It comes with a brush that is sized so that it can brush off the dead bugs on the metal rods. It has to be plugged in, so I hung it in a place where I do not have extension cords all over the place. I just hung it on a shepherd’s hook.
I plug it in at dusk and unplug it in the morning. I might use a timer at some point, but right now it only takes 5 seconds to plug and unplug. It is lightweight, easy to use, and does the job.

Every 5 seconds all you’ll hear is a zap of it killing a mosquito or other flying insect. After a couple of days, I barely noticed any mosquitoes at all.
