1. Trailer-Aid Tandem Tire Changing Ramp

If you are looking for the perfect car ramp for maintenance purposes, such as tire changes, this ramp is what you are looking for. It allows you to easily change a flat tire, providing a 4.5” lift from the ground.

This light-weight car ramp is made from remarkably strong polymer, allowing you to safely just drive upon it. This universal car ramp is made to hold up to 15,000 pounds. It can hold anywhere from a small car to an RV or trailer.

Pros
  • Made from a strong polymer
  • Waterproof and rust-resistant
  • 15,000 lbs high lifting capacity
  • 4.5” clearance
Cons
  • Not satisfactory for every type of trailer

Sample Customer Review…I purchased this item so I could change out the tires on our 5th wheel. I’ve heard horror stories about tires shops incorrectly lifting RV’s and messing up the axles so I bought this. With the help of my wife it was effortless. One piece of advice is to make sure you are on very flat ground.

The one side of my asphalt driveway has a run off on it for water drainage so I had to put a thin piece of wood under one side of the ramp and I was good to go. The lift is perfect and now we can throw it in the back of the truck on long trips just in case. The quality is of the highest.

2. Black Widow Plastic Car Service Ramps

If you find yourself performing various maintenance tasks, the Black Widow ramps will be great for you. Giving your car clearance of 6.3 inches gives you enough room for all your maintenance necessities. This duo can hold up to 16,000 pounds measuring 35.5 x 12 x 8.5 inches.

Made of heavy-duty plastic, this ramp set is easily manageable to store and lift. The surface is rigid for excess traction, while underneath has rubber padding to avoid sliding on the ground while working.

Pros
  • Tire stopper at the end
  • Gentle slope
  • High weight capacity of 16,000lbs
  • Great traction
Cons
  • Not the most durable

Sample Customer Review…I always change my own oil. I just purchased a Cayman and found the car sits so low to the ground that my floor jack is too tall to fit underneath it to jack it up. Rather than purchase another, more expensive “low profile” floor jack, I got these instead. I put them under the rear wheels and back up onto them.

Easy, peasy! Both sides are up. Lots of space for me to get under the car and change the oil. They seem sturdy enough. No bulging or wiggling or anything. There are like a rock. I use my jacks stands as safety backups like I always do. I don’t trust my life to a floor jack. I guess I don’t trust my life to plastic either.

3. RhinoGear RhinoRamps

Looking for a lightweight pair of ramps? These RhinoGear set of car ramps are made from a sturdy foam material to avoid scratches on your garage. These lightweight car ramps can be universally used for cars with shorter front ends and can hold a tire width of 8 inches and a car weighing up to 1,500 pounds while providing a 17-degree incline.

The surface is a larger size, perfect for gripping the ground and tires firmly. Typically, the size of these car ramps is more appropriate for smaller vehicles, such as small sports cars with the tire width measuring only a maximum of 8 inches.

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Anti-scuff
  • Can grip the ground well
Cons
  • Suitable for only smaller cars

Sample Customer Review…These are great because they are fairly light weight but yet have awesome weight capacity. I recommend putting some grip tape on the ramp part because the plastic gets slippery if your tires are wet but other than that, these are awesome. They do take up some space in the garage because they are not stackable.

If they made them stackable it would take up half the room which is nice but they are much better than the old heavy steel ramps and they tend to slide a little when you pull the car up so be careful with that but if your on asphalt it is pretty stable. I ALWAYS put a couple of safety jack stands whenever I am using ramps just in case because you just never know……SAFETY FIRST!!!! You won’t go wrong though if you get these ramps. Good price for a good product!!!!

4. Race Ramps RR-40

The Race Ramps RR-40 are the perfect ramps if you are looking to use them for low clearance sports cars and can hold up to 6,000 pounds per set. These ramps will lift your car a full 7 inches off the ground making it easily accessible to get under. The raised lip on these ramps alert the driver when they have reached the top making sure the tires are secured. Lastly, these ramps are very lightweight so they can be transported easily and skid free.

Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to transport
  • Won’t mark up floors
Cons
  • Only used for small cars

Sample Customer Review…These things work like a champ! I was a bit leery of spending that much money just for a set of ramps, but I’m glad I did. When I received them I almost thought I had been sent the wrong thing by the weight of the box. I was blown away by how light these things are, and they are definitely tough! I’ve used them close to a dozen times now, no issues whatsoever.

The texture of them makes it easy for tires to grip when pulling a vehicle onto them. The handle on the back of each one makes it super easy to snatch up and move them wherever your heart desires. Hell you could toss them on your roof if you want, no big deal! I haven’t put anything large on them like my F-250 but I have had multiple full size and mid size cars on them. If you need a new set of ramps, do yourself a favor and grab a set of these!

These ramps are very sturdy and I don’t think twice when I crawl under my Subaru Forester and Saturn Vue. There are plenty of full ground to top ramp supports that make them very strong. These things are nice and wide which allows for my large truck tires to fit on them comfortably and provide ample amount of room now to allow me to change the oil to my truck.

7. Ramps Low Profile Plastic Service Ramps

This pair of discount ramps are great if you are looking for a cheaper pair of plastic ramps. They are a good choice for low profile service ramps. Measuring out to 27.5 x 7.8 x 2.5 inches, they can hold a capacity of 4,400. It has a 9.05-degree slope created for lower cars. It has a honey-combed style texture to help avoid moisture build-up for easier cleanup.

Pros
  • Good for low profile cars
  • Easy to clean
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Only satisfies low profile cars (2.5 in)

Sample Customer Review…I used these for an oil change on the series 2 2014 scion TC. It has a super low stance stock so these cleared by only an inch with the bumper. Totally useful, just be careful aligning both wheels, I almost went over on one side. They seemed sturdy enough that i didn’t need to (But did anyway) put a jack to support the car up. Good 40 bucks spent for something ill get a ton of useage out of!

8. Discount Ramps Low Profile Plastic Car Service Ramps

These ramps are perfect to assist with low profile cars, raising it around 2.5 inches which is just enough space for you to get under the car. This ramp can hold approximately 4,400 pounds due to the strength of the materials it is made with. The honeycomb design from these ramps helps it avoid trapped moisture and gives the ramps great strength. Lastly, the ramp included tire stop ends which helps with extra security for keeping your car in place.

Pros
  • Supports up to 4,400 pounds
  • Easy to use
  • Keeps tires secure
Cons
  • Only suitable for low profile cars

Sample Customer Review…These are the only ramps that I can find that fully clear the front splitter on a C7 Corvette Grand Sport/ Stingray with splitter. My C7 is also lowered on the stock bolts so I needed a low profile ramp solution to help me get the jack underneath from the front….basically giving me a little lift so that the jack will clear the front splitter.

With these ramps I can slide the jack right under the front splitter and lift the Corvette right from the front chassis support structure making it so easy to lift the car! Awesome ramps!

9. Low Profile Sports Car Lift Service Ramps

Whether you need a ramp for a showroom or maintenance, this ramp is another low-profile ramp. Perfect for performing service on lower profiled cars. This ramp has a slope of 11.5 degrees and is 66 inches long. It lifts your automobile 7 inches off the ground. This ramp duo is made out of durable aluminum that holds 3,000 pounds. Additionally, there are side rails to help keep your car stay in place and rubber pads on the bottom to keep from sliding.

Pros
  • Durable aluminum
  • Suitable for maintenance
  • Satisfies low profile car
  • Side rails & rubber pads
Cons
  • Heavy (43 pounds)
  • Low maximum capacity

Sample Customer Review…These ramps are so well built, that they’ll hold my Dakota, Full size Bronco, my wife’s Forester, neighbors Expedition, etc, and long enough that I can get my sons lowered (3″ ground clearance) Monte Carlo right up them. Plus they are tall enough to get most any service that doesn’t require wheel removal done and wide enough for vehicles with large off-road tires plus with large enough side guides not to have to worry about driving off the side, and has a huge end stop plate to keep you from driving off the end.

Plus being aluminum, the pair are lighter than one of my old steel ramps (now scrapped), which were too steep even for my wife’s Forester and they will never rust, Only problem I’ve had is that they use a cheap rubber pad on the bottom of the legs where they contact the ground to keep them from sliding, they lasted a week, easily replaced with some heavier rubber and some good 3M spray adhesive. They shipped quickly and arrived undamaged.

I see right now they are unavailable, hope that changes, they should be able to sell thousands of these sets for all of us backyard mechanics. Only set I’d buy if I ever need another set

So I pulled them out of the box then set them where needed, and guess what. they matched right up to the curb with no difference in height at all. They didn’t even budge at all as I drove my 6 thousand pound trailer right over them without any signs of stress. These are very strong, and very well built. I would buy these again

Sample Customer Review…I love these. You wouldn’t think 2.5” would make a difference, but it does. I use them all the time. Super easy to do with no assistance. Like others have said, it’s hard to tell when the car is all the way on, but the angle is so small that you can easy e-brake it and check. I’m planning to buy a second set so I can put all four wheels on them any time I do maintenance. They’re narrow, but that doesn’t matter. They are wide enough.

Why Purchase a Car Ramp?

Car ramps provide balance and stability to your vehicle. Whether you are doing maintenance and repairs or need a steady incline when driving up your driveway curb, car ramps can help! When compared to car jacks, car ramps have more durability for a longer period of time. You can feel assured that the vehicle will hold up for as long as you need on a car ramp to ensure better safety.

When working on a vehicle, it is important to be able to have enough ground clearance to avoid difficulty. Ramps compared to car jacks, provide more ground clearance allowing you to see more clearly underneath your car. Additionally, car ramps can save you money instead of going to a car mechanic and spending hundreds of dollars on repairs you can do at home.

Things to Consider When Buying

Clearance

When purchasing a car ramp, it is important to look at the clearance of the ramp. This determines how high the ramp can lift your car. It may provide the degree or height in inches of how high it lifts off the ground. A lower lifting inclination is about 2.5”-4.” On the other hand, a higher clearance would be around 5”-9.”

Weight Capacity

Each ramp can hold up to a certain weight capacity. The capacity for car ramps usually ranges from 3,000-40,000 pounds. Depending on your vehicle weight and size will help determine what type of ramp to purchase to see if it can hold your car weight.

Physical Material

The material of a car ramp can help you determine the quality of the ramp. The prime materials that car ramps are generally made out of are rubber, plastic, or steel. The physical material also helps determine the cost of the ramp. Plastic ramps are generally cheaper than steel ramps.

Ramp Width

The width of the ramps will help distinguish whether your tires will fit on the ramps. It is important that they are wide enough for your tires to hold stability.

Holes

Some car ramps have holes placed on them to help provide more stability while doing work on them. They are punctured so that people can drill the ramps down to ensure they don’t slip out from underneath you.

Traction

The surface and bottom texture of the ramp are important to consider as well when investing in a car ramp. Having enough traction on the bottom will ensure your ramp doesn’t slip while your vehicle is held up onto it. Additionally, having enough traction on the surface of the ramp will ensure your tires don’t slip off while it is inclined. Some ramp surfaces have crisscross patterns, while others have honeycomb grooves to prevent sliding. Furthermore, the traction is important to consider if you will be using car ramps in all types of weather (rain, snow, sleet).

How to Use Car Ramps

Before using car ramps, ensure you are purchasing the right one for your vehicle. Double-check the weight capacity, inclination height, safety features.

To begin, make sure your car’s front and back wheels are aligned forward on a smooth, flat surface.

When arranging the car ramps, make sure the lower slant is faced toward the front tire for each ramp. Align them as straight as possible with the front tires.

Prior to driving up the ramps, place your tires at the tip of the ramps. Proceed very slowly to prevent any mistakes of tires sliding or driving off the top. Go ahead until you reach the center of the ramp or wherever the groove is placed to stop.

Once you are placed in the center of the ramp, leave the car in gear and put your car in park so it doesn’t drift off.

Conclusion

In the final analysis, all 10 of these options are of great quality and highly recommended. Just determine your vehicles’ features and match them with what ramp would suit your vehicle’s qualities. Consider the ramp’s inclination height, weight capacity, material, ramp width, holes, and traction to find your perfect ramp. Each ramp analysis provides feedback from top-rated ramp companies.

Car ramps will not only make repairs simpler, but they will provide the best kind of support for your vehicle while doing maintenance. Be your own mechanic and save money by investing in a car ramp!

Why is the length of a ramp important?

When selecting a car ramp, the angle should not be a grade larger than 20%. This means that the longer the car ramp, the smaller the grade.

Are plastic car ramps safe?

Both metal and plastic are extremely safe to use. This is because the plastic used for building them is not the usual plastic but an industrial one like polymer that is as strong and tough as the next metal.
