Tekken 7 Tier List

Tekken 7 Tier List

“YOU WIN”. These are two words you want to see when playing the great fighting game that is Tekken 7. To help potential newcomers, I came up with a Tekken 7 Tier List that will tell you exactly who the best and worst characters in the game are. Released in 2017, Tekken 7 is a video game within the fighting game genre that put the franchise of Tekken back on the main stage in the gaming world. While it is an amazing game, it’s not the easiest for newcomers to dive into because of its diverse and deep roster consisting of robots, animals, and even a Walking Dead character.

I’ve personally played this game since the third installment of the series, so I consider myself a veteran of the game. This tier list is broken up by a lettering system. “S” means the best characters in the game, followed by “A”, ”B”, “C”, “D”, and finally “E” being the worst characters in the game.

Now that we’ve established how the tier list works, let’s get down to business!

Meet the Best of the Best

In the S Tier, we have Akuma, Geese, Fahkumram, Julia, Leroy, and Steve Fox. Akuma is a guest character that comes from the gaming franchise titled “Street Fighter”. He is a fighter that excels with his damage output and counter-play. While he is difficult to learn, his damage is the highest in the game, making him the best of the best. Geese is similar to Akuma except he is even harder to learn than Akuma due to his combo difficulty. His damage is among the highest in the game and is hard to play against since he has a rather safe playstyle.

Fighters with High Potential

Marduk, King, Devil Jin, Jin, Dragunov, Bryan, Paul, Claudio, Miguel, Kazumi, and Ganryu make up the A Tier. There isn’t much that separates this list of fighters from the previously mentioned. I would just like to highlight two from the “A” tier. Kazumi is a newcomer to the series who fights alongside her white tiger. She has a defensive playstyle and her combos are easy to learn. Claudio is another character who is easy to learn but he has a play style that focuses on trying to punish the opponent for missing their attacks.

Don’t Sleep on Them

Jack 7, Eliza, Heihachi, Lee, Josie, Kazuya, Kunimitsu, Lidia, Feng, Lili, Law, Shaheen, and Alisa are the characters in the B Tier. Jack 7 is an important one to highlight on this list. His combos are rather easy to do. His playstyle is super defensive but can pack a punch when the opportunity arises. Law is a fan favorite that does flips and other gimmicks. The best Law players use more than just those moves to win. He is among the most fun characters to use in the entire game.

Fun to Play, Hard to Win

In the C Tier, we have Xiaoyu, Asuka, Zafina, Negan, Bob, Master Raven, Lars, Leo, and Nina. The characters that stick out most on this list are Bob and Negan. Bob is a character that excels in slowly chipping away at his opponent’s health while being rather easy to learn. He lacks defensive tools and punishes opponents for making wrong decisions. Negan is that iconic Negan from The Walking Dead. That alone should be reason enough to give him a try.

Just Want to Have Fun? Consider These Fighters

The D Tier has Eddy, Hwoarang, Lei, Katarina, Yoshimitsu, Anna, Armor King, and Noctis in it. Eddy is a fighter known for having a capoeira style that looks cool but isn’t the most effective. Lei is a character with several fighting stances that will catch players off guard if they aren’t familiar with fighting against him. Overall, these characters aren’t good but they can beat you if you aren’t familiar with how they work.

The Worst of the Worst

Finally, we have the E Tier. Lucky Chloe, Gigas, Kuma/Panda are the only characters in this tier. These characters are the consensus worst in the entire game but still offer fun playstyles. Contrary to her name, Lucky Chloe is not so lucky and that’s why she’s in the worst tier. Lucky Chloe is an idol character that has a rhythm mechanic tied into some of her moves.

Gigas is a giant robot that does a ton of damage but his moves are hard to land on opponents. Kuma and Panda are literal bears. Who wouldn’t want to play as bears? The truth is while that sounds cool, they are susceptible to certain combos, due to their size, which isn’t able to be done on any other character in the game.

Tekken 7 Tier List: Conclusion

At the end of the day, who you choose is up to you. This Tekken 7 tier list is just a starting point for you to refer back to when making that important decision on what character is worth trying out. I always recommend choosing a character that is the most comfortable for you. The best characters on the tier list may not feel the best when playing. The worst characters on the tier list might feel like the best to you. Find that character who has a cool playstyle and enjoys throwing down with other fighters in the arena.
