My birds particularly my African Grays and Cockatiels make quite a bit of dust. I have improved my furnace/AC filters but felt I still needed more. I run these purifiers 24/7 on a fan speed setting of 2 with the plasma wave on, as my girlfriend has asthma and does not need to be breathing any dust. As you can see they only use about 8 watts of electricity at this low setting. It is almost nothing in terms of energy usage and the filter life has been excellent. They are very quiet in the 2nd setting. A little bit noisier when you run it on 3 or 4. We have one in the bedroom, one in the family room, and two in the living room where most of the birds are. The filters do an exceptionally good job of trapping the dust, down feathers, dander, and hair. I clean them every month or so. Wipe down the outside with the damp rag a little more often. Totally cleaning the unit only takes a few minutes and I’m always dropping a huge amount of dust and dirt into the garbage can from the pre-filter which traps most of the dust and particles. Then wash the charcoal filter and the prefilter, let them dry, reinstall, and you’re done.
