Saws

This tool has many different types for many different uses. There are all kinds of saws – table, rotary, circular, and miter. The main use of a saw is to cut an object. The saw you use will depend on what you are trying to cut and how you are trying to cut the object. Saws have sharp blades, and are perfect for cutting wood and metal. Remember to be extra careful when handling a saw as you can get seriously hurt if not used correctly.

Wrenches

This is a type of tool used to loosen and tighten bolts and nuts. Wrenches are metal and are usually a bit heavy. They come in many different sizes to accommodate the different-sized nuts and bolts that you may come across. Wrenches are one of the more durable tools you can own. Expect them to last you a long time.

Screwdrivers

This tool usually comes in two types: flathead or Phillips head. The type of screwdriver you use will depend on the type of nail you are trying to tighten or loosen. If the screw looks like it has the letter “X” at the top, you want to be using a Phillips head screwdriver. Otherwise, you want to be using the flathead. If you are assembling any kind of furniture, this is a tool you will want to have next to you during the building process.

Ladders

Ladders can vary depending on size, but usually, you will find that they are rather large. The ladder you find commonly in your home is called a stepladder. These are smaller ladders that you use in your home to reach a light or a fan on your ceiling. Ladders are to be used with caution because falling off of one can result in you being seriously injured. If you want to use a ladder, have someone hold the ladder for you so that you are safe while using it.

Pliers

This tool is similar to a wrench but the difference lies in how you use it. Pliers are used for removing screws and other small objects similar in size. You want to twist your pliers to get the screw or small object out. Pliers can also be used to get small objects out from small areas. The final use of pliers is for bending objects in a certain direction. This tool is great because of the grip that it provides. They come in both big and small sizes. Get one of each and you should be good to go.

Rulers

While you may have used these just for school, they’re also very helpful when trying to draw or cut a straight line.This tool is vital to carpenters because they like to cut squares and rectangles when making flooring. You may need one to measure the size of an object too. There are several types of rulers. You can get a yardstick which is essentially a large version of the ruler. The measuring tape is a ruler that you can roll up and resembles a roll of tape. Finally, you have the standard 12-inch ruler. These all have their uses when it comes to measuring and cutting. It doesn’t hurt to have all of these in your toolbox.

Shovels

This tool is mainly used to dig holes. Shovels can also be used to transport materials such as dirt, mulch, stones, and more. Shovels are commonly used in gardening to dig up soil to make room for plants. Digging up soil for plants to be placed in is a great example of when you could use a shovel. They are very sturdy tools and last a long while.
