1. SteelSeries Arctis 1

The SteelSeries Arctis 1 is one of the best gaming headsets under $50 because its phenomenal build quality and design. The look of it is top notch and incredible. In this headset, there are built-in audio controls on the earcup, making it easier for the user to control. The comfort of this gaming headset is out of this world. The sound and mic quality are very good as those who use it are able to hear things clearly and use the mic without any problems.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 32 Ohm
  • Driver: 40mm neodymium
Pros
  • Comfortable
  • Good build/sound quality
  • Detachable mic
  • A lot of extra features
Cons
  • Non detachable cable

Sample customer review… This wireless gaming headset is amazing! Initially, when I first put them on, it felt really weird. I was like, what.. there’s no way this is going to feel comfortable. Then 10mins later, I totally forgot they were even on my head. I was walking around the house, taking bathroom breaks, getting food/drinks, all the while still be on comms and able to hear what’s going on in the game.

I played CS: GO and Guild Wars 2 with them, two very different games. The sound is precise, I could hear footsteps very well in CS: GO without any delays. And for the MMO the sound is deep and rich. The headset is very comfortable. I was able to play for 3 and half hours before my ears felt a bit sore. That’s when I took the headset off for a few.

To be able to play for nearly 4 hours straight without feeling a thing on your head is very nice. And honestly, if you play for that long, it probably is time for a lil break anyway. But really, this headset is very lightweight and comfortable. Don’t judge it based on your initial try. I don’t know why others have some issues with them.

I was almost scared off by negative reviews, I’m glad I gave this a try. If you play games, you should get this.

2. PDP Gaming LVL50 Wired Headset

This headset is a perfect headset for beginners or gamers looking for their first headset. The cushioned ear pads make long gaming sessions easy. With noise cancellation and an adjustable microphone, the PDP Gaming LVL50 Wired Headset offers great features for a great price. This headset comes in two versions, designed for the Xbox One or PS4/PS5.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Driver: 50mm
Pros
  • Noise cancellation
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • Closed-back design can cause overheating
  • Wired

Sample Customer Review… This headset was just what I was looking for. It completely changes the way you play games. The sound is crisp and clear and it sounds like you are right there in the game. I realized how much sound I was actually missing by just hearing the game through my Tv speakers. This headset is very comfortable even when wearing for long periods of time.

It adjusts very easily and has quite a bit of adjustment for different-sized heads Another great feature is the mic automatically mutes when you place it up. The battery life has been great and I have had no issues with the headset. Overall this is a great headset that I would recommend to anyone.

3. HyperX Cloud Stinger

The HyperX Cloud Stinger has an amazingly high build quality; therefore, if one wears it for a long time during a gaming session it will not affect their comfort level. The design of the gaming headset is so sleek and has a sophisticated look.

The best thing about this gaming headset is the sound and mic quality it provides with being at such an affordable price. While using this gaming headset one will experience amazing bass control as it will not bleed into other frequencies.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 18Hz-23kHz
  • Impedance: 30 Ω
  • Driver: Dynamic, 50mm with neodymium magnets
Pros
  • Good build quality
  • Nice comfort level
  • Good sound/mic quality
Cons
  • Cable/Microphone is not detachable

Sample customer review… I play MMO’s. I’ve been using headsets for About 12 years to communicate w others online. I have a good amount of ppl I talk to regularly and some I’ve spoken to in person. This is one of the clearest mics I’ve used. I have been told this mic really picks up the true riches of the tones in my voice that are close to in person.

The sound is amazing. I never have it up past medium. Plenty loud enough. I like the mic tilt to shut off. Convenient for when I want to snack 😉 I get headaches easily, always have. These are not so heavy, like some, that they hurt after wearing them for hours, leading to a headache. I do get some ear moisture after prolonged use but it’s very small…some might not even notice.

They do cancel out a lot of my background noise. Also to note…someone on discord told me I needed to change my fire alarm box because it was beeping. I hadn’t heard it due to noise cancellation. I removed the headset and sure enough, there was a faint beeping coming from upstairs. This mic picked that up from that great of a distance…and it wasn’t loud. Love this more than Turtle Beach.

4. Logitech G432

The Logitech G432 has a build quality and a design is similar to that of the G430. Logitech has not really changed much of how the gaming headset looks. This headset comes with a long extension cord as a connectivity option.

The comfort level of this gaming headset is average since it has not been updated as much as other gaming headsets. As for its sound quality, it has relatively balanced sound throughout the frequency range with a slight emphasis on the low-end.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 39 Ohms
  • Driver: 50 mm
Pros
  • Has an extension cord if needed
  • Good sound quality
Cons
  • Build quality can be better
  • Average mic quality

Sample customer review… When I’m gaming and I’m fully involved I can’t hear anything outside of my headset. Hence why they get such a high score. Although the majority of the time I prefer wireless headsets, this is a decent gaming headset, for a serious gamer on a budget.

It has an analog volume control on the headset through the use of a knob and it is such an awesome feature. Sometimes when my roommate has company over I turn the knob up and drown them out. My roommate has a similar style headset and it irritated me that he could not hear me, now he gets a taste of his own medicine. Although it results in missed phone calls, missed knocks on the doors.

So I have to keep it turned down halfway during the day. But at night I just crank that puppy and game until the cows come home. The sound is amazing I have no complaints and it is easy to hook up. So it is an all-around good product. It’s what you come to expect from Logitech.

5. Corsair HS60

The build and design of the Corsair HS60 have a very premium look. It is a very durable and well-built gaming headset. The sound quality is very balanced and incredibly versatile, but it does have a heavier bass than most gaming headsets. Overall it is a good gaming headset given its comfort level mixed with how well the sound and the mic quality is.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20KHz
  • Impedance: 32 Ohms
  • Driver: 50mm neodymium
Pros
  • Great design
  • Microphone is omnidirectional and can be detached
Cons
  • Can be a bit tight
  • Has a heavy base

Sample customer review… This is a great headset. The sound is clear and the microphone works well and blocks out all of the outside noise. It is very comfortable to wear, even with glasses. I’m probably most impressed by Corsair’s customer service though. After only two months and zero use after my initial set-up testing, the microphone just didn’t work.

I found the number for customer service online and called to see if they could help me troubleshoot. The automated answering system only asked me one question to direct me to the correct place and I was only on hold for about 15 seconds before a tech support person was on the line.

When I explained the issue and told him I was running Windows 10, he immediately knew what the problem was and walked me through the steps to fix it.

As it turned out, Windows had a recent update that automatically changed the privacy settings to disable access to the microphone from all of the installed apps. All I had to do was enable access and now my microphone is working again. I will definitely use Corsair products as much as possible and I recommend them to everyone.

6. Astro A10

The Astro A10 is made to impress with a matte finish which gives such an aesthetically pleasing look. The comfort level when wearing this gaming headset will all be dependent on the user though because the earcups can be small to some people.

The gaming headset is very breathable though and will not make one feel their ears are being entrapped (unless the gaming headset won’t fit). The sound and mic quality on this pair of gaming headset is tremendously good for the price.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 32 Ohms
  • Driver: 40 mm
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Good audio
  • Good mic quality
Cons
  • No build in audio control on the earcups
  • No accessories included
  • No simulated surround sound

Sample customer review… I am a casual gamer. I game whenever I have some free time and that is far and few in between. So I didn’t want to get an expensive headset as that would be a waste of my money. I looked high and low and finally found this set. Astro is usually associated with a high price tag so I was surprised that they made a reasonably priced headset.

For the price of a game, I scored myself an excellent headset. The sound quality is excellent for the price. Games come more alive when playing through headsets and it actually made me better at shooter games like Call of Duty. Since I’m able to hear everything, footsteps, and gunshots, I can pinpoint where the enemy is more quickly and have a leg up on them if engaging in a gunfight.

Super light but not feeling cheap and it feels super sturdy, so it should last a while. I got the Playstation version, which doesn’t matter as I like the color, so it just plugs right up to your controller. The mic is super clear and all my buddies can hear me loud and clear. Cheap quality headsets that will not break the bank.

7. Razer Kraken X

The good thing about the Razer Kraken X is that because of the material of its build, it is very lightweight. The design of this gaming headset is similar to all other Razer Kraken gaming headsets.

One of the best things about this gaming headset is that there is audio control incorporated into the earcups. The comfort level of this gaming headset is very good due to its lightweightness. The sound and mic quality is clear.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 32 Ohm (1 kHz)
  • Driver: 40 mm
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable
  • Nice sound quality
Cons
  • Build quality is all plastic
  • Cannot detach mic and cable

Sample customer review… I purchased this headset for work, not gaming, so I’ll start with that. I needed something reliable to connect to my laptop while I’m working remotely, and these were a good price. They feel well made, they are very light and sit comfortably on my head.

The microphone is nice and flexible, I can put it up and out of the way when I’m not speaking and it moves smoothly and doesn’t feel like it’s going to break off if I bend it too far.

My only issue is they do squeeze my ears after I wear them for a long time, and I can’t wear earrings with them, but that doesn’t change their quality. The volume adjustment and mute button are on the back of the headset, so that’s a little awkward to find when you’re not looking at it, but it just takes some getting used to.

The sound quality is very good, I feel like I’m immersed in whatever I am hearing when I have these on, whether that’s a meeting on Zoom or a great song. They don’t completely cancel noise, I can hear if someone speaks loudly in the next room while I am wearing them. But that’s not a deal-breaker either, if you want true noise-canceling headphones that are a dedicated purchase you should make them elsewhere.

Overall I am very satisfied.

8. Corsair HS50

The Corsair HS50 is one of the best gaming headsets under $50 because its build quality and design have a very premium look to it much like the other Corsair gaming headsets. It is a simple look for a pair of headphones but sometimes less is more leaving a nice finish to the gaming headset.

It has very large ear cups, therefore, leaving the ear no matter the size in a comfortable fitting. The sound quality on this gaming headset is better than the mic quality. The sound quality is good as it can even get very loud.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 32 Ohms
  • Driver: 40mm
Pros
  • Good build
  • Comfortable for long use
  • Good sound quality
Cons
  • Cannot detach mic and cable
  • Sound mic is average

Sample customer review… Excellent headphones for playing, excellent build quality, packaging presentation, and especially sound.

The microphone meets its main objective which is clear communication with your playmates and only activates when you speak and does not transmit external noise other than your voice well.

Why? In the ergonomic matter, the truth they isolate too much outside noise, for this same reason is somewhat tight the pads without comfortable but due to that are adjusted to create complete insulation has to be so there is no more.

They are a bit uncomfortable with the passage of hrs (2hrs) onwards because they exert enough pressure on the ears but nothing that is not solved with a small break to refresh your ears if you live in a place with high temperatures like me.

In general, they are excellent hearing aids that appear to be of higher-end due to their construction and materials and most importantly!! They look like great stalls. In short, I recommend them widely, preferably in charcoal color they look great.

9. Sades SA902

The Sades SA902 is an affordable gaming headset that still had good qualities. Though the look might not be as appealing the comfort level of the headphone is great. The sound and mic quality of this pair of gaming headset is clear. The price is very justifiable.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 32 Ohms
  • Driver: 40mm
Pros
  • Not expensive and a good value gaming headset
  • Comfortable
  • Good sound and mic quality
Cons
  • Cheap build
  • Fixed Microphone
  • Only able to use on PC

Sample customer review… As a gamer, I am very picky about my headsets. One of my biggest hurdles however was needing a USB headset to use on my work PC. When I tried to use my other gaming headsets I just couldn’t make the PC see the USB adapter I needed to turn it from the jack to USB.

People have mentioned a few times about Windows 10 and it was plug and play with this headset. I instantly was able to use Adobe Connect, Skype for Business, and other chat programs. I was told I sounded crystal clear and I hear perfectly as well. The ability to mute speakers or just yourself is very handy in a work capacity.

I wear glasses and the headset is comfortable and I can honestly say I notice no discomfort or my glasses smashing against my face. The headset is comfortable to wear through a typical 8-hour shift. I cannot hear outside noise and no one can detect anything but my voice through them. The headset feels sturdy and the cord is braided so I have confidence I will be buying more for family members.

10. Turtle Beach Atlas One

Known for their Playstation 4 and Xbox compatible headsets, Turtle Beach succeeds yet again in their Atlas One headset. With a flip-to-mute microphone, the Atlas One has stellar audio. The Turtle Beach Atlas One also has a 3.5mm connection.

Specifications

  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Driver: 40mm
Pros
  • Comfortable ear cushions
  • Good audio and microphone
Cons
  • Lower quality plastic build
  • Short cable

Sample Customer Review… I greatly enjoy the Turtle Beach Atlas One headset for its comfortability, sound, communication, and durability. The headset has leather-wrapped memory foam as compared to just the foam for the ears and on the headband. Personally, the leather is more comfortable, but each to their own.

They also fit perfectly over my ears instead of resting on them. The headset is also great for extended gaming. The sound quality is excellent for stereo headphones such as these. The game sounds and music comes in clearly. Also, the noise cancellation works extremely well to feel immersed in the game you’re playing.

Like the sound for in-game, the voice chatting with friends comes in just as well. The microphone picks up my voice clearly to where my friends have no problem hearing me. It is muted by lifting the microphone up which is a good plus as well. Even for the headset being mainly plastic with a metal part in the headband it is pretty well made.

My headset has taken some drops from my desk and is still in one piece. The noise cancellation is a little too good to where I couldn’t hear someone calling my name at points.

Before Buying the Best Gaming Headset Under $50

Over the last few years companies have come out with so many more gaming headsets all claiming to be the best. That is why it is very important to know what you want in a gaming headset because something that is the best for someone else might not always be the best for you. Everyone’s taste and preferences are different, especially when it comes to gaming headsets. Some questions to ask yourself are

  • How much am I willing to spend on the gaming headset?
  • Am I on a PC, Xbox, or PS most of the time?
  • How much do I care about the looks of the gaming headset?
  • How comfortable do I want the gaming headset to be?
  • Do I care more about sound quality or the mic quality of the gaming headset? Or both?

Pricing

It’s all about the price isn’t it? We are all trying to save our money one way or another because we work hard for it and don’t want it to go to waste. Therefore, it should be no exception when wanting to buy a good pair of gaming headphones for a good price!

We are all just trying to get the best bang for our buck and in doing that I have created the list above for you to see which one is the best fit for you. The prices range for each pair of best gaming headphones under $50. Remember though, you do get what you pay for in some circumstance! That is why I outlined the descriptions, pros, and cons of each headset above for you to see which one will best fit you!

Compatibility

Before buying a gaming headset one should always know what device they are buying it for. There are different gaming headsets for each, but there are actually some that are compatible with all, rather it be a gaming PC or console. Before getting started make sure you know which one you are mainly shopping for though so you won’t waste time looking at gaming headsets that are not compatible.

Looks

A question to think about before buying is that “Do I care about the looks of the gaming headset”? This is a very important question because there are really good gaming headsets out there that have everything you’re looking for and that is in your price range, but just does not look that pleasing. Therefore you have to see what you’re willing to sacrifice in the budget that you are looking for.

If this does matter to you then by all means choose one that looks good and does all the functions you need! Everyone has their preferences and there is no shame in caring how it looks on you! Some best gaming headsets under $50 have no trade-offs at all!

Comfort

This is one of the biggest factors when buying a gaming headset! Everyone wants to buy a comfortable headset, especially if one plans to be gaming for a long time. That is why it is important when buying to choose the right one. Some best gaming headset under $50 have smaller ear cups, while others have larger ones.

Make sure you know what size you like so it can help you choose your next pair of best gaming headset under $50 that is comfortable for you! The comfort level of a gaming headset will also be based on the material that was used to build it. A good headset should fit you well and have little wiggle room.

Sound Quality

What are gaming headphones if not for the sound? This is very important to look at because there are different factors in the game. There are the noises in the game (ex: music), there are noises of our own actions (ex: shooting), and there are noises of the actions that others are taking around us (ex: others shooting at us).

How well will the headset take it all in? Most headsets are very good at projecting the noises in the game and the noises taken by our own actions, but when it comes to the noises made by others some headphones can have faint sound quality. Therefore it all depends on the games one plays and how well sound quality matters to the individual.

Microphone Quality

When playing a game communication is key between the players, therefore that is why it is best to have a gaming headset that has good microphone quality. This is important so that others can hear you throughout the game. When your mic is clear and everyone can hear you precisely the game runs smoother because everyone knows their task and is able to communicate with each other if a problem ever arises.

Conclusion

There are many best gaming headset under $50 out there to choose from, each will have their own pros and cons but the one I found best was the HyperX Cloud Stinger. This is because it checks all my boxes when looking for a good gaming headset under $50 with a reasonable price, good lasting comfort, and one of the best sound and mic qualities for the price. The sleek and sophisticated look is just an added bonus to the product for me as I’m not going to complain that the product looks so good!

The HyperX Cloud Stinger gaming headset price is close to the $50 mark, which I think is very reasonable, but if that is still too high for you, I recommend the Sades SA902 gaming headset which will do about the same thing.

The build will just be different therefore resulting in different comfort levels. Lastly, when looking at price, the HyperX Cloud Stinger is probably more expensive because it is compatible with both PC and other gaming consoles, while the Sades SA902 is only compatible with PCs.

I take careful consideration when buying a gaming headset as I’m sure we all do. I hope this guide helps you to find the best gaming headset for under $50 for your taste.
