complete with motorized moving tweeters and stuff. B&O is legendary, and for good reason… it’s expensive, but it is justified.

These earphones are spectacular, and not because I’m a fan of the brand. The Apple earbuds are ok, at best, and expensive. I’ve tried a few others, and they just don’t do it for me. Using over-the-ear headphones can be hot, cumbersome, and not worth the hassle. These B&O earphones are a big surprise for me. I find most uncomfortable, but these were as tolerable as I think any will ever be. They stay put, without using only your ear canal for retention- which hurts. These have a retention tab that helps hold them in place externally.

Battery life is great. The microphones are unreal- everyone I’ve talked to when using these on my phone or in a Zoom conference comments how clear and dynamic the audio is. The sound is what I expected- clean, clear and no artificial bias in some frequency ranges like most brands. If you want bass-heavy, they’ll take it… but however they got the imaging and clarity to work as well as it does- it’s night and day better than the Apple ones or the three other popular brands I’ve tried. I honestly don’t think there’s anything out there that can compete so far.

13. JBL Reflect Flow

[amazon box=”B07VQJRG4R” description=” ” rating=”4″]

If you are an avid outside runner, or you tend to get sweaty during your workouts, these are the headphones for you. The JBL Reflect Flow wireless headphones are water-resistant and made out of a durable material that won’t slip out of your hands if they get wet.

These wireless headphones also have a longer battery life than most competitors. On a full charge, the battery on these earbuds will last ten hours. However, if you put them back into the case, they will recharge fully in no more than ten minutes, for another full ten hours. With the charging case, these headphones can reach a maximum of 30 listening hours. Also, with three size variations for the silicone ear hooks, these headphones will not budge at all during your workout.

Specifications

  • Sweat and water-resistant
  • Non-slip material
  • 3 size variations of silicone hooks for ear
  • 10-hour battery life
  • 30-hour battery with charging case
  • Supports both Android and iOS
  • Hands-free calling with microphone
  • 10-minute rapid full charging

Sample customer review…These buds are fantastic. I bought them to use while running, or power walking and they haven’t disappointed. I had a pair of “normal” buds that were advertised as sports, but even though they do a good job in general, they weren’t really created especially for a snug fit. This point was proven when they fell out during a run, which prompted me to buy a real exercise set, the JBLs. Surprisingly, not only have these filled the need while exercising, I find myself listening to them for more than just workouts.

The reason is because of the sound. Clear, no distortion, balanced, nice sound stage, nice tight bass, just balanced. The only thing I would say is that I do eventually start to experience ear fatigue after a few hours. This is to be expected with a snug-fitting exercise bud, however. As for other functionality, they pair quickly, charge quickly, and do not cut out. They also achieve passive noise cancellation, due to the snug fit. Overall, very happy with them.

14. JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash

[amazon box=”B07MBZTLVJ” description=” ” rating=”4.2″]

These wireless earbuds are the perfect fit for avid runners or those looking forward to an intense daily workout. With 5 hours of total battery life, as well as 4 possible recharges of the earbuds from the fully charged case, these are the perfect pair for those who need them for that daily workout but have a busy schedule.

The greatest advantage of these headphones is their bionic hearing option, created with JBL’s “TalkThru & Ambient Aware” technologies. Their TalkThru technology allows users to talk freely when they want to because the music will get softer as you start speaking. Whereas, Ambient Aware makes it safer for outside runners to be more aware of their surroundings while running by increasing the bass and the ambient sounds, creating a more immersive yet safer experience.

Specifications

  • Waterproof
  • Bionic Hearing
  • 5-hour battery per charge
  • 20-hour battery with charging case
  • Equipped with sport flex ear tips
  • Three different sized ear tips included

I’ve been on the market for a pair of true wireless for a while and have been very close to purchasing the Jabra Active 65t; but, the constant complaint of connectivity between the earbuds has scared me away. I usually forget to charge my current headsets and get very upset when I get to the gym and realize I am without music. Therefore, I wanted a pair of earbuds that can play for at least 4 to 5 hours and with a charging case capable of adding an additional 20+ hours.

The earbuds I wanted needed to have excellent sound, deep bass, well-defined highs, and warm mids. I also wanted a good volume and power. Most importantly they needed to be rugged, strong, water and sweat-resistant, and comfortable to use. These Under Armour Flash earbuds meet all of my requirements. They have a metal casing and truly they look like something I don’t mind throwing on my gym bag, and yet they sound amazing.

They do not have a volume control, so you need to set the volume using your device; however, I don’t mind doing this. In fact, I believe the fewer controls in the earbuds mean fewer things to stuff in these tiny devices, leaving more space for what really counts – The sound drivers and battery.

How to find the Best Wireless Headphones for Gym Environments

Before buying a pair of wireless headphones for the gym, there are a couple of things that you need to consider. Battery life, sweatproof capability, a secure fit, bulkiness, convenient controls, and price are an example of some of the things you need to think about if you want a great pair of headphones for the gym.

Of course, it can be hard to find a pair that is amazing in every single one of these categories, but in the end, it’s up to you to figure out which one of these things you value most. Some might place high importance on battery life for longer workouts, some might only be looking at the price tag. No matter what it is that you’re looking for, I hope that this guide to buying work-out headphones at least makes your decision a little easier.

Battery Life

Battery life can be a very important thing to some people, especially if you’re a long-distance runner or spend a lot of time training in the gym. You don’t want to constantly be charging your wireless headphones, taking away time from your exercise. With the large variety of wireless headphones on the market, some make battery life their main focus, while others do not. If this is your top priority, the Anker Soundcore Spirit Dot 2 wireless headphones might be best for you, because they offer 20 hours of playtime with the case.

Sweat Proof

Sweatproof wireless headphones are another big factor in choosing the right pair for the gym. After all, the last thing you want when you’re working out is for your headphones to fall out of your ears, interrupting your workout. This is why it’s important to see if the headphones you want to buy are water-resistant, or even better, waterproof.

The best thing to look for is if it’s IPX7 certified, which is the highest water-resistant technology. If headphones have a lower number for that, they are still water-resistant, but won’t be able to be run directly underwater. If sweatproof wireless headphones are what you value, then IPX7 certification is a must.

Secure Fit

A secure fit can be an important factor in choosing the right headphones for the gym, especially depending on what type of exercise you do. For example, if you are a big runner or do a lot of movement such as cardio, then you might want to pick a pair of headphones that fit securely. Some wireless headphones still have a bit of wire attached, which might not be the best option if security is what you want. The best opinion might be the Bose Soundsport Free wireless headphones, which have ear hooks to guarantee a secure fit.

Bulkiness

Depending on what you do in the gym, you might also value a pair of headphones that aren’t super bulky, allowing for more movement in your routine without feeling like you’re being weighed down. While some wireless headphones wrap around your head, some have hooks that cover your ears, and some just fit snugly into your ears with no hassle, you might want a pair that is as small as possible.

The AfterShokz Trekz Air might be an example of a pair that’s “bulky,” but would excel in other qualities such as the ability to be aware of your surroundings, while the Jaybird Vista headphones might be the best option, with a small side that fits snugly in your ear.

Convenient Controls

Convenient controls are another thing that a lot of wireless headphones try to achieve, with buttons on the sides of the earbuds allowing for volume and song control, or even button-free options with just the tap of your finger, such as the Apple Airpods. Some wireless headphones even have voice assistants such as Alexa or Siri so you can control your music without stopping your workout, or to make a hands free phone call while you’re on your morning run. Many wireless headphones have this option now, so if this is something you want, it won’t be too hard to find.

Finally, the most important factor to many people when it comes to wireless headphones, is the price. You probably want a good pair of headphones that have a lot of helpful features but that don’t “break the bank,” so you might be afraid of sacrificing quality for a good deal.

While a lot of the top quality wireless headphones for the gym are a little on the pricier side, a very good option for a cheap pair of headphones are the Anker Soundcore Spirit Dot 2 headphones, coming to $79.99 on Amazon. With these headphones, you still get great quality with a low price.

Conclusion

While there are so many options for wireless headphones out there, we hope that this guide and list of the best wireless headphones for gym environments make your decision a little easier. Whether you are looking for a good price or comfort, there is definitely a pair of headphones out there for everyone.
