Apple AirPods Pro
Apple Airpod Pros

The Airpod Pros are one of the most popular pairs of wireless earbuds on this list. With an IPX4 rating meaning it is sweat-resistant it is great for the light runner. While also being noise-cancelling and having amazing sound quality. These earbuds even come with multiple sizes of silicone tips ensuring a perfect fit for everyone. The wireless charging case also includes 24 hours of charging time.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Apple
  • Color: White
  • Connections: Bluetooth
  • Headphones Form Factor: In-Ear
  • Noise Control: Active Noise Cancellation
Pros
  • Long-lasting
  • Sweat-resistant
  • Noise-cancelling
  • Transparency mode
  • Great sound quality
  • Top rated
Cons
  • More expensive

Sample customer review…Apple hit a home run with these… I wanted the original AirPods but couldn’t get them to fit in my ear. I have tried other true wireless earbuds and never liked the look or fit of them. With the AirPods Pro, Apple has answered my prayers, and they’re even better than I could have imagined. The sound cancellation is LEGIT. I own the Bose 700 noise-canceling headphones and while they’re not as good at noise cancellation as those, I’m blown away by how close it is. The sound quality as well sounds very good to me. I’m by no means an audiophile but I’m a little picky as far as this goes and I’m more than pleased. The ability to switch from noise-canceling to transparency mode is awesome as well.

2. Bose Soundsport

The Bose Soundsport build and quality of headphones is pretty incredible. This is actually the one I use, as it was a present I received. I have used it for years and it still looks and feels brand new! It has a bit of a bulky look for the ears though, so if you are not interested in that, another pair will probably be better for you. Why this pair of headphones is so great though is because of the quality of sound it has. The performance is amazing.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Bose
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Wireless
  • Model Name: SoundSport
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
Pros
  • Very good sound
  • Unshakeable connectivity
  • Incredibly comfortable
Cons
  • Susceptible to wind interference

Sample customer review… I’m pleased to report that the SoundSport headphones are still going strong, after months of near-daily use. I’ve worn them in a variety of activities, including running, biking, and just taking long walks, and the headphones never dislodged from my ears. Battery life is good – I’ve averaged 6+ hours of listening to music on a full charge. I’ve never had a phone call last more than 2 hours, but I would expect a similar performance. Although the fit felt a little odd initially (they are larger than most earbud-style models I’ve worn), after a few sessions I became completely comfortable with them. The rocker control under the right earbud is a bit tricky, as you can’t see it when you’re wearing them and the contours of the buttons are not so distinctive that you can tell by touch alone if you’re on the right button. The sound quality is excellent! The low range comes through with good depth and little distortion, even at high volumes. Voice performance is also great, and other callers are able to hear your voice clearly. One issue is that the microphone can be overwhelmed by the wind when outdoors…but that’s been my experience with every phone headset (wired & wireless), so I wouldn’t consider it a knock on these. Charging is fast and easy with the mini-USB connector, and pairing to the phone (Android in my case) is simple – and the Bluetooth range before the connection is lost is surprisingly good. Although these are more expensive than most other models I looked at, I’m confident the extra money was worth it. I definitely prefer them to the Plantronics BackBeat, which is similar in style & size.

3. Beats Powerbeats Pro

The Powerbeats Pro is one of the best pairs of wireless headphones for running because it’s reliable. The build and design are simple and sleek. You will never have to worry about this pair of wireless headphones falling out of your ear. Its hold is very secure. The sound and mic quality is great as the pair of wireless headphones has a deep-base and strong audio performance.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Beats
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Bluetooth, NFC
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
  • Noise Control: Sound Isolation
Pros
  • Strong battery life
  • Secure fit
  • Good base/audio
Cons
  • Cost (It’s expensive)

Sample customer review… As for the performance of the Powerbeats Pro – they are bass-heavy. All I can say to reviewers who post otherwise is you must not have the right tips installed for your ear size and shape so keep trying. As others have posted, the mid-range seems to be lacking. Overall sound quality is not as good as similarly priced Master & Dynamics or even the also bass-heavy Bose. But the voice call quality of these is as good as the first-gen AirPods I replaced, and for me that is key. Also much more noise isolation vs. AirPods. There are some Comply foam tips available separately that probably do an even better job with noise blocking. Bottom line, for me, after trying many, many, many options for high-quality truly wireless sound while maintaining great voice call quality, Powerbeats Pro, while not perfect, is the winner. And you can’t beat the “renewed” price.

4. Beats Powerbeats 3

Another one on the list for Beats! The Beats powerbeats 3 is one of the best pairs of wireless headphones for running because it’s part of the Beats family! This particular one is great because though people tend to look for “wireless headphones,” some still mean wireless headphones that include the wire but just one that doesn’t get in the way. The build and design of this pair of headphones are very sturdy. The sound and mic quality is great and the price is even around $100 less than other Beats wireless headphones!

Specifications:

  • Brand: Beats
  • Color: Various
  • Connection: Wireless
  • Model Name: Powerbeats3
  • Headphone Form Factor: In Ear
Pros
  • Great sound
  • Great fit
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • Not truly “wireless”

Sample customer review…Upon receiving them they were packaged nicely and they seem to be built in very good quality like any product made by beats in my opinion. Connecting them to my phone via Bluetooth was very easy since I own an iPhone and these are made by Apple and have the Apple W1 chip so, I don’t know how well they will connect to Samsung or other devices not made by apple. I have to admit it took a while to get used to wearing them on my ears since this would be my first pair of this style earphones with the ear hooks. The battery life is outstanding on these as you could go about 10-12 hours on a full charge at high volume and they charge really fast. In terms of the sound quality, comparing them to Beats Solos or Studios these aren’t as good as the headphones but for earphones, they are really good in sound quality especially if you enjoy heightened bass. From the bad reviews that I have seen, most of them seem to be that these would stop working after using them for what they are supposed to be used for which is “working out and exercising” and once drenched in sweat or water they would break and I can see that the reason for that is that they aren’t exactly sealed to the point where sweat or water can penetrate the electronics and ruin them, however for my personal use, I did not buy them as exercise earphones but just as normal use earphones so I don’t exactly know how long these would last if you took them to the gym or on a run and use constantly use them while sweating. I would recommend that if you do have the extra money to spend, you should get the Beats Solos or Studios but if not, and you can’t stand Apple AirPods/Earphones, these are definitely the earphones for you.

5. Bose Sport Earbuds

The Bose Sport Earbuds are sound-proof earbuds great for running! Because they are waterproof it allows for you to use these almost anywhere. In addition, the battery life is up to 5 hours on a single charge. This pair also comes with a carrying/charging case that includes a latch, so that the earbuds won’t fall out.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Bose
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Bluetooth
  • Headphones Form Factor: In-Ear
  • Noise Control: Active Noise Cancellation
Pros
  • Sound-proof
  • Comes with charging carrying case
Cons
  • Short battery life
  • More expensive

Sample customer review…Quality. Bose always does well. I hesitated at first to buy because of the lack of buttons that I love so much on the previous version. But I’m glad I made the purchase. The quality of sound seems even better if that’s even possible. But my favorite new feature is how it “knows” when you take it out of your ear and when you put it back. When I listen to an audiobook using Overdrive library app, the book pauses when I take it out and turns back on when I put it back in! Sure doesn’t do that for me with my older pair. I recommend. Definitely. Oh! And the battery case is way better too. The lid opens with ease, earpieces go in with ease. Great improvements.

6. Letsfit Bluetooth Headphones

No products found.

The Letsfit Bluetooth Headphones are one of the cheapest wireless headphones that are perfect for running. Though the low price point does not mean that it will lack in quality. With enhanced bass and reduced distortion, it can allow you to be fully immersed in your music. It also has a 15hr playback time for a 2hr charge, as well as being waterproof. Meaning it is the perfect earbud for an active person.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Letsfit
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Bluetooth
  • Headphones Form Factor: In-Ear
  • Noise Control: Active Noise Cancellation
Pros
  • Afforadable
  • IPX7 Waterproof
  • Long lasting
  • Noise cancelling
  • Comes with carrying case
Cons
  • Isn’t secure to ears
  • Can only charge using provided cable

Sample Customer review…My husband wanted an extra pair of Bluetooth headphones to keep in his car. These were a good price. He charges them in his car on the way to work with the included USB cord. He said they charge pretty quickly and hold the charge for his whole shift. The rubber is comfortable and he says he barely feels them while he wears them. The wrap-around design keeps them on his ears while he works.

7. Aftershokz Aeropex

The Aftershokz Aeropex is the runner-up for the best pair of wireless headphones for running as many people have used time and like them! The build and design are much different from others as it transmits audio using bone conduction, leaving your ears completely open and unblocked. The waves go through the cheekbone. This set of headphones is not only very popular for runners to use, but other athletes as well! It is made very differently from other headphones so therefore the sound and mic quality can sound different, but it still has a good base to it.

Specifications:

  • Brand: aFTERSHOKZ
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Wireless
  • Model Name: AfterShokz Aeropex
  • Headphones Form Factor: On Ear
Pros
  • Increased spatial awareness
  • Comfortable
  • Long battery life
  • Is ideal for office use as well
Cons
  • Quality of sound might not be as good as other headphones

Sample customer review… These are not the highest quality audio you will ever hear, but they are not engineered for the audiophile. What they do they do well. First, sound quality is good, especially for something not in or over your ears — it’s actually pretty cool when you think about it. They do leave your ears open but the sound does tend to drown out the other sounds, but you have the volume control so adjust accordingly — on high you will hear very little else, on low you can listen and have a conversation. They do vibrate on your ears with high bass levels, but nothing you won’t get used to if you have mastery of your id. What these do really really well allow you to comfortably listen for long periods of time without headphone fatigue; I wear them for hours with no discomfort, including when not using them, and while wearing glasses — they are, bar none, the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever used. I mainly bought them to listen to audiobooks but find myself using them to enjoy the sound when otherwise I’d have to avoid it… Now I can pretend to listen to my wife complain while I really enjoy a nice song in the background. These just might save my marriage. I’ve set all of my other headphones aside and honestly see no need for them now. My one complaint is the light never turns blue when they are supposedly charged (annoying), but I’m not returning them. Ever. I give them 5 stars because I never want to take them off. I may buy a second pair so I always have a pair charged (that’s how much I use them).

8. Jaybird Vista

The Jaybird Vista is one of the best wireless headphones for running because it is lightweight. It has a compact build and a cool design as it comes in many colors. The sound quality is one of the best out there is a strong audio performance with a boosted bass.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Jaybird
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Wireless
  • Model Name: Jaybird VISTA
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
Pros
  • IPX7 waterproof
  • Secure fit for exercise
Cons
  • Limited on-ear controls

Sample customer review…I think these headphones are completely phenomenal they sound great especially since you can tweak the EQ on the app which is very responsive. They’re very comfortable I can wear them for hours without any ear fatigue plus they stay in my ear they have not once fallen out. I also love the size of the case is nice and compact doesn’t take up too much space in my pocket and the magnets in the case are nice and strong your headphones will not fall out. They connect to my phone really fast to where they’re already connected by the time I can get just one in my ear. Calling on these things works great I haven’t had any issues with people not being able to hear me. The versatility of the buttons on the earphones isn’t the best but they offer what I need and it would have been a really nice plus if they could have made touch response buttons instead of traditional buttons but for me, it’s not really that big of a deal. I really recommend these headphones Jaybird outdid themselves on this model and I’m excited to see what they come out with next!!!

9. Jabra Elite Active 75t

The Jabra Elite Active 75t has made many improvements compared to its last set of headphones which was Jabra Elite 75t. Its design is similar to the last as it has very straightforward designs which can be made for someone on the simpler side. This set of headphones has a more secure fit and that is why it’s one of the best wireless headphones for running. It is top-notch in the wearability and durability department. Its sound quality is very powerful as it has a very strong base.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Jabra
  • Color: Various
  • Connectivity Technology: Wireless
  • Model Name: Elite Active 75t
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
Pros
  • Powerful audio
  • Excellent in-app EQ
  • Waterproof and even dust-resistant design
  • Secure in-ear fit
Cons
  • Expensive, Sound signature might be too much for some

Sample customer review…These earbuds are amazing. They sound great, especially if you have an Android because of the Qualcomm AAC HD support, which is similar to AptX, which these earbuds do not support. The battery life is great. It has approximately 7.5 hours on a single charge, and 28 hours total charge with the charging case. The look is very aesthetic and minimalistic. It’s one of the best-looking wireless earbuds in my opinion. The soundstage is superb. It sounds very clear all around and the bass is punchy and strong. It definitely doesn’t lack in the low end as I read in other reviews. I also feel like the sound improved a bit from the 65t’s even though they didn’t market the 75t’s as an improvement over the 65t’s in terms of sound quality. For around the $200 mark, the 75t’s, as well as the MW07 Go, are the best TWS out in the market right now. I’d easily give this 5/5 star as it really doesn’t lack in anything. It checks all the boxes.

10. Adidas RPT-01 Sport

The Adidas RPT-01 Sport is one of the best wireless headphones for running because it is unique! It has a very sturdy design and is different from other headphones because unlike it being “earphones” it is actually a “headphone” that goes over the head. If you are looking for an actual “headphone” to run, this is the one for you! The design of this pair of headphones is cool because it is wrapped in fabric reminiscent of the ones of Adidas shoes, therefore giving it an athletic look! The sound quality is overall really great as the bass is very forward and it has high sculpted audio performance.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Adidas
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Wireless
  • Model Name: Adidas RPT-01 Bluetooth Sport On-Ear Headphones – NEW
  • Headphones Form Factor: On Ear
Pros
  • Bass-forward
  • Intuitive on-ear controls
  • Removable ear covers that can be washed
Cons
  • Design is an acquired taste (not made for everyone)

Sample customer review…As someone who can’t wear in-ear headphones, these are the best solution I’ve come across yet! First of all, yes, they’re tight. I have a pretty big head, and if I wear them for more than 30 minutes I have to move them around a little. That being said, I don’t think they’d feel as secure on my head if they were any looser. They don’t move at all while I exercise and I really love that. The fabric feels fine on my ears even after 2 hours, and I’ve also worn these over my running hat, which still worked really well. The sound quality is great, for podcasts as well as music. Since I use them for running outside I’m glad that they still allow for the street noise to come through. Ambient noise is easy to ignore, but you’ll still be aware if someone is coming up behind you.
I love that these don’t have buttons that become impossible to use once you wear gloves, but instead have a super easy-to-use joystick. It’s really intuitive. It took me a little while to commit to investing a little money into exercise headphones, but I’m very, very glad I purchased these!

11. Jaybird X4

If you are looking for more of a gaming looking pair of headphones but for running, this is the one for you! The design will fit anything you are doing whether you are indoors or outdoors. That is why this pair of headphones is so great because it is so versatile. It even comes with interchangeable eartips and fins! It’s sound quality is out of this world as it can give really bomb bass or if you are looking for a more balanced audio it gives off that feature too!

Specifications:

  • Brand: Jaybird
  • Color: Various
  • Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth
  • Model Name: Jaybird X4 Wireless Sports Headphones
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
Pros
  • Powerful audio performance
  • Excellent in-ear fit
  • Waterproof
Cons
  • Short listening time
  • Proprietary charging cable

Sample customer review… I’m pretty sure I have never written a review which makes me feel lazy but for these earbuds, I wanted to write a review. These are my third pair of Jaybirds. I love the sound. That being said, I haven’t sampled any other brands except for some cheap knockoffs which pale in comparison. The reason I’m leaving this review is that after just purchasing my third pair, they went missing. I was beside myself with frustration. Then I remembered seeing a GPS tracking feature on my Jaybird app. I pulled up the app and before my earbuds died four days prior they were last seen at my son’s Elementary School. I had totally forgotten they were with me that day! I went to the school and they were in the lost and found. I have no clue how many earbuds also have a GPS tracking feature but this feature alone is worth five stars. If there were such a rating as 4.99% stars I would give these Jaybirds that rating. My only complaint is the peculiar charging unit ( inconvenient because if you don’t have it along, you can no longer charge the earbuds as opposed to previous models with a Micro SD charging unit on them) and the lack of cord clips on this new model. Other than that I love these earbuds and would highly recommend them.

12. Jaybird Tarah

The Jaybird Tarah headphones are best for running because it was made with athletes and people who love to exercise in mind. The build is very much simple but has a very strong hold in the ear. It will stay in place even when doing a very long and hard workout that requires a lot of moving. The sound quality is good as it is very bass-forward and powerful.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Jaybird
  • Color: Various
  • Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth
  • Model Name: Jaybird TARAH
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
Pros
  • Powerful audio
  • Waterproof, Extra-secure in-ear fit
Cons
  • Lops off beginnings of tracks when you skip forward or backward

Really pretty decent for the price. Sound quality is the best it can be for the price range. The little voice telling you when the battery is low or once you’ve connected is at a reasonable volume that doesn’t make you jump out of your skin. The earbud part is pretty snug and pretty effective at noise cancellation, so be careful if you’re running outside or walking around with them. As far as wireless headphones go, they’re pretty sleek and not at all bulky– I have long hair that covers them and people have repeatedly not noticed that I have them on. However, the thing that really bumped up my review of these bad boys to a five-star is the customer service. Shortly after buying the headphones, I realized that there was no charger included in the box, even though it was listed as being included. I wrote into the customer service e-mail and had little hope of getting that charger since it would be impossible to prove that it was missing. However, I got an e-mail back in a day (record time for these kinds of things) and they asked for my address so they could send the missing charger for free, no questions asked. Fantastic service that really tries to do right by their customers. If you’re a poor college kid like me, these are worthy investments.

13. Soundcore Liberty Air

The Soundcore Liberty Air design is very simple, but do not be fooled as the headphone itself is very powerful. The look may just be regular, but it is all about what is on the inside that counts. For its price, it has fantastic sound quality, even better than some of the more expensive ones! It has a very strong audio performance.

Specifications:

  • Brand: Soundcore
  • Color: Various
  • Connections: Bluetooth
  • Headphones Form Factor: In Ear
  • Noise Control: Active Noise Cancellation
Pros
  • Affordable
  • Exellent base-forward audio
  • Water-resistant design
Cons
  • Low battery life

I immediately noticed an issue with the pair of liberty air earphones I received the same day that they arrived. Less than 15 minutes on the phone later and Anker’s customer support resolved my worries and told me they would replace the faulty pair. 3 days later the new pair arrived and they work amazing! Huge shoutout to Anker and their amazing, unbeatable customer support. Big thanks especially to Britney, the awesome customer support rep that spoke with me and helped me out! I’ve used them at the gym and around the house, listening to music, podcasts, and youtube videos and the sound quality is very good. I’m no audiophile but the sound is excellent in my opinion, especially considering the fact that they are true wireless. They easily pair to my iPhone SE and my windows 10 laptop, they can’t be paired at the same time though so you’ll have to unpair from your phone and pair to your other device when you swap between which is not an issue at all for me. I have to mention the charging case. It is sleek and small and fits great in my pocket. The resting position for the earbuds in the case is magnetic so they won’t slip out of position, and the case closes and stays closed until you open it again. It also has a charging light on it so you can see the battery level of the case. And the case charges them when you put them in! It’s great to be able to charge while on the go. I’ll update my review as time goes on. For now, these are incredible, especially for the price.

Before buying the Best Wireless Headphones For Running

Every pair of headphones is different as each has a different fit, style, build. Some people find it too hard to even wear headphones while running because they are not able to find the right one for themselves. This often causes people to feel frustrated and and then therefore just go on their run without even listening to music. I want to help you the best way that I can in order for not that to happen to you. Below I have come up with some questions that you should ask yourself before buying to help you understand the ones you need:

  • How much am I willing to spend in the headphones?
  • How much do I care about the looks of the headphones?
  • How comfortable do I need the headphones to be?

Price

Why are some running headphones pricer than others? This is mainly due to how many features each headphone has. The more the feature, the higher the price. Therefore you have to consider what functions you want on your headphones while running. Do you need to be able to control the sound level from the headphones itself? Or is controlling the sound level from your phone screen just fine? That is surely a feature to consider.

Looks

How do I need the build to be? Small and dainty or big and bulky? It’s a preference thing, and therefore that’s why it solely depends on you. Some people might not even care about the look as they care more about the quality. While some want to be stylish so if the look isn’t great, they won’t buy it.

Comfort

Each set of headphones for running have a different fit. What’s comfortable for one person can be uncomfortable for you. Therefore it is good to know what style you like in a pair of headphones. Do you just like the in ear ones? Or do you like the ones with ear hooks? Some prefer one over the other therefore comfortness is based on the person who is using it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are many types of headphones out there for running. Some are more expensive than others, only because the brands are just more well known and have some added features. Beats seem to be a very popular option, but if you’re not a big spender there are chapter options that will do just about the same. I hope this guide helps you into choosing the pair of headphones that is best for you while running!
