If you need caffeine like most of us do, and your fix is a refreshing iced coffee every morning, you are in the right place. We’ve got an easy step-by-step on how to make iced coffee with a Keurig in the convenience of your own home.
Now we’re not saying we can’t all still enjoy a nice iced coffee from the coffee shop down the road or the Dunkin Donuts around the corner, but you have to admit those $5 daily iced coffees can add up! Now if you want to skip those long coffee lines in the morning and save some money out of your pocket, keep scrolling.
First Grab Your Keurig
Most people who need to fulfill their coffee fix find themselves buying a Keurig for their home. The Keurig allows people to make and enjoy a coffee in an efficient manner every morning. The Keurig offers speed and convenience for most people, which is especially helpful when you are in a rush out the door.
Below, you will find a step-by-step on how to make a perfect iced coffee with a Keurig straight from your kitchen.
What You Need:
- K-Cups of your choice
- Ice/Ice Tray
- Thermos or any cup
- Milk or creamer (optional)
- Sugar (optional)
1. Set Up Your Keurig
The first step here is fairly simple. Make sure your Keurig is on and ready to go. Make sure your Keurig is filled with enough water so it can begin brewing when you hit start. Then insert your favorite K-Cup flavor.
2. Prep Your Cup
For this step, you can prep your cup one of two ways. First, you can pour the ice into a glass cup, thermos, or any travel mug of your choice. This method will have the coffee brewed directly over the ice.
The other option is to use two cups, one empty cup that you will brew the hot coffee directly in. Then take a second cup and fill it with ice. Once the hot coffee is brewed in the first cup you will pour the hot coffee directly over the cup filled with ice.
I would recommend the first option simply because it is quicker and saves you from having to wash an extra dish later!
You are now ready to brew your coffee! So just hit the cup size you are using on your Keurig and watch your iced coffee brew right in front of your eyes.
4. Flavor Time (Optional)
If you’re someone that can’t drink your iced coffee black and you need a little extra flavor, this step is for you! Add all the cream, flavor, and sugar you want to make your iced coffee extra delicious.
Looking for a Stronger Iced Coffee?
Need your iced coffee to have a stronger kick to it? Some people’s biggest concern with their iced coffee made from a Keurig is the ice diluting the coffee brew. If that is the case for you, don’t worry! We have the solution for you.
Making these coffee cubes does require a bit of extra time on your part, but they’re super easy to prep the night before so you’re not in a big rush the next morning!
Below you can find a step by step on how to make your coffee cubes:
- Brew a relatively large cup of coffee in your Keurig.
- Next, you will take an ice tray, preferably a metal or silicone tray, and pour the brewed coffee into the ice tray. (If using plastic, wait for coffee to cool down first before pouring.)
- Optional: Cover the Ice Tray with a ziplock bag to prevent other foods from seeping into your coffee cubes.
- Place the ice tray in the freezer and let sit for at least 5 hours before using.
Now you have your coffee cubes! Use these coffee cubes and brew a fresh batch of coffee right over these cubes, and add sugar and cream as needed. Then go ahead and enjoy your stronger brew of iced coffee!!
Try Two Brews:
Still not satisfied with your iced coffee? You might be in need of a stronger brew to really wake you up.
To get a stronger brew with your iced coffee, you are going to first brew a smaller ounce of coffee, anywhere from 4-6 ounces. You are going to brew that sized batch twice (2x)! It’s important to make sure you swap in a new K-Cup when you are brewing a second time. This will improve the flavor and strength of your brew since you are using a higher grounds-to-water ratio.
This method does require a bit more waste since you are using two K-Cups for one iced coffee. I would recommend using disposable or recyclable cups in this case.
Lastly, you should brew your two batches of hot coffee in one cup then pour over a separate cup of ice to really make a strong brew you can enjoy.
To Recap Two Brews: Brew 4-6 ounces of coffee in your Keurig (2x) *Important to switch the K-Cup out when brewing your second 4-6ounces of coffee*, then pour over a separate cup of ice.
