1. DeLonghi Dedica EC680M Espresso Machine

The Dedica EC680M espresso machine is on the more affordable end as compared to other DeLonghi machines. It is perfect if you are looking for a compact, high quality, yet inexpensive option. It features a three-in-one filter holder for a single espresso shot, a double shot, and finally for a pod.

The machine’s thermo-block technology means that it will heat up and be ready in only 35 seconds! On the side of the machine you will find the manual frother which, in a matter of seconds, can create deliciously thick and creamy foam. To avoid having the nozzle be clogged by milk, make sure to clean it and push the button for steam before turning the knob. Also, securing the water tank in place will prevent any drops of water from leaking out.

Specifications:

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Color: Metallic
  • Item Weight: 9.3lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 12.99 x 5.9 x 12.99 inches
Pros
  • Has a compact and very sleek design
  • Durable
  • It has a brewing time of less than 2 minutes
  • It’s adjustable bottom tray allows you to fit a wide range of cup sizes
Cons
  • The sleek base can easily topple if it’s hit with enough force
  • It is somewhat of a low capacity coffee machine

Sample Customer Review…Replaced my Delonghi KMix in YELLOW with this little guy. So far, so good. Delonghi fixed the issue with the coffee holder falling out of the Kmix handle by using very taut pieces of wire. I lay the coffee holder face down and then press the handle down on top of it. Otherwise, it’s a struggle. The maker does not stay on for long before turning itself off. So you want to be ready when you turn it on. It will be hot and ready in a moment. The lights on the machine blink thru a sequence and then – wham! – it’s ready! I do run some water into my cup to heat it. There is a one-cup and two-cup buttons to dispense water. Both will give you what I consider to be “too much”. Just press the button again to stop the water. The steamer portion also will not stay on too long. Do not click on that switch until you are ready because it gets hot in seconds and will need to be cooled down within a minute. If you turn it on only when you’re ready, you’ll have plenty of time to steam two containers of milk. I don’t like the extra steamer sleeve to froth the milk. I took it off – press a fingernail between the top of it and the swing arm to separate them – and just use the little black tube. Easier to clean and I feel I have more control over the steam.

2. DeLonghi Magnifica ESAM3300 Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine

Although this machine is on the more expensive end, its convenience, product quality, ease of use and coffee quality make up for the steep price point. This machine features a dual boiler that heats up the water in no time and with precise temperatures to accurately brew espressos!

It also has a rotary dial that is very easy to use, and a push-button control panel that will grind and brew the coffee depending on your preference. The magnifica features a one-touch operation which is a one-of-a-kind function that only De’Longhi machines can deliver. The programmable settings make it easy for everyone – yes, even newbies – to make the perfect espresso!

Specifications:

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Color: Silver
  • Item Weight: 23.1lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 11.00 x 15.30 x 14.40 inches
Pros
  • Has a built-in grinder
  • Its water capacity is on the larger side (60 ounces)
  • The bean container has a capacity of 14 cups
  • Very easy to use and maintain
  • It has a ‘direct-to-brew’ system
  • Fully programmable
  • Has a patented frother system
Cons
  • The funnel occasionally gets blocked with coffee grounds
  • Medium roast beans are recommended

Sample Customer Review…I’ve had this De’Longhi espresso machine for two weeks and I am very pleased. I owned a De’Longhi Nespresso machine but got tired of buying pods that are becoming increasingly expensive. This machine has a learning curve as far as adjusting the grind size (we leave ours at 4), and the strength (we keep ours in the 3:00 position mostly), etc… but once you hit the sweet spot, every cup is amazing! The best part is that it is automatic and cleans the coffee grinds out of the spout so the process is cleaner and quicker than other comparable machines (an I have owned many!). I also like having the option of trying almost infinite different types of coffee. The only con I can think of is that the coffee bean hopper is permanently embedded in the machine with an unremovable safety grid over it. This is unfortunate when you decide you want to change the bean variety and can not remove the beans that are in there already. I end up wasting them by running through then discarding them. However, that is a minuscule complaint compared to the many praises I have for this machine. My friend has owned the same machine and encouraged me to buy one. She said “once I try it I’ll never go back”… so far she is right. I do highly recommend this machine.

3. DeLonghi EC155 Espresso and Cappuccino Maker

DeLonghi’s EC155 espresso machine is on the more budget friendly side of their machines. So, if you are not trying to spend money on their more high-end models, this is a perfect option for you! This lower price point in no way translates to a lesser quality. In fact, this espresso machine is one the most well-rounded ones that you would find at a price lower than $100.

When it comes to ease of use, the EC155 checks out all the important boxes! It has a filter that is very easy to remove and a self-priming option which allows you to quickly prepare an espresso without compromising its quality or flavor. You can choose which of the three-in-one filter holders you want to use, depending on whether you want to prepare one to two shots of espresso.

The stainless steel body of this machine is of excellent quality and is constructed in a way that makes it durable. All in all, the EC155 is a great choice if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to other espresso machines.

Specifications:

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Color: Black
  • Item Weight: 6.68lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 12.20 x 19.30 x 15.00 inches
  • Capacity: 1 litre
Pros
  • The machine is compatible with both coffee grounds and pods
  • It’s on the more affordable end of their products
  • Easy to clean and maintain
Cons
  • The quality of the tamper is a little underwhelming

Sample Customer Review…Well, there is nothing I dislike about this machine. Like some have said you need to have a good coffee grinder or espresso coffee with that perfect bring consistency. I personally use 2 brands Cafe Bustello & Latazza they both work wonderfully. Now for this machine, I had a Mr. Coffee it lasted about 3 years of daily use when it quit I purchased this Delonghi espresso machine back in June of 2012 and it has made well over 2200 +++ double shots of great expresso. Not bad for a machine that cost $89.99 six & a half years ago. I purchased a 12oz stainless pitcher and a tamper which made compressing the grounds much easier so overall this has been a great espresso machine, if I’d be getting lattes every day for the last 6.5 years I could have purchased a professional machine for $8,000 plus. When this one quits I’ll buy another because I can get the coffee that works best with it. The pictures speak for this machine why spend 3 or 4 times for a machine when you can get a great shot for $90. Like anything you need the perfect grind and good tamper pressure so make sure you get them right & you’ll always get a great shot of espresso to enjoy.

Cons

Sample Customer Review…We’ve had this Moka maker for about two years. We brew three to four times daily as my wife prefers espresso over regular drip coffee. I would not consider us espresso connoisseurs, but we love the way this pot works. The carafe is pretty stained from all of the use, but the utility of the product is still as effective as the first day of use. I am surprised at how well it has held up. Our past experiences with steam and pump-style machines had conditioned me to buy a new machine just about every year. I liked this so much that I bought a second one for my in-laws. Simple to use, durable, and makes a great cup of espresso!

Update: December 2016. We’ve had the Moka pot for almost 3 years to the day. It has held up very well and I would conservatively estimate we have brewed in the neighborhood of 3,250 pots of Moka. This is the only way we make coffee now. Between years 2 and 3 I replaced the original rubber gasket with a silicon one (that can be ordered on Amazon). This last month the carafe began a slow leak where the metal ring meats the plastic. It still heats and brews, but if you forget and leave it you will end up with a puddle on the counter as it cools down. This unit has held up unbelievably well considering the amount of use/abuse it gets. I think I will retire the old girl and order a new one. I’m hoping my next one will be just as good as my first.

Rich and flavorful espresso are made easy by this DeLonghi EC702 Espresso Maker, especially since it features a 15-bar pump that will provide the necessary pressure to create the perfect taste. Its efficient heating system allows you to brew your coffee, latte, or cappuccino to a precise temperature every time!

The machine’s adjustable controls give you the chance to modify your brew until its exactly how you like it. It is perfect if you are on a tight budget but are still looking for a great machine that will deliver great coffee.

Specifications:

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Color: Silver
  • Item Weight: 11.5lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 11.02 x 9.06 x 11.61 inches
Pros
  • This machine is very easy to use, store and clean
  • It has a pre-heating cup tray on the top of it
  • It has a three-in-one filter holder
  • It is reasonably priced
  • The removable water tank can hold up to 44 ounces of water
  • The water level is visible so you will know when you need to refill it
Cons
  • Requires 1,100 watts of power
  • When the reservoir runs out of water the pump can get very noisy
  • Can not be stored in an environment with a freezing temperature

Sample Customer Review…I did a lot (about 2 months) of research before I bought an Espresso machine. I looked at several brands and models within each of the brands. I also read many reviews, which is why I am writing this review because the feedback was very helpful. When I received my machine I was very pleased with the packaging and overall appearance of the machine. I immediately descaled my machine because I bought it used and wasn’t positive how used it was. I would suggest doing this if your product is used. After the machine was up and running I pulled my first shot of espresso; I was extremely pleased. I have had my machine for about 2 months now and have been nothing but pleased. I have used it every day since I received it and I pull on average at least 4 shots a day and it always runs smoothly. I should add I was a barista at a coffee shop for 3 years so I am very critical of my coffee/espresso and wanted perfection every time; I am glad to say that’s what I receive. The machine is very simple to operate and clean. The steam wand is a little short but after reviewing several other machines similar to the one I purchased this is just the case. Of course, if you are willing to spend more money I am sure you can find a longer wand however if you are looking for a good home espresso machine you are problem going to have a small wand. Overall the wand works fine you just have to maneuver a little bit to get things working well. The only negative thing I would say about the machine is the water tank, every time I attempt to pull it out to refill or just rinse the tank I have to pull very hard and it jars the machine and I have spilled the water in the tank. There is a newer version of the machine however I bought this one because the style was more appealing to me. I hope this review is helpful to someone looking to upgrade their espresso experience.

Any coffee connoisseur who has used the DeLonghi EN750MB will tell you how happy it has made them! Not only is it sleek and stylish, the innovative controls that it features ensure a consistently great cup of espresso! Just fill the tank with water, load it with a nespresso capsule, turn it on and you are ready to go.

It allows you to make everything from lungo, ristretto and espressos to hot milk, lattes and cappuccinos – how amazing?! Don’t feel like drinking coffee today? Just use the hot water feature to brew yourself a nice cup of tea!

Specifications:

  • Item Weight: 12.60lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 10.79 x 7.60 x 13.00 inches
  • Color: Silver
  • Material: Plastic
Pros
  • Sleek and stylish design
  • Has a convenient touch display
  • Very easy to use
  • You can adjust the texture of your frothed milk
  • Features 6 pre-programmed drinks
  • Has an auto clean system
Cons
  • More expensive than similar models

Sample Customer Review…We upgraded from the Lattissima Plus and are happy with this new model. There are other great reviews here that detail the differences if you are moving from a Plus to a Pro. There are a few new features that we particularly like – though nothing really meriting the large expense of a new machine if your old one is working fine:

– There is a float switch that will tell you when you are low on water – since the reservoir is behind the machine – and the machine is much taller than the Plus model – this is a very nice little feature.

– You don’t have to wait for the unit to heat up to make your coffee selection and walk away. While the unit shows the heating up status bar – just push the option you want and walk away. Once it is ready it will auto-process your input. With the Plus model, you had to hang out around the machine warmed up (buttons would flash) then make your selection after it is ready to go.

– There is a little nozzle/adapter you can place on the Milk side – which will let you make hot water – for tea. We didn’t think we would use this – but it seems like a neat feature if you drink tea or have guests that might. We rarely use the milk frother – and could have easily gotten by with a lesser machine – but quite like having all of the options for the occasions we do want to use milk, etc.

Cons
  • You can’t customize large drinks

Sample Customer Review…This machine has been great. I’ve been using it for months and it’s been completely trouble-free. A few things I would like to point out as they are not obvious:

-The machine is very compact, narrow, and easily fits under cabinets.
-Despite its diminutive size this thing is quite heavy. Much more so than my Keurig 2.0 special edition (even with the water).
-You will probably wake people up in the next room when the machine is brewing as it’s not quiet. Noise is comparable to a blender.
-It is recommended that you clean the milk apparatus every two days when it’s filled. It disassembles easily and cleaning isn’t a big deal. I recommend putting all the little parts in the container with hot water and soap and shaking vigorously, allowing it to drain through the holes.
-The warm-up time puts the Keurig to shame. Seriously, it’s ready to go in about 30 seconds (~45 with milk).
-When you do use steamed milk you have to use the cleansing feature to flush out the wand with steam. This is accomplished by placing a mug under the wand and holding the button down next to the foam dial until it stops spewing steam and a bit of water (~20 seconds).

Overall I highly recommend picking up one of these as it makes excellent beverages (I’ve learned to enjoy lattes thanks to this).

9. DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica

If you want assured quality, the DeLonghi ESAM3300 is the surefire pick. This espresso machine is extremely popular among thousands of customers. Not only is this an espresso machine, but it also holds conical burr grinders allowing it to grind coffee beans as well.

On the espresso side of things, it is pretty much what you can expect from a DeLonghi product which is of high quality and richness. The machine is fully automatic. With just a couple of touches, it will start whirring away making it awfully convenient. Last but not least, the machine incorporates a dual boiler system which allows it to brew quite faster than the average machine.

Specifications:

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Color: Silver
  • Item Weight: 23.12lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 15.25 x 11 x 14.38 inches
Pros
  • Easy to use and clean
  • Energy efficient
  • 2 in 1 espresso machine and grinder
  • Great design
Cons
  • Expensive

Sample Customer Review…I hunted for weeks for the perfect machine. I was spending over $100/month on coffee for myself, a SAHM of three on one income. I’ve worked as a barista for years and I had to have the perfect machine or I’d keep driving thru. One major thing that drew me to this machine was that it SELF CLEANS. No portafilter, grounds, filters, shot glasses, tamp to clean. BUT it doesn’t decrease the quality of the coffee at all! Everything is still entirely customizable! All I have to do is empty the grounds 1-2x a week. I use a milk pitcher to catch my shots and catch the cleaning water so the drip tray pretty much doesn’t get dirty. As a mom of 3 under 4, I didn’t need one more thing to clean. This makes gorgeous shots and froth. My one critique is the milk is possibly TOO frothy at times but hey. It’s a small price to pay 🙂 I highly recommend this machine.

10. DeLonghi EC680M DEDICA

If you are tight with kitchen top space, this is your go to espresso machine. The DeLonghi EC680M has the quality of some top tier espresso machines while still maintaining a compact structure. This machine is extremely versatile and is able to effectively create Americanos and teas on top of espressos.

One of its greater features is its steam regulator and Thermo-block technology. By regulating its steam, it is able to maintain temperature levels perfect for developing the perfect cup. The Thermo-block technology it employs helps speed up water boiling speed significantly. In just 35 seconds, the machine is able to heat up water held in its tank.

Specifications:

  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Color: Silver
  • Item Weight: 9.3lbs
  • Product Dimensions: 13 x 5.9 x 13 inches
Pros
  • Compact
  • Fast brew times
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Some customers had leak issues

Sample Customer Review…I’ve only had this espresso maker a week so realize there could be some surprises ahead of me, never-the-less, it’s been a wonderful week! This was a replacement of a much older Delonghi espresso maker that is still functioning (10+ years) but simply wanted to upgrade.

This is easier to run, faster to make espresso, easier to clean, easier to put water in, and is a much nicer design. The only downside would be the difference in vibration. My old machine was noisier but didn’t vibrate. The EC680M vibrates enough that the glass espresso cup being filled moves! (Perhaps a heavier cup would remain in place.) Consequently, I bought a bathtub mat and cut it to size to absorb the vibrations. It wasn’t that the vibration was intolerable, I just happen to be intolerant of vibrations!

Concerning reviews that stated the Delonghi company is difficult to deal with, I’ve had nothing but fair and timely experiences. I had a coffee maker that had issues, but they dealt quickly and fairly. In short, I see a long and happy future together with my EC680M!!

Buying Guide: Things to Consider When Purchasing De’Longhi Espresso Machine

There are several factors that will go into buying the right DeLonghi Espresso for you. First and foremost, it is important that you are an avid coffee drinker and will actually use the machine. A suitable reason would be getting an Espresso machine to forgo trips to your local Dunkin or Starbucks, and brewing them in your kitchen instead of on a daily basis. Otherwise, sinking money into one would not be a worthwhile investment. With nothing else left to say, let’s dive right into it.

Durability

This one is a no-brainer. Everyone wants more bang for their buck. If your coffee machine starts breaking down just after a couple of months, there is no doubt that would not be a worthy investment. That is why it is important to check the ratings and reviews of products before settling on a machine.

Grinding

Another important facet of a quality De’Longhi Espresso Machine is the grinding capabilities. Depending on the machine you buy, a grinder may or may not be included. The grinder’s importance could not be understated as they can make or break a cup of coffee, especially when the beans are poorly grounded.

Water Tank Capacity

The capacity of any given machine can come with different sizes of water tanks. Make sure to choose a size that is most suitable for you. In an office setting, you would want the largest tank possible to avoid adding water constantly. In your own home, having a smaller tank would be more convenient and would allow you to use fresher water each time you brew.

Frothing

A key component of a cup of latte, cappuccino, or macchiato is the frothing. If this is something you find enjoyable, then you need to select an espresso machine that has this function. If you are only going to use the espresso machine for espressos, then there is no point in purchasing a frother.

Price

Like any good buyer, it is important to check the prices of machines before committing to one. Look for an espresso machine that is within your budget and you feel comfortable with quality-wise.

Clean Up

Unfortunately, as the complexity of the machine increases, the messier it will get. If you want to brew your cup and head out the door as soon as possible, it would be wise to invest in a simpler machine. Capsule espresso machines are also worth looking into as they usually require the least amount of clean-up afterward.

Size of the Machine

Additionally, the size of the machine is a crucial element to consider. If your countertop is small or doesn’t have much space, you have to consider purchasing a smaller espresso machine in order to avoid a crowded look or shoving the machine into a cupboard whenever you are not using it.

Conclusion

By now you have probably figured that we absolutely love DeLonghi’s espresso machines! Their technology and brewing abilities never fail to deliver what they promise. We have featured various price ranges to help you find the best DeLonghi espresso machine for you, without breaking your bank. Although some of these are on the higher end of prices, the quality coffee, and features that they contain definitely match their hefty price points.
