1. PetSafe Happy Ride Extra Long Ramp
This portable ramp is perfect for your pooch and is great for getting any size dog into a car or up an elevated surface. It works well as both an indoor and outdoor ramp. The extra length of the ramp provides pets to easily walk up at an incline without risk of injury. The PetSafe dog ramp is specifically made with high traction for dogs to walk up without the risk of slipping. It is also made with side rails to guide your pet and keep them from falling off. This ramp is very easy to set up and locks in place as soon as it opens up. It is great for bigger dogs specifically as it holds more weight and is extra long in length and is wide as well.
- Dimensions: 47-87 in. L x 20 in. W x 4 in. H
- Works best with: Steep inclines, Veterinary tables, and all vehicles such as SUV’s, trucks cars, and minivans
- Weight Capacity: 300 lbs.
- Weight of ramp: 18 lbs.
Sample Customer Review… Love the size, sturdiness, and adaptability in lots of situations. I bought this for my 80 pound elderly dog, who could no longer jump into the back of my 2008 Subaru Outback, or up on my 28″ high bed. It worked great, and it was easy to train her to use it. It did not intimidate her. The walking surface is just wonderful, completely flat, with lots and lots of grip. Even the smallest pet would not find it to be uncomfortable. A bit heavy, as I would have expected of such a solid piece of equipment, but I can easily handle it (I’m 72 and cannot handle some very heavy things). Slides together nicely and easily. The angled, gripping top end rests safely on my car bumper, and on the edge of my bed. If I could change one thing, it would be that the strap and snap safety guard at the bottom of the ramp, used to keep it closed when you aren’t using it, or when moving it about would be at the top. Probably just my style of handling it, and it would not be difficult for me to reteach myself how to handle it.Read more reviews at Amazon.com
2. PetSafe CozyUp Bed Ramp
The PetSafe best ramp is a great way for pets to walk up to surfaces like beds or couches without straining themselves to do so. If you are looking for a ramp that will look like a part of your furniture then this is a product to definitely look into. This beautiful cherry wood ramp is not only appealing to look at but is also very sturdy for most pets to walk up. The ramp holds up to 120 lbs of weight and gives enough space for the pet to confidently walk to the top of it. The PetSafe ramp is only used for indoor purposes to help encourage pets to try not to jump on a high surface but instead walk safely to it.
- Dimensions: 70 in. L x 16 in. W x 25 in. H
- Color: Cherry
- Material: Red Wood
- Weight Capacity: 120 lbs
Sample Customer Review… This ramp is very long, but that allows the incline to be a true incline and not straight up and down like so many ramps. I have two of these ramps already, and the carpet can be a little slippery for some dogs, however that was easily solved by a memory foam bath mat that I attached with a bungee strap. This is the only ramp with the gentle incline and my 15 pound dog who has arthritis and somewhat floating joints has been saved from almost all joint issues since she always uses the ramps. I have one in front of the couch which means only one person can sit there, but I tried other shorter ramps that were too steep or weren’t high enough so the dogs would not use them. My pug uses all the ramps. I initially had to use food to get him to try the ramps but now it’s his preferred method of furniture hopping. Construction was not a problem on my two ramps and I hope the third will be just as easy.Read more reviews at Amazon.com

- Dimensions: 22″L x 20″W x 10″H
- Color: Chocolate/ White
- Weight Capacity: 175 lbs
Sample Customer Review… This is a great product. I was looking for something to help make getting in and out of the car easier for my 75 lb older dog. I was hoping to find something lightweight, easy to take out of or put into the car without an assembly process each time and something he could use without slipping off or losing footing. This turned out to be a perfect match across the board. It was easy to put together, no tools required just pop the support bars into place and it’s all set. It’s surprisingly sturdy, I tried standing on it a few times to check for any wobbling or sliding and didn’t notice either. I have a small SUV and this fits right below the door frame and the shape allows my dog to step on it from either the front or the side. The fact that it’s one ample sized platform instead of several smaller steps makes it much easier for my dog to get his footing when he steps on it. The carpet covering is substantial and great for traction, looks like it’s velcroed on but it’s very securely attached with a few long strips and the pieces that are in contact with ground are plain plastic so you can quickly wipe them off if needed. I keep mine on the floor in the backseat and grab it as needed to get him in or out, the design makes it easy to grab and again it’s light. I’m very pleased with this product and more importantly my dog can continue his road trips with ease!Read more reviews at Amazon.com

Sample Customer Review… I was debating between these plastic stairs and the kind that are a foam and I am really glad I spent a little more money and got these ones. My queen bed is pretty high off the ground and these were the right height for my little shih tzu to go up and down to get on and off my bed. He was a little hesitant at first because he had never used stairs to get on my bed before. So I ended up using my training treats and teaching him how to go up and down the stairs by letting him sniff the treats and setting some on each stair and letting him know he was a good boy and doing a good job when he would go up or down. He was more scared of going down them but they are sturdy and don’t move so that helped. Now he runs up and down them like a pro. I even walked up them and I’m 130 pounds. So yeah, they are pretty solid. Just measure your height of your bed and get the ones that are the right height and these ones won’t let you down!Read more reviews at Amazon.com
5. PetSTEP Original Folding Pet Ramp
The PetStep folding ramp is the perfect accessory for pets who need the extra boost to get to high surfaces. The ramp is made of plastic which gives it lighter weight for owners to easily unfold and attach to the vehicle. It has cutouts on the side of the ramp for a better grip for owners to carry easily. The ridges on the surface of the ramp are used for traction so no pets slip and are also designed this way to keep any odors, mud, or anything on the paws of the pet from sticking to it. This ramp is also very good to use both outside and inside the house, as it cleans very easily. It also includes a warranty of five years if the product were to break. Overall this is a great product for any pets to use as well as cats.
- Dimensions:36 x 17 x 5.7 inches
- Material: Plastic
- Weight capacity: 500 lbs
Sample Customer Review… I purchased this two months ago after having my second aluminum extending ramp fail on me in two years (see my review of that ramp). I rescue, adopt, and rehabilitate giant breed dogs, so this ramp gets a serious daily workout at my house. My dogs range in size from 100 pounds to 200 pounds. I am very pleased with this ramp so far. The surface is a unique rubber-like compound that is the easiest on a dogs paws I have ever seen, while still providing excellent traction. The ramp itself, as well as the hinges, are extremely sturdy, well and thoughtfully designed, and well built. The ramp folds and unfolds easily and safely. The ramp is about average weight for a ramp this size, and no easier or more difficult to use than any other comparable ramp, though I find this folding ramp easier to use than the extending aluminum ramps I have had in the past. This ramp cleans easily, as well. The ramp is wide enough for my giant breeds, though I wouldn’t want it any narrower, and would appreciate it if it were an inch or two wider. Still, I haven’t had any dogs slip of of this ramp, even those dogs with arthritis. In my 23 years experience with dogs ramps I definitely recommend this ramp over any other.Read more reviews at Amazon.com

Sample Customer Review… I have a 65-70 pound German Shepherd and just wanted to save her elbows and hips from long-term injury getting into and out of my pickup truck, and also use it for my little low Honda fit car. I’ve tried many types of ramps over the years and this is the best! It is all plastic so very lightweight. The surface material is a weird loopy material that is hard to describe but works great for the dog. No slipping and seems comfortable for the dog – but the dog causes no scratching or damage to the material. The ramp is so small and lightweight, I can easily move it between vehicles as needed. It is not terribly long when unfolded and in use, but I have found lower places to attach the top end on my truck which leaves only a short hop beyond for the dog into my truck. Also, because the surface is so “grippy” and comfortable for the dog, you can use this in a steeper slope than other ramps. The upper end has a “bent” end, so it secures nicely to whatever you wedge it to (but I still put my foot on the bottom as the dog is using it just in case).Read more reviews at Amazon.com

Sample Customer Review… The Pet Gear Tri-fold Ramp shipped when promised. It is sturdy and both unfolds and folds easily. It comes with a strap to clip with carabiner clip to the tailgate securing bracket in my SUV. The ramp has a rugged abrasive surface to prevent the dog losing traction. We have a deck with four steps from ground to deck. Dog, who is arthritic and partially blind, can no longer make the jump into my SUV. She is 55 lbs and I, like her, am an arthritic geriatric guy. I can’t lift her into the SUV. First, Dog walked the ramp while it lay on the ground, with biscuit rewards for success. Then we began stair trials. Dog walked the ramp with it raised to the first step, then, increasing the difficulty, the second, third, and fourth, all with biscuit rewards. Finally she practiced walking the ramp raised to the height of the SUV. In all, she took three hours of distributed learning trials to master walking the ramp into the SUV. I am very pleased.Read more reviews at Amazon.com
Buying Guide: Things to Consider When Purchasing the Best PawRamps
After reading about the different ramps there are main key points to take note of when finally deciding what the best ramp is for your pet like: the weight capacity, the traction used, and the type of style ramp.
This is very important when looking at ramps as all dogs vary in size and weight. By picking a ramp that is designed for your dog’s specific weight can be very beneficial and cost-effective. Smaller-sized pups can use any size ramp as they can fit onto it because of their weight. It is important to understand that many ramps that are used for bigger-sized dogs are more costly as they carry more weight to them. This is a good tip to look into when searching for the right ramp for your pet depending on their size and how much you are willing to spend on them.
It is important to note that the traction on a ramp can be made of different materials to help support the pet when walking up and down the ramp. Carpets, grid pads, and ridges are all used in the mentioned reviewed ramps. The different types of traction are all used for the same purpose to keep pets from falling or slipping. It is the owner’s decision to pick a type of traction they believe is best suited for their own pet as it varies from different dogs.
The styles of the ramps can hold great significance when shopping for your pets. The different styles include steps, a slight incline, and ramps made specifically for indoors or outdoors By determining what the ramp is needed for can help narrow down the list to then choose the perfect ramp for your pet!
