Sample customer review… These headphones are by far the best headphones I have ever purchased. To start, the battery life is amazing. I listen to music so much and these things just don’t die. Compared to my old JBL where I had to charge them constantly these headphones seem to rarely seldom need to be charged. Next, the build quality and design of these headphones are great. They feel solid and sturdy. Plus, the collapsable design feature makes them easy to store. In addition, they come with a case that helps to prevent damage in case they fall. Additionally, these headphones have amazing sound quality. I know it says these headphones don’t noise cancel but, when I work out in my loud gym I hear zero background noise. This makes it very easy to focus on lifting rather than those around me. Another big feature is the amazing call quality. With my last pair of Bluetooth headphones, most people couldn’t hear what I was saying over the phone. With this pair, however, everyone says I sound so clear even during windy days.

  • 10 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response

  • 0.7 lbs

Sample Customer Review… Swapped my Koss for the Skullcandy Crusher headset. No comparison. Skullcandy Crusher is even better than my Bose external speakers I have hooked up to my Mac. This headset picks up subtle sounds and still delivers great bass, which is adjustable. The adjustment feature and folding capabilities are awesome. I can store the headset and connectors in my Headcase Audio hard case I got from RonsElectronics.com. Everything and I do mean everything fits in the case. I travel all across the USA. You don’t always have access to charge your devices. I charged fully before leaving home. I still haven’t recharged after five weeks of periodic use which is several hours at a time. They are full over the ear. That helps reduce the noise when in a noisy environment. I have not tried using them during a phone call, however, I am confident in their performance based on everything else they have done. Big bang for your buck if you want a high-end sound for a reasonable price.

The JBL Live 500BT Around-Ear Wireless Headphones are a great Bluetooth headphone set with an inexpensive product price range. Its battery lasts up to 30 hours allowing you to enjoy non-stop listening in a day. You can add a few hours of listening with its quick charge capabilities. It can also be used and enjoyed while charging, so you can keep the listening while having it recharge. It has buttons on the earcups that make the controls easy to navigate.

Specifications

  • Over-ear
  • 50 mm driver size
  • 18 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response
  • 108 dB sensitivity
  • 0.5 lbs

Sample customer review… I got these expecting a decent but not amazing headset from JBL, simply based on all the reviews. However, I am floored by how much I like them. As other people have said they are for smaller heads, but that was the main motivator for me since I am smaller and every other headset I find that I like is far too big. These fit perfectly on my head and over my ears without slipping down or falling off, and I’ve been running with them. The battery life thus far has been awesome, I’m still working on my first charge. It connects easily to my devices with no issues. The sound quality has been amazing for me, yes they are not very bassy like some people said but again for me personally I don’t like a lot of bass so I have no complaints. Overall would buy again or recommend them to people, JBL remains my go-to brand for audio devices.

4. Cowin E7

[amazon box=”B019U00D7K” description=” ” rating=”4.4″]

The headphones sound great for their price and should definitely be considered for a top 10 based on what it offers for such a small price point. They are great for a budget to buy. However, their audio leak at high volume is noticeable and is not as good for music genres that don’t require a high base.

Furthermore, its durability is quite average compared to higher-end models. Hence these headphones are a must-buy for those who want a high-end experience of what Bluetooth headphones offer but don’t want to spend too much money on it.

Specifications

  • Over-ear
  • 40 mm driver size
  • 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response
  • 85 db sensitivity
  • 0.62 lbs

Sample customer review… I would like to say that the appearance and comfort of these headphones are great and the Bluetooth function is easy to use. I just spent the entire day traveling on planes and in airports and the battery life is very good. At one stop I did add a bit of charge to them but just to be safe type thing and I don’t believe I would have had an issue if I didn’t. They also come with a plug so that if you wanted to use them with a unit that had no Bluetooth, they would also work. Overall the noise canceling works well as long as there is a song playing. However, at that point in between songs, you can hear quite a bit of outside noise and on planes, you still get some of the plane noise. This didn’t bother me and for the price, I’m very happy. I did have a previous pair of Bose NC headphones and they canceled almost all noise but then again they were way more expensive and #2, they died after 2 years. These fit what I needed and at a price, I could be happy with.

Specifications

  • Over-ear

  • 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response

Sample customer review… I was looking for a way to block out the background noise and avoid wires while traveling. These headphones connect via Bluetooth extremely easily. I’ve used them on my Mac OS Mojave and iPhone 6 via Bluetooth. I really like the volume control on the headset. If you haven’t used active noise canceling before this is tech that blocks out the hmm of an engine or other consistent irritating sounds. They work less well on a doorbell or ambulance rolling by. That is just the nature of the tech. These work great for air travel. It’s fun to turn the ANC on and off so you can hear the difference. I’ve found the battery to last a long time and I use these a lot. haven’t timed it but it seems pretty impressive for how lightweight they are. They are comfortable and fit my average male head well.

Specifications

  • Over-ear
  • 40 mm driver size
  • 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response
  • 93 db sensitivity
  • 0.63 lbs

Sample customer review… I bought these on sale and they are great for the days you want good bass in your music. Vocals and highs are clear, the bass is good and the sub-bass is intense! Songs with really low notes sound awesome on these. Other songs get a little boost on bass but it never muddies the rest of the frequency range. Then when the sub-bass hits, it’s awesome. I thought my wired B&W P7’s had great sub-bass but these are even better. Some people may prefer a more neutral sound signature ( that’s why I have other headphones for that ) but these sound very good. Controls work perfectly and noise isolation is good (I always use these at home so I never use that feature) and it does reduce the bass a little but they still sound very good. Highly recommend them if you are looking for a very good-sounding set of headphones (wireless or wired) with the best sub-bass I have ever heard.

Still under the price point of $150, if you want headphones that are made for sound and comfort, Skullcandy is known for its sleek yet elegant headsets. The Hesh 3 is no exception. Sample customer review… I initially bought these headphones so I didn’t have to worry about earbuds and cords while traveling or doing yard work around the house. The battery lasts forever and the sound quality is great. The sound quality on the phone is excellent. All of the buttons are in one place. They fold down to a compact size IMO. I think they are easy to move around with. If you’re not trying to spend an arm and leg and want quality for your dollar, here it is. They are very comfortable as well. It’s only been 4 months and they are holding up great. This is definitely a value buy. I have no complaints at all.

Sample customer review… Very comfortable headphones (I have small ears, so this may not be as comfortable for people with big ears). For me, they fit perfectly well over and around my head. The sound is awesome. The bass is excellent while delivering good quality sound for mid and high. The price is unbelievably reasonable. Noise cancellations are not the best in the market but it gives enough to produce very good sound. Not for those who really want something to silent the surrounding but definitely good for those who just want clearer audio quality without breaking the bank.

  • Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery
  • 2-microphone call technology
  • Voice command with Google assistant, Alexa, and Siri

Sample customer review… I have multiple pairs of Active Noise Cancelling headphones but haven’t had just “on-ear” headphones. These are quite nice. I was very impressed with how well they block out sounds in the environment, even though they don’t completely surround the ear and aren’t technically “noise canceling” headphones. I’ve also been very impressed with their comfort level. Typically after anywhere from an hour to a few hours of wearing other headphones, my ears will start to “hurt” from being pressed into my head. The first time I wore these, I wore them for nearly four hours without similar discomfort. I often switch between my computer and phone and these headphones make it easy to pair/repair with both devices, that’s also a big plus for me. Overall, these are a great pair of headphones, possibly the favorite pair out of all the sets I have. I’d recommend them.

Sample customer review… Honestly very pleased with these headphones. They look, feel, and sound great. The case for them is a pretty nice touch too. I would pick these over any of my previous headphones, including Beats and Powerbeats. The noise-canceling works great and drowns out quite a lot. I have an extremely noisy fan (like the workshop kind) right next to my bed, threw noise canceling on these things, and instantly I couldn’t even tell the fan was on even when I was sitting right next to it. The same goes for a lot of other noises, even when I was testing them and trying to see how much sound I could make without hearing it. Overall, very pleased with these headphones and would recommend them.

Buyer’s Guide: Things to Consider When Purchasing a Pair of Wireless Headphones

Over-Ear Headphones

If noise cancellation is truly your thing, then it might be best to go with a pair of over-ear headphones. The all-encompassing cushioned ear cups that generally surround the whole ear, tend to do a better job of keeping outside noise from disrupting the quality of your sound. Especially great for when traveling, over-ear headphones will help tune out any outside noise so you can truly enjoy your music, audiobook, or movie. Over-ear headphones also tend to have better quality in sub-woofing bass compared to other headphones giving the listener a very surreal and surround-sounding experience.

On-Ear Headphones

The overall design of the on-ear headphones provides a listening experience with a quality of sound very similar to that of the over-ear headphones. Although the on-ear headset generally tends to let outside noise in unlike the noise cancellation quality of the over-ear headset, on-ear headsets are typically lighter providing easier portability for traveling while still being able to provide ever-lasting battery life for long trips.

Price

It’s always a good idea to stick to your own individual budget when shopping for anything but given that the average price of today’s great quality sounding headphones is typically through the roof if you can find a pair of headphones that meets your list of quality satisfaction that is anything less than $150 than you have found yourself a great deal. Do your research, check the reviews, and test the quality of sound to meet your individual taste and you’ll be surprised at what you are willing to spend on a great pair of headphones.

Going Wireless

Although on-ear and over-ear headsets are not true wireless as they still require a wire to plug in and recharge them (unlike earbuds that typically come with their own chargeable carrying case), it is still best to consider buying a set of headphones that do not require being plugged into the device you are listening through. Bluetooth technology is enhancing by the day while new innovations in smartphones and tablets are removing the headphone jack altogether.

Battery Life

It’s important to have headphones that will help you power through those long days of travel where charging is not generally accessible. That’s why this list has provided the reader with various headphone sets that typically last longer than a day.

Style

Most on-ear and over-ear headsets tend to look similar to each other with a big and bulky exterior. Maybe you want something colorful, but I would consider comfortability and sound quality over style when it comes to shopping for a new pair of headphones.

Comfortability

In my opinion, over-ear headphones would give you the most comfort as they fit around the ear as opposed to on the ear like on-ear headphones. However, everyone is different, and people have different head shapes or ear sizes, so it’s really about your own individual preference. When it comes to shopping for headphones, it’s recommended to try on different pairs to assist you in your buying decision process.

Sound

Sound quality should be your number one focus when shopping for headphones. After all, this is why you’re doing your research, to find something within your budget with quality sound. In my opinion, over-hear headphones will deliver quality sound similar to what audio engineers like to hear, with great bass and an exceptional surround sound experience. Everyone’s preference is different, however, so it’s up to you to test out different headsets to see which pair delivers the quality of sound you prefer. Consider comfortability when making your decision, but do not waste your money on something that does not deliver your preference in sound quality.

Conclusion

Shopping for a new pair of headphones is essentially like shopping for an accessory that meets your personality. Most people typically want a pair that will last them for a long time while meeting their individual preferences. This list has been narrowed down to help the shopper make a better decision with a flexible budget. Although Beats and Skullcandy are well-known brands that sit at the top of this list, I might consider going with a pair of over-ear headphones to deliver the best sound quality with comfortability that does not blow your budget.
