Two sides of the tent mesh and two sides are a solid color, so you have just enough privacy and can still see the night sky! We bought this tent for 2 people and we had ALOT of room. We were able to strap the tent onto our packs easily. We were kind of close together, though, but that is not an issue for us. Another good perk is that this tent gets HOT. I was worried since it was so cold when we were camping but I almost had to keep the doors open it was so hot in there. It really keeps your body heat in. On one rainy night, it stayed perfectly dry on the inside. We love this tent and will use it every time we go camping now!

It was light, easy to assemble and I liked the fact that I could have left the rain fly off completely yet be protected from the mosquitoes which were really out in high numbers. I ended up using the rain fly because we weren’t sure about whether we would see rain and I really didn’t want to get wet. It was very easy to roll up the rain fly on both sides so that I got a nice breeze through the side windows. I made sure to only use the light when it was outside of the tent, to try and keep the mosquitoes away. I ended up inside the tent with everything all zipped up and lots of angry mosquitoes outside. I never had any inside the tent. Also, it was a very nice touch to have the ground cover included which is perfectly sized to the footprint of the tent and is very lightweight.

It is lightweight for its very generous size, this is due to the bug netting that covers the majority of the two sidewalls and back wall. This also allows plenty of airflow for those hot days. The rainfly is great as well, it covers everything it needs to and has a pole that gives a bit of an overhang at the entrance. The tent itself has just two poles that cross in the center much like a dome tent except that it is more like a cabin tent. The tent is very spacious it gives plenty of room for five or six people. It’s like a mansion for four or fewer people. It has a double pocket on either side as well as a net that suspends the top for added storage. There is also a spot to hang a light or fan from in the middle of the storage net that is not used. Like other tents, its poles and stakes have their own bags and the main bag is big enough so that when repacking the tent it fits easily. Overall it’s a great lightweight tent suitable for spring summer and fall. Probably one of my favorite tents I have had the honor of using.

Sample customer review… I have two Hooligan 2s. The oldest one has been camping for about 4 weeks per summer for the last 10 years. It’s a big tent for a 2 man (8’x6′) with plenty of room for gear. It’s relatively light and very easy to set up (about 5 min.). Its best feature is its weather resistance. This tent is virtually rainproof. The first thing I look for in a tent is something that will stay dry. Nothing more miserable than living in a damp, leaky tent. The Hooligan has a waterproof, ripstop floor that goes up about 4″ all the way around the base. Even if there are 2 inches of water under the tent, you’ll never know it. The excellent rain fly extends down below the top of the floor, making water infiltration nearly impossible. Just last week I was camped in Northern Idaho where it rained for 15 hrs straight. I didn’t get a drop of water inside the tent (besides what I brought in on my shoes). If you want a tent that’ll keep you dry, is light, and easy to set up, you should give the Hooligan serious consideration. When I started looking for another tent earlier this year, I looked at dozens, but ultimately decided that another Hooligan 2 was my best bet.

The Vestibules are very hand as well, I use them to store dirty tools and my dirty boots and it keeps them dry. The hook on the ceiling is super handy too for hanging my lantern, and the pockets are useful for easy access stuff. It packs down small and light enough to be used as a backpacking tent, and I have no issues setting this tent up and tearing it down myself in a short time.
