1. Coleman Air Mattress with Built-in Pump

[amazon box=”B01B4K6ORW” description=”Coleman Air Mattress with Built-in Pump ” rating=”4.5″]

If you’re looking for a mattress that’s close to the Soundasleep Dream Series, the Coleman Air Mattress will suit your needs. Like the Soundasleep, this mattress stays firm throughout the night. Plus, this one inflates in less time! This mattress will also deflate more quickly than other air mattresses because of its quick-release valve.

Sample Customer Review…We previously had a GuestRest Elite with a built-in pump that worked well with a lot of use over 5 years before developing a leak. It did a great job of staying inflated throughout that time. I purchased this unit as the closest model for a replacement. A couple of things have changed for the worse – the cord is no longer storeable inside the pump, so it hangs out separately, but it’s still nice to have a built-in pump. The biggest surprise is the raised edge around the perimeter, which is not very obvious in the picture. Some other models promote this feature as a way of keeping your pillow from falling off the edge. That might be useful if the raised section was just on one end, serving as a headboard of sorts, but by having it around all edges, the usable area of the mattress is reduced. This is a particular problem for tall people whose feet need to hang over the bottom edge of the mattress – now there is this awkward bump at the end of the bed.

2. King Koil Queen Air Mattress with Built-in Pump

[amazon box=”B06XWG7H3S” description=” King Koil Queen Air Mattress with Built-in Pump” rating=”4.5″]

If you have back problems, this is the mattress for you! Endorsed by the International Chiropractors Association, the King Coil Queen Air Mattress will provide you with the comfort and protection that your spine needs. If you love camping, you can sleep in comfort with this mattress. Its grippy bottom will keep it in place in your tent. You want to bring an outlet with you, though! This mattress comes in queen and twin size which is perfect for how much space you have. If you’re sharing the mattress with someone else, it can hold up to 600 pounds.  It is also 20 inches high! It’ll feel like you’re sleeping in an actual bed.

Sample Customer Review…I am pleasantly surprised with this air mattress. It is in no way like the thin, wobbly ones I have experienced in the past. Mattress comes with an inside pump and inflates in less than five minutes. The queen size can accommodate two adults. While no air mattress can take the place of an actual bed, I believe this product is as good as your going to get. Its high profile makes it easy to get in and out of, and it maintained air throughout the night offering a comfortable and restful sleep. I would also like to mention that KingKoil has commendable customer service. After ordering on Amazon, I received a thank you from the company with clear instructions for the mattress’s initial use as well as two follow-up emails regarding my satisfaction. In my opinion, this shows that they back their product.

3. AeroBed Air Mattress

[amazon box=”B07SRXJFPJ” description=”AeroBed Air Mattress ” rating=”4.4″]

If you just moved into your new home and don’t have a mattress for your bed yet, the Aerobed Air Mattress will be good to use while you settle in. Many air mattresses are just the mattress and are meant for sleeping. This one has a headboard built in so if you want to read your book, play on your phone, or even just watch T.V., you can do so in comfort. You can use this every day until your home has come together. If you’re playing on your phone and you realize the battery is about to die, you’re in luck. This mattress comes with a USB port so you can plug in your phone or even your laptop if you want to do work from bed. The mattress is also self-inflating. It has a built-in pump so you can adjust the firmness for your ideal sleep.

Sample Customer Review…Just wow! I had an Aerobed for years that I used as my guest mattress and I swore by it until I saw this version. You can set it to the firmness level you want and it will automatically inflate to keep the bed at that firmness level. My current air mattress will slowly lose air throughout the night – that won’t be a problem for this one! You may need to get used to the initial shock of it inflating in the middle of the night, though. The headboard is hilarious but actually practical in keeping the pillows on the bed. The only thing that could make this bed better is if they made it in a king!

4. SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress

[amazon box=”B00FAW4O0A” description=” SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress ” rating=”4.4″]

Dreaming of an amazing sleep on an air mattress? The Sound Asleep Dream Series Air Mattress will fit your needs. Are you and your friends tired from a long day and want to go to sleep ASAP? This mattress inflates in less than four minutes! Ready to pack up? It takes the same amount of time to deflate. This air mattress has 40 air coils to keep it inflated for days. This makes it perfect for everyday use! The coolest part is that this mattress has a built-in pump. No inflating by hand here. All you have to do is push a button and you’re all set. There’s nothing worse than a mattress that sinks when you sleep, right? Well, the Sound Asleep Dream Series will ensure a good night’s sleep with its firmness. The mattresses’ 19-inch tall frame makes for plenty of room to get in and out of bed. If you sweat a lot, this mattress will resist it to prevent bacteria from forming on the surface.

Sample Customer Review…My SoundAsleep Dream Series Air bed arrived today! So first of all I’m a skeptic. I researched online for weeks before making a decision. This bed continued to pop to the top #1 position of most sites. I have a tendency to listen to poor reviews and make decisions accordingly. But I thought with 4.5 Amazon stars and 15K plus purchases it had to be good. So I finally ordered! Upon removing it from the box I did experience a scent from the material. But to me, that’s a natural thing. Everything arrived in time and all in good shape. I plugged it in and filled the bed to the max. Sat on it, bounced on it and it seemed fine. Then we left got about 4 hours. Returned and checked for leaks or air loss. My intention was to allow the bed to flex and stretch and it did. It needs to flex. I topped off with more air for more flexing and stretching. The scent has also dissappaited. The height of the bed is amazing!! You can see in the pic that the bed is the same height as the brown sofa. And I am taking this bed to Nicaragua to use for a few days then leaving the bed in a children’s (girls) home for them to use as a bed. So being that high from the floor in Nicaragua is a very good thing! Of course, I haven’t slept on the bed yet but as of now, in my opinion, this is a good purchase. Thanks to those for all the great reviews and the poor ones too. It helps a lot.

5. Intex Dura-Beam Standard

[amazon box=”B08CY4K4L3″ description=”Intex Dura-Beam Standard ” rating=”4.4″]

If you want a good air mattress, but want to spend a little less than you would for the average mattress, then the Intex Dura-Beam Standard bed is for you. This air mattress costs less than $25 so you’re not spending too much but are still getting some comfort. Since the mattress is cheaper, it is also smaller so you can bring it with you anywhere! It has an extra-wide valve, so you can inflate and deflate it easier.  This makes the Intex Dura-Beam Standard bed perfect for daily use!

Sample Customer Review…I have been sleeping on mine every night for about the last three months with no real complaints. Only one little thing. You’re likely going to want to use a sleeping bag or a pad on top for two reasons. First, the beam ridges feel funny. You have to deflate it beyond reason to make the ridges not noticeable. Second, remember your sleeping on a bed of air. It has ZERO insulating value. If your going somewhere cold and thought “this will get me off the ground and keep me warm”… Wrong. After the mattress acclimates to the ground temperature, it will be the same temperature. Both issues are solved by using a sleeping bag or by laying on one blanket and covering up with a second.

And if this is your first air mattress…Many people blow these up for the first time and can’t understand why it loses a lot of air overnight… Here’s the secret… “It’s not”. They stretch a lot more than you’d think when they first come out of the box. I blew mine up very full (borderline too full) and let it sit for two days. I blew it up again and let it sit for two days. I blew it up a third time and let it sit for two days. Then I took about 50% of the air out to soften the feel and that’s it. I have literally slept on it every single night for about 3 months with zero leaks or real complaints.

6. Coleman EasyStay 4-N-1 Single High Airbed

[amazon box=”B00HN92I6U” description=”Coleman EasyStay 4-N-1 Single High Airbed” rating=”4.4″]

If you love camping, but hate sleeping on the cold, hard ground with nothing but a sleeping bag, the Coleman EasyStay 4-N-1 is for you. What makes this mattress so unique is the adjustability. You can change it to however you want to sleep. If there are two people, and you don’t want to share a bed, these are two twin-sized mattresses. If you want to sleep in the same bed as the other person, or you just prefer a lot of space, you can attach the mattresses to create a king-size. Do you just want a tall bed, you can stack the two twins to make just that! The mattress has a “Wrap ‘N’ Roll” system that allows you to simply roll it up into its storage bag.

Sample Customer Service…This is hands down the best air mattress we have ever purchased, and we have been through a lot of air mattresses in the last 10 years! As far as function, it is nice that you can use this as 2 twins, strapped together for a larger mattress, or stacked on top of each other for a double high twin. We have not used them as a double high, only as 2 twins or strapped together side by side. When you strap them together, there is an annoying gap in the middle, but we easily solved this problem by rolling up a blanket and shoving it in the crack. These are also the best quality air mattresses we have owned. We have purchased numerous Intex and Coleman mattresses in the past. Every time we end up with a leak or hole after a handful of uses. I ended up buying this set, we used it for a 4-day camping trip, no issues. Then we moved to a different state and sold a lot of our furniture. My husband and I had to sleep on these air mattresses for 4 months before we were able to purchase a new bed. I was amazed at how well they held up! Usually, you have to add air every few nights, but these babies held air like a dream, I only had to re-inflate a couple of times over a 3 month period. We had them strapped together side by side, with a rolled-up blanket stuffed in the middle crack, and it made a darn fine substitute for a real bed. Finally, after 3 months of sleeping on every single night, with 2 small children bouncing on them daily and a dog and cat occasionally trying to jump on top of as well, we sprung a leak. I was so impressed with how well these mattresses held up and for so long, that I hopped on Amazon and bought another set! I can’t say enough about these air mattresses, we have owned a lot of different air mattresses and these are the winner!

7. AeroBed Air Mattress for Kids

[amazon box=”B00006IV33″ description=”AeroBed Air Mattress for Kids ” rating=”4.4″]

Kids love air mattresses! They’re perfect for when the kids want to play or watch a movie with the family. The Aerobed air mattress for kids offers a safe and comfortable place for the kids to sleep when they’re too young for a regular bed and have outgrown the crib. There are 4-inch safety bumpers around the bed to keep your child from rolling off. The bed is also low to the ground, so if your child does fall off, they are still safe from being hurt. This mattress also comes with these fitted sheets to make it comfortable for your little one. If your child loves to make a mess, you can wash the fleece mattress pad so they can have their fun.

Sample Customer Review…This is such a comfortable bed that it’s become the sole bed for our 9-year-old granddaughter. We have our daughter and three grandkids living with us for a while and space is tight, so we decided to try this AeroBed based on its reviews and measurements — we wanted it to fit into a tight spot and then be pushed under a double bed like a trundle for daytime storage. This fits the bill perfectly and was ultra-easy to inflate (we haven’t needed or wanted to deflate as yet.) All the girls tried it out and even fought over it for a while when it first arrived — that’s how comfy it is! (The 9-year-old won.) I have put a nice mattress pad on it, so that increases its comfort level, and our middle girl sleeps soundly and happily on it every night. A very good purchase, especially at Friday sale prices. We have never purchased an AeroBed product before, but if the need arises we certainly will stick with this brand name after our experience with this excellent-quality, comfortable kids bed.

8. Beautyrest Lumbar Lux Express Adjustable Tri-Zone Support with Built-in Quick Pump

[amazon box=”B08GMY7G9B” description=”Beautyrest Lumbar Lux Express Adjustable Tri-Zone Support with Built-in Quick Pump” rating=”4.4″]

Made with puncture-proof and extra-thick vinyl the Beautyrest Lumbar Lux is the most durable inflatable mattress on the market and can withstand the most restless sleepers. With a built-in pump, it makes inflating and deflating the bed much easier than needing to pump it by hand. In addition, the oval beam construction allows for a smooth, flat, and comfortable sleep surface so that you will not fall off. This mattress also includes a carrying bag making it easily portable and ready for any adventure!

Sample customer review…I bought 3 of these air mattresses when I first moved into my house. I needed something to sleep on until my bed was delivered and I also wanted to have some for when I have overnight guests. For 6 nights, this was my bed and for 6 nights, it did exactly what I needed it to do. In the past, I’ve had experiences where I would go to sleep on an inflated air mattress but wake up on the floor. I didn’t have that experience with this mattress. It was comfortable, sturdy and the right size (I didn’t feel like I would roll over and hit the floor). I would recommend it for anyone looking to have a decent air mattress in the back of the closet for overnight guests or if on a rare occasion, you find yourself in the dog house…LOL!

9. Lazery Sleep Air Mattress

[amazon box=”B017DP5KWC” description=” Lazery Sleep Air Mattress” rating=”4.3″]

Many people require different comfort levels for their sleep. Some people like their bed to be super soft while others like it as firm as possible. However you like it, the Lazery Sleep Air Mattress will offer it. This mattress comes with a remote control so you can adjust the firmness. It lets you pick from seven different settings so there is something for everyone. The remote has multiple uses. Not only can you use it to adjust the settings, but it can also be used for inflation and deflation! The mattress has a built-in pump that lets you use the remote for these purposes.

Sample Customer Review…I purchased the Lazery Sleep Air Mattress as a spare bed for my home, replacing a much older air mattress that I had. I inflated it and slept on it for several nights to test it and it was fantastic. I didn’t lose any air pressure, and in fact, it inflates to such a firmness that I reduced its pressure some to be more comfortable for my own tastes. Since I love a super firm mattress, this exceeded my expectations. As they point out, the first few times you inflate it, it’s stretching it to its limits and so you will find that you need to easily run the compressor a bit more. But after about two or three times, it stayed completely and totally inflated for several weeks while I was testing it. The compressor, which comes with a very nice corded remote that makes operation very convenient, also does a very good job of deflating the mattress fully, which allows it to fold into an extremely compact size. I fully recommend this air mattress and have been suggesting it to my friends.

10. Insta-Bed Raised Air Mattress

[amazon box=”B006OU4ERA” description=” Insta-Bed Raised Air Mattress” rating=”4.2″]

We all love comfort while we sleep, right? Well, the Insta-bed Raised Air Mattress has special technology to ensure that it will stay inflated at the perfect firmness. This mattress has two pumps. One is what we use for most air mattresses – a simple inflate and deflate pump. It’ll shut off after it’s done. The other pump is inside the mattress and will stay on all night and inflate as you sleep. How cool is that! With all these pumps, the mattress weighs a whopping 13 pounds which makes it convenient for bringing places. The top layer of the mattress is made with PVC material which keeps it protected from water and damage for long-lasting use.

Sample Customer Review…It did everything it was supposed to, I was very impressed by its firmness, and ability to maintain its designated state (firm, plush, soft) for as long as I wanted. This was my main bed in my 1 bedroom apartment for 8 months. Even though it did not withstand the test of my children poking needles in it…lol…it withstood the jumping games, inflation-deflation games, and whatever else they could throw at it. This bed was awesome. Don’t get me wrong, it cannot replace a traditional bed, but it is a very close and reliable substitute. The only hang-up I had is that it would not maintain a square shape for the duration of its use. It started to take a sort of oval shape, which was fine as long as it did its job. I wanted function, not style. After my kids poked holes in it, I tried several fixes and none took hold, so I will have to replace it. The price has increased since I purchased this 3.5 yrs ago, so I might be trying another product if there is a better price, but if not, I’ll be coming right back.

11. Best Inflatable Bed By Fox Airbeds

[amazon box=”B00QQVBGG4″ description=”Best Inflatable Bed by Fox Airbeds ” rating=”3.9″]

What makes this mattress special is the memory foam that is on the top. Memory foam is so comfortable to many people, so when it comes on an air mattress, it may seem luxurious. The Plush High Rise Air Mattress is a bang for your buck. Not only do you get the mattress, but it also comes with two pillows for maximum comfort. Plus, a pump for inflation. You don’t have to use the pump that it comes with, though. You can use any external pump you’d like. This mattress comes in a variety of sizes…anywhere from twin to king! There is space for all your needs.

Sample Customer Review…The description was dead on. I inflated it in 4-5 minutes then let it sit for several days. I wanted to stretch it out as well as get rid of the new vinyl smell. After 2-3 days I added more air. The new vinyl smell was almost nonexistent. After another 2 days, I deflated it which was very quick. In laying on it I thought I’d have to put a pad of some kind on it to keep the cold from coming thru. This didn’t happen. There’s a top layer on the bed that for me kept the cold out. I just used a queen sheet set and called it good. Natural you could add a mattress pad or foam pad and “plush” it up but I found it comfortable just with a sheet but I’m used to air mattresses and like them. For people that aren’t, I’d go with a pad on top.

Finding the Best Air Mattresses

You’re probably looking for comfort when shopping for an air mattress. Here’s what to look for to ensure comfort.

Air coils/chambers

Air coils are the air mattress equivalent of springs on a regular mattress. They are meant for support and help distribute weight. The mattresses in this article have up to 40 air coils, providing a lot of comfort! Look for mattresses with vertical air coils, as they will add more comfort than ones that run horizontally.

Material

For extra comfort, look for a mattress that has flocked fabric or PVC material on the top and bottom of the mattress. It will have a suede-like feel that will make the mattress top softer and less like you’re sleeping on plastic. The material on the bottom of the mattress will prevent slipping.

Comfort level

Do you like your mattress firm? Or how about soft? In between? Whichever firmness you like your air mattress at, there’s an air mattress for you. Many of them you can inflate to full firmness. Some of them you can adjust to different levels depending on how you like to sleep.

While comfort is key, there are other parts of an air mattress that are equally as important.

Pump

You need a pump that’ll work best for you. Some air mattresses need a manual pump and an outlet. Others need a battery-operated pump. Many of the newer mattresses come with a built-in pump which will allow you to inflate your mattress in the middle of the night with no hassle. Some air mattresses don’t include a pump but often say that any pump will work for inflation.

Inflation time

If you are in a hurry and need your mattress inflated ASAP or you just hate waiting, then you need an air mattress with a quick inflation time. Most newer mattresses inflate and deflate in less than four minutes.

Height

If you struggle to get in and out of bed, or just prefer a mattress that is as tall as a normal bed, then you need a tall air mattress. Many air mattresses are 18 – 20 inches high, which provides an ease to getting in and out. There are also a variety of air mattresses that are lower to the ground.

Conclusion

There are many air mattresses to choose from in the bedding world. You’ve seen our top choices and you know what to look for in the best air mattresses to give you the comfort you need. Let’s get shopping!
