Headphones have become a very important part of most people’s routines. From using them while working out, to using them for some extra noise while you do some work, to using them for private calls, finding good headphones is very important.

For people who have found that they like Beats, knowing the difference between the different headphones available will be very helpful in deciding which are the better pair. Because Beats Wireless 3 came out much later than its predecessor, the difference between Beats Wireless 2 and 3 is that the Beats 3 has more enhanced features than the Beats 2.

Battery Life

There is a significant battery life difference between Beats Wireless 2 and 3. The Beats 2 only have a battery life of 6 hours and can play songs for an hour after 15 minutes of charging. Meanwhile, the Beats 3 has a battery life of 12 hours, making the battery last twice as long as the Beats 2 and it can play songs for up to 5 hours after only 5 minutes of charging.

Wireless Connectivity

Both the Beats 2 and Beats 3 are able to connect to Bluetooth. However, the Beats 3 also has Apple W1 technology. This allows the headphones to be able to have a better connection to multiple devices and enhances performance.

The sound on the Beats 3 is richer and it seems slightly more bass heavy compared to the Beats 2. Don’t let this convince you the sound is overpowering, however, because even at high volumes, neither are over the top or hard on your ears.

Color Options

The Beats 3 does lack in color options. While the Beats 2 has a wide variety of color options such as reds, blues, pink, and yellow, the Beats 3 does not offer many color options. The Beats 2 offers 9 options while the Beats 3 only offers 5.

Hook and Design

Both models have a silicon ear hook design, but the Beats 3 has an improved design. However, the Beats 3 also has a clip that can be adjusted to better fit your ear. Both headphones are sturdy and do not slip out of your ear, making them great to use for workouts. The Beats 2 comes with 3 tips options and the Beats 3 come with 4 tip options, so you can find what feels right for you.

Other Features

Both models are noise isolating which means you can go virtually uninterrupted when using either of them. This feature is also great for making calls because it lets the person you’re talking to be able to hear you, even in loud, busy places. Both models are also sweat and moisture resistant which makes them great to use outside in the rain and when you’re working out. They also both come with their own case making them easily portable.

Both also have a microphone and RemoteTalk control so that you can take calls and control your music easily. They also have battery indicator lights that will notify you when your headphones need to be charged. They look basically the same as well, although the wire connecting the pieces seems to be smaller on the Beats 3. They weigh the same amount and there is no clamping force on either model.

What is the Difference Between Beats Wireless 2 and 3: Conclusion

Both of these headphones are great models that function well. The most notable difference between the Beats 2 and 3 is the battery life. The Beats 3 does offer some other great features, however, so if you are someone who wants to utilize those, these are a great option. However, if you are someone who is only looking to play music or podcasts and want to save a little bit of money, the Beats 2 may be a great option for you.
