Sample Customer Review…I’m a small woman and always cold when camping in the PNW. Since we can’t wait until summer to camp, I needed a sleeping bag that did it all. This one does. I can camp in the cold rain (most of the time), or the burning, sweltering sun (about a month of summer), all with one bag. It’s soft and fluffy and huge! The liner zips in so it doesn’t move or get in the way. The zippers don’t catch and it easily stuffed back in the stuff sack provided. It’s a bit big and bulky, but I knew it would be. Still not too heavy. Worth the extra 2 pounds of weight difference from my other bag (which didn’t keep me warm). Lovely bag for the price.

The elastic section on the bottom fits great on top of an inflated mattress that was made for the back of our Jeep Wrangler Sahara Edition. Being able to stick your feet out the bottom was awesome while warm, and easy to pull back into warmth when it got colder. The sown in “blanket” has hand pockets on the corners that make it easy to tuck yourself in!! Stayed toasty warm even in 32-degree weather. The vendor was fantastic too, getting it to us three days before the promised date!

Sample Customer Review… The sleeping bags were even better then we imagined. We hiked the Cumberland Gap and slept in a tent at the top of the mountain. It got down to 30 and high winds. The air was so cold, but we were so warm in these amazing sleeping bags. My biggest fear hiking is I don’t want to freeze when it’s time to sleep, we did not freeze, it kept our body heat in and inside the sleeping bag was like a heated blanket! I’m so glad we took the chance and bought these. Thank you!!!

Anyway, I have camped in all kinds of weather using this bag, cold/hot/wet/etc – it is amazing! Extremely comfortable, easy to pack out, the carrying bag is a snug fit, but the bag compresses enough to jam into it with a tight roll up. I love this bag, have also used it o top of my hammock and never get cold from below. If you want to stay warm in the woods while camping, I highly recommend this bag. Pretty light for a warm bag, easy to pack up, comfortable temperatures, and the closures are easy to operate from within. There is a nice velcro cover for the top zipper as well that helps keep it from coming open during the night. Great bag at a great price!

Buying Guide: Things to Consider When Purchasing Camping Sleeping Bags

What kind of camper are you?

Camping in all seasons is possible, but many people tend to have their own preferences about what time of the year they choose to camp in. Before buying a sleeping bag for camping, consider what season you will be camping in and what weather that would likely entail. This decision should affect what type of sleeping bag that you get based on their heat retention quality, whether they are waterproof, and their temperature ratings. Typically people tend to be either summer campers, winter campers, or 3-season campers.

Sleeping Bag Temperature Ratings You Should Know (in Fahrenheit)

If you are a summer camper, a sleeping bag with a temperature rating of 30 degrees and higher is the best option. If you are a 3-season camper, then a sleeping bag with a temperature rating between 15 to 30 degrees is right for you. If you are a winter camper, a sleeping bag with a temperature rating of 15 degrees and lower if likely what you will need.

Deciding which Sleeping Bag Shape is for you

There are multiple different shapes of sleeping bags which all offer comfort for different types of sleepers. Rectangular shaped sleeping bags have plenty of room for stretching out, and can usually be unzipped and used as a comforter as well. Semi-Rectangular sleeping bags are ideal for warmth and space too. Mummy shaped ones are much more of a snug fit when sleeping, and they are often lighter in weight than the other types and offer a lot of warmth. The Double-Bag shape is ideal for couples who plan on sleeping together.

Insulation Type

Different sleeping bags also use different types of insulation which can help influence your decision when buying one. Synthetic insulation is a more affordable type, it is non-allergenic, and it continues to insulate if in wet conditions. Down insulation is more lightweight, durable, and compresses well to save room when packing it up.

Conclusion

There are a lot of options to pick from when shopping for a sleeping bag, and a good night’s sleep is key. It is a hard decision that can change your entire trip, we hope this guide helps you find the best camping sleeping bag for you!
