1. Race Ramps Service Sports Ramps

The race ramps are easily maintainable, and they provide great service for your sports car. When it comes to Miatas, Subarus, Evos, BMWs, Jaguars, or any other lower-profile vehicle, these are the ramps for you. They are 8 inches wide and with a 7-inch lift and together form a 16.7-degree angle. Ramps combined, they hold up to 6,000 pounds and 1,500 pounds each. A bonus is that the lip alerts the drives when they have reached the top of the ramps.

Specifications

  • Incline: 16.7°
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 6,000 pounds
  • Dimensions: 40.16 x 9.84 x 7.09 inches
  • Item Weight: 8.47 pounds
Pros
  • Anti-slip features for stability
  • High-impact plastic construction for durability
  • Lightweight with handles makes for easy transport
  • Wide base for wider tires
  • Low incline angle good for low-clearance vehicles
Cons
  • Not for heavier vehicles
  • Foam design

Sample Customer Review…I do quite a few oil changes at remote locations and require the ability to get under the car with ramps. I have owned and used a few styles of ramp over the last 40 years and the RR40 ramps are absolutely the best that I have used. Lightweight with more than enough strength to support any car or light truck that I will be servicing.

I always had problems with my older plastic ramps with a customer’s Toyota 4runner with aftermarket tires, I did an oil change on that vehicle with no issues. The ramps were wide enough to accommodate the tires and had no issues with driving the 4runner onto the ramps. I had issues with the ramps slipping forward with the old ramps and with the RR40 I drove up with no slippage.

I really enjoy the lightweight vs strength compared to my plastic ramps, always thought I had to accept the heavy steel ramps for strength or the more flimsy plastic ramps for lightweight. Not os with the RR40, I get the best of both worlds and save time which makes me money. Great investment for anyone that does oil changes. Good investment wishes I had found Race Ramps sooner.

2. RhinoGear Vehicle Ramp

RhinoGear ramps are known for being reliable and convenient. They give access to any underside of the vehicle. Their patented polymer works as an internal support system and wide stance. This offers an excellent distribution of the weight and an unbeatable strength compared to others. The core is made of a non-skid base which reduces slippage and makes it excellent for low clearance vehicles. These ramps are also great for any type of vehicle, whether is a pickup truck or a sports car.

Specifications

  • Incline: 17°
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 12,000 pounds
  • Dimensions: 14 x 12 x 37 inches
  • Item Weight: 21.5 pounds
Pros
  • Lightweight, easy to carry
  • One of the most affordable on the market
  • Sturdy
  • Low incline so suitable for low clearance vehicles
Cons
  • Ramps are narrow so aren’t suitable for cars with wider tires
  • Ramp height not adjustable

Sample Customer Review…I wasn’t sure about these ramps at first. The reviews appeared strong, but the occasional review about cracking and slipping trying to drive up them made me a little worried at first. However, very glad I decided to buy them because they have worked perfectly! I decided to do my own oil changes recently, mainly because I don’t trust my dealership to do it right or at least to my standard.

I have completed several oil changes with them, including a small sedan to a giant full-size truck. No issues at all. I can drive up with no slipping and no bowing or flexing of the plastic even with a heavy full-size truck on them. I use them on a driveway that is paved in standard street material. Just position the ramps so they are centered with the front tires, then push them a little to wedge the front of the ramp just under the tire.

This makes sure the tires bite right away as you drive up to them. They should not slip at all if you do this. However, make sure the ground you place the ramps over is generally level. If there is dust and loose dirt, make sure you sweep it away so the ramps have a good solid surface to be on. They also stack away neatly, ready to be used for your next project!

3. BISupply Vehicle Service Ramp Set

Excellent for vehicle maintenance as you work on the underside. They hold up to 10,000 pounds together, which means you can safely work on changing that oil or doing the usual maintenance without a worry. The large surface area and ease of use keep your vehicle leveled enough to work efficiently. It rises your vehicle up to 6.6 inches from the ground. The BISuppply ramps are thick and durable enough to last up to a lifetime.

Specifications

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 4,000 pounds
  • Dimensions: 12 x 10 x 46 inches
  • Item Weight: 9.22 pounds
  • Lifting height: 6.3 inches
Pros
  • Heavy-duty plastic can supports all types of cars
  • Lightweight for easy transport
  • Textured surface for traction
  • Ramps are wide for wider tires
  • Underside pads for stability
Cons
  • Not made for low-clearance vehicles
  • Doesn’t lift the car very high

Sample Customer Review…My new car (4 door sedan) is a bit lower to the ground than my previous vehicles and needs ramps with a lower approach angle than what my old solid wood ramps had. The plastic and metal ramps commonly available at stores were not going to work either – approach angles were not low enough. And reviews of their ability to safely lift and hold a vehicle are mixed.

These ramps both work with my new car and give me complete confidence in putting myself under the lifted vehicle. They do not move while driving the vehicle on or off. There is no cracking, creaking, groaning, or any other signs of strain while doing so. Inspecting them after having the car on them for a couple of hours shows no signs of distress. The rubber feet were glued well on the set I received. If the rubber feet had shown up not glued well, it would be easy enough to resolve with some new glue. The ramps are not light, at about 20 pounds per ramp.

But they are easily maneuverable and store easily on end. These are significantly more expensive than the plastic and metal ramps typically found at retail/auto parts stores. But they are significantly easier on the bank account than other ramps that offered low approach angles and similar weight capacity. They also are more densely constructed than other plastic ramps I’ve seen firsthand. I would recommend these ramps, even if you don’t need the low clearance, as I believe they offer more durability and safety than the more commonly available ramps. These are money well spent.

4. Low Profile Plastic Car Service Ramps

The low-profile service ramps provide easy access to the underside of the vehicle. They hold up to 4,400 pounds of weight with a rise of 2.5 inches off the ground. These make it ideal for low-profile vehicles that would otherwise be difficult to put on hydraulic jacks. A bonus is that they come with a honeycomb design that channels water and other inclement through the ramp without damaging them. They are 4.5 pounds each, making them lightweight enough to carry around.

Specifications

  • Incline: 9.05°
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 4,400 pounds
  • Dimensions: 27.5 x 7.75 x 3 inches
  • Item Weight: 9 pounds
  • Lifting Height: Up to 2.5 inches
Pros
  • Low incline for low-clearance cars
  • Can also be used to display vehicles
  • Made with heavy-duty plastics
  • Designed to prevent the buildup of moisture
  • Lightweight and easy to carry
Cons
  • Does not raise the car very much, only 2.5 inches
  • No rubber footing, not great stability

Sample Customer Review…I just needed some ramps that could help me get a floor jack under my somewhat low R8. These worked perfectly! They are more than sturdy enough for the job, and plenty easy to drive onto. Better than some stacks of wood. I bought this size because these are also low enough to fit under the car so I can drive the front wheels onto them either way. And they gave me just the right amount of height to fit my floor jack under the car.

5. 66″ Low Profile Sports Car Service Ramps

These pair of extra-long car ramps are designed specifically for sports vehicles and trucks that are minimal and low-profile vehicles. Both ramps create an 11.5-degree angle to raise the car 7 inches off the ground. These ramps are made so that they remain centered and tracked during the loading and unloading of the vehicle, with each track wide enough to accommodate large and wide tires because of their vast width.

Specifications

  • Incline: 11.5°
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 3,000 pounds
  • Dimensions: 66 x 14 x 10 inches
  • Item Weight: 43 pounds
  • Lifting height: 7 inches
Pros
  • Made for sports cars or other low-profile vehicles
  • The ramp is wide for wider tires
  • Aluminum build for durability
  • Rubber stripping for stability
Cons
  • Only usable for low-profile cars
  • Low weight capacity
  • Welding not great and not long-lasting
  • Very heavy and not able to transport easily
  • Very expensive

Sample Customer Review…These ramps are so well built, that they’ll hold my Dakota, Full-size Bronco, my wife’s Forester, neighbors Expedition, etc, and long enough that I can get my sons lowered (3″ ground clearance) Monte Carlo right up to them. Plus they are tall enough to get most any service that doesn’t require wheel removal done and wide enough for vehicles with large off-road tires plus with large enough side guides not to have to worry about driving off the side, and has a huge end stop plate to keep you from driving off the end.

Plus being aluminum, the pair is lighter than one of my old steel ramps (now scrapped), which were too steep even for my wife’s Forester and they will never rust, Only problem I’ve had is that they use a cheap rubber pad on the bottom of the legs where they contact the ground to keep them from sliding, they lasted a week, easily replaced with some heavier rubber and some good 3M spray adhesive. They shipped quickly and arrived undamaged.

These ramps are excellent for classic cars, mods, and sports cars because of their build-up to be accessible for low-profiled vehicles. Sold only in pairs, they create a 7.6-degree angle loading. A bonus is that they provide additional working space by being able to remove a piece from the ramp, providing easier access.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 6,000 pounds
  • Dimensions: 95.5 x 16 x 12 inches
  • Item Weight: 90 pounds
  • Lifting height: 9.5 inches
Pros
  • The lowest incline on the market
  • Heavy-duty aluminum
  • Long ramps
  • Compatible with many different vehicle types
Cons
  • Long ramps not good for shorter vehicles
  • Lacks gripping support
  • Attachment design not very secure
  • Very heavy and expensive

Sample Customer Review…I had a hard time finding a set of ramps I could fit onto without scraping my front bumper these not only provide the right approach for your lowered vehicle but they also provide enough room under the car once on the ramps to do a number of jobs!!!! 10/10

7. Rage Powersports Aluminum Riser Ramps

The aluminum material is lightweight enough to hold up to 7,000 pounds each and still be easy to manage. They are made of crossbar plates and a traction surface to prevent slippage when in use. Excellent for low-profiled vehicle trucks.

Specifications

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Capacity: 14,000 pounds
  • Dimensions: 63 x 16 x 10.5 inches
  • Item Weight: 64 pounds

Pros
  • Made for trucks or other large vehicles
  • Wide ramp and platform
  • Lifts over 10 inches
  • Wheel stop to prevent rolling
  • Traction rungs
Cons
  • Very heavy
  • Welds that are rough and could lead to injury
  • Very expensive

Sample Customer Review…These are some serious ramps, Twice the size of the plastic ones I am replacing. There is a lot of heavy gauge aluminum forming nice wide, solid ramps. These things are big, well suited for big vehicles.

8. Cusco A517 SL99 Jack Assist Ramp Set

The Cusco A517 SL99 Jack Assist Ramp Set is low-profile with a mild incline design, making them great for low-to-the-ground vehicles. It comes in a two-piece detachable design that makes it easy to use with your floor jack as it gives you more clearance for a floor jack to slide under the frame.

The ramp set is made from a lightweight ABS plastic material, making them lighter and easier to move but also risks some concern for heavier vehicles. However, if you have a  small, low-profile vehicle and want something convenient, this ramp is a great fit.

Specifications

  • Item weight: 5.89 lbs
  • Detachable two-piece design
  • Mild climb angle
  • Durable lightweight ABS material
Pros
  • Convenient for low-to-the-ground vehicles
  • Better clearance for floor jacks
  • Lightweight and easy to move
  • Longer ramp distance
Cons
  • No rubberized bottom (may slide around)
  • Not compatible with heavier vehicles

Sample Customer Review…Absolutely the BEST low-profile ramps for lowered cars. The tip of the ramps are paper-thin so they don’t slide when driving onto the ramps (even on ABS plastic interlocking garage tiles). Detachable 2 piece design allows me to use my Ranger Quick Jack. Worth every penny.

9. Tomioka Racing Super Slopes Car Ramps

The Tomioka Racing Super Slopes Car Ramps are a great option for low-to-the-ground vehicles. Designed for lowered vehicles, the ramps make the jack point areas easily accessible. They are also made from a strong plastic material that is both durable and lightweight, making them convenient to carry and store. The price is affordable, so if you’re looking for something that will get your car a few inches off the ground at a reasonable price, this ramp is a great option.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 27 x 8 x 3 inches
  • Item Weight: 9.28 pounds
  • Lifting height: 3 inches
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Highly durable
  • Has a gentle incline great for low-profile vehicles
  • Good traction
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Track is narrow at only 8 inches
  • Low height of only 3 inches
  • Not versatile: only suitable for low-profile vehicles

Sample Customer Review…These are a little thin for 9” wide tires, but still, work great. Lowered Nissan S-chassis drives right up them, even on my epoxy-sealed garage floor… With no slipping thanks to the low approach angle. Makes getting to the oil pan drain plug possible, and don’t have to have the car super high on other ramps or jacks to change the oil. The extra 2.5” height also makes working in the engine bay a little easier on the back. Definitely recommend it to those with lowered cars.

10. Race Ramps RR-EX-14 67” Xtender

The Race Ramps RR-EX-14 67” Xtender is not a car ramp on its own but is more of an extension and accessory to other Race Ramp products. However, a problem with many ramps is the steep incline or angle of approach. As such, this extension is a great option because it allows a smooth and easy transition for your car to the top of a car ramp.

It can be easily added to the landing of your 56- or 67- inch race ramp, and because of its solid core, it gives your car a more secure and stable platform to climb onto. So if you have a car with lower ground clearance and want a smoother ride on your car ramp, this extension is worth looking into.

Specifications

  • Used with 56 or 67 inch Race Ramps
  • Dimensions: 45 x 14 x 2.67 inches
  • Item Weight: 5.94 pounds
  • Reduces the angle of approach to 6.6-degrees
Pros
  • More stable and secure due to sturdy design
  • Great for low clearance cars
  • Non-slip surface prevents sliding or ramp
  • Lightweight and easy transportation
Cons
  • Is an extension, not an actual car ramp
  • Can only be used with 56- or 67-inch race ramps
  • Expensive for car ramp extender

Sample Customer Review…While the Race Ramps are perfect for regular cars, I needed the extenders for cars lower to the ground. These fit the Race Ramps perfectly as expected and the look/finish is identical to the Race Ramps. The tabs on the sides of the extenders may seem a little flimsy at first, but they don’t have to be strong, all they have to do is line up the extender to the ramp. If you need extenders, don’t hesitate to get these, they are worth the money.

Safety for the Best Car Ramps for Oil Changes

When changing your own oil, it is important to take the necessary steps to ensure that you and those around you are safe. You must make sure that your ramps are wide enough to hold your vehicle so that it does not fall off the side. In addition to width, your ramps should also have rubber feet to ensure that the ramps do not slide across the floor while you are doing work under them. This could lead to serious injury so it is imperative that you take the proper precautions.

While it is difficult to jack up a car, it is a good idea to place a jack under your car while using the ramps for added safety. On the off chance that the ramps do not work or that you make a mistake, the jack will act as an additional safety measure. You should also make sure that you use your vehicle’s emergency brake when on a ramp so that the vehicle does not roll off the ramp and roll over you.

Lastly, wheel chocks are also a good added safety measure for when your vehicle is lifted on a ramp. The wheel chocks, along with the emergency brakes, should ensure that your car doesn’t go anywhere. Just make sure you remove the wheel chocks when you are finished to avoid any complications.

Conclusion

We know that changing your oil can be a stressful and confusing process. We hope that our guide of the best car ramps for oil changes can help you be stress-free and prepared when it comes time to change your oil.

Written by Freddie Popken and Emily Cho

Why is the ramp’s length important?

When selecting a car ramp the angle should never have a grade that is larger than 20%. This is because it affects the drive up. The longer the car ramp, the smaller the grade

Why is the ramp’s width important?

The wider the ramp, the harder the challenge to center in your vehicle. A ramp must accommodate the size of your vehicle's tires. Wider ramps have an easier to manage to drive on but a higher difficulty centering the tires.

How long will the car ramps last?

It all depends on the materials, usage, and safekeeping. Many, if not most of the time, will last an amazing amount of time.

Is it safe to use plastic car ramps?

They are equally safe to metal car ramp. The advances and selection of the newest materials make it possible to create plastic and polymer products to be as durable and strong as metal.
