Sample Customer Reviews…This Schwinn Nautilus recumbent bike was easy to assemble using tools that came with the bike. Comfortable seat, easy to program, and looks great! I like the manual resistance settings, USB to charge a phone, and mp3 connection. Has Bluetooth too. The drink cup holder is a nice add-on. The bike feels great pedaling. Great value/quality for the price. Did I mention the bike looks fantastic in my little corner near my weights?! Careful in opening the packages that came in a big box as I accidentally cut the pulse reading wire. Luckily I don’t use the pulse feature in these types of products so no big loss to not be able to read my pulse. I’m not trying to get too technical with my workouts. But if you need the pulse reader then be careful with your scissors opening the packages!!! I cannot think of anything negative for a product in this price range.

Sample Customer Review…After doing a lot of research for a bike that would be easy to put together, comfortable to sit in and use, and have enough options to be able to challenge myself, I landed on this bike. I’m so glad I did. It was easy to assemble, took one person maybe 30 minutes to do. Instructions were clear. It seems well made and is holding up well after a few months of use by me, my husband, and my 6-year-old who’s a little rougher on it at times. I love that it’s easily adjusted and moving it around the house is easy. Our workout space is in the garage but recently thought I would try it in our office area to see if I would utilize it more throughout the workday, and it was super easy and fairly light to move around. I love the size, it fits easily into many spots. It’s quiet and gets the job done, setting are simple and easy to understand. The seat is comfortable for someone who is in shape and for someone out of shape. I fully recommend this one, it’s a great value!

Specifications

- Dimensions: 20 x 17 x 54 inches
- Product Weight: 43 Pounds
- Resistance: 8 levels
Sample Customer Review…I just passed the 500-mile mark on this bike so thought it was time to review it. My husband assembled it and I don’t think he was expecting much when we ordered it, but he said he was amazed at the quality and how sturdy it was. It is still running smoothly at 500 miles, the display has always worked the way it’s supposed to. When I was shopping for bikes one thing that was hard to determine was how much variability in resistance there was, I was concerned the resistance might not go up high enough (ha), this bike I think goes up to around an 8 and I use it at a 4 because I do high-intensity interval training and 4 is plenty of resistance for a good workout at higher speeds. I’m 5’4″ and it’s comfortable, I do put a pillow behind my back, or else I’d be too far back on the seat, and that works fine. For the price, I’m amazed you can get a bike like this.

4. Schwinn 230
[amazon box=”B01KAGX74E” description=” ” rating=”4.5″]

The seat on this machine is mounted on a slide rail, so it is easy to adjust. Regardless of your size or shape, this bike will work for you.
Specifications
- Maximum Weight Capacity: 300 Pounds
- Dimensions: 64 x 27.7 x 49.9 inches
- Product Weight: 81.6 Pounds
Resistance: 20 levels
Sample Customer Review…Bought this recumbent bike to help build up strength and stamina. It is very quiet and extremely adjustable to fit everyone in our family. It has the ability to set up and track more than one user on the computer. It has both pre-entered programs and the ability to build your own programs. Additionally, if you don’t care about tracking individual riders’ use or utilizing programs, you can just get on, set the seat for your correct proportions, and start peddling. A simple push of a button increases or decreases the resistance. It also has a holder for a tablet or mobile phone which is a great feature if you want a different visual in front of you, or you want to listen to music or an audible book. This is a good, solid piece of exercise equipment and another plus is that it isn’t too oversized that it is difficult to find a place in the house to set it up. Our recumbent bike is in our TV room. Seeing it there has motivated us to work out on it a lot more often than if it was relegated to a bedroom or garage.

Specifications
- Dimensions: 49.8 x 24.1 x 13.4 inches
- Product Weight: 108 Pounds
- Resistance: 16 levels
Sample Customer Review…I debated whether to spend the extra money, but after reading many of the reviews, I decided to take a chance. I’m glad I did. I love this bike. It is very quiet so watching TV is no problem. When the carton was delivered, it had some damage (probably due to its weight) however, the bike itself was not. We first thought we were missing two packs of hardware but then realized, the hardware was installed on the bike. My husband and I put the bike together within two hours. The only part of the instructions where the diagram was hard to understand was for the plug-in on the pulse reader hand grips. Looking at it, we thought it was in the end piece. We finally found it on the left side in the housing under the seat. I like the fact that you can walk through the middle and the seat is pretty much chair height so getting up and sitting down is easy. Sitting by the bike and reading how to select a program and doing it – is the best way of learning how to use the many program selections it offers. I would recommend this bike.

Specifications
- Maximum Weight Capacity: 300 Pounds
- Product Weight: 105 Pounds
- Resistance: 25 levels
Sample Customer Review…Okay, let’s see. The item arrived in just a few days, the box was intact. All parts were in the box, as were all fasteners and tools.
Assembly was simple. I assembled it by myself in about an hour. This was designed for the novice assembler to be able to complete the task. Most parts that were to be attached with a screw or bold already have the screws partially inserted in the correct spot, so, no question as to whether you are using the right fastener. Good idea. Very clear instructions. I have assembled a lot of exercise machines, this was one of the easiest.
The exercise cycle is really quiet. The structure is stable. The electronics panel actually works. It’s probably not for your avid road cycling, full kit, carbon fiber racing rig person. It’s too upright for that. For the rest, this is a good choice. Nice bells and whistles. Built-in speakers that can be used with your audio or video device. Multi-speed, adjustable direction fan.
Have a crescent wrench set on hand, the wrench provided is not up to the task of tightening the saddle in place or sufficiently tightening the pedals in place. When taking the parts out of the box you’ll encounter a thin piece of wire coated with white plastic, about two feet long. Don’t lose it, it is for fishing a wire through the mast, and it makes this easy.

[amazon box=”B07CYKZ962″ description=” ” rating=”4.3″]

This bike is perfect for both beginner and intermediate riders. It offers eight levels of tension. With only these eight levels, it may not be as suitable for advanced riders. The LCD screen will keep track of your workout statistics.
Specifications
- Maximum Weight Capacity: 250 Pounds
- Product Weight: 121 Pounds
- Resistance: 8 levels
Sample Customer Review…This is the best machine ever worth every penny. The seat slides forward and back. There are a number of settings to go uphill on the bike and steep. The hand rower is wonderful and you can use both at the same time. I think it is worth every penny. One thing though if you are really tall you might have trouble using the bike and the rower at the same time. My grandson tried it, he is very tall, like 6’5″ and he kept banging his knees with the rower. It would be a timing thing for taller people. But it is a great machine I am handicap and I use it every day now. Getting stronger.

8. ProForm 235 CSX Recumbent Bike
[amazon box=”B01AC9V3JA” description=” ” rating=”4.3″]
This bike is compact and foldable for those who don’t want or have the ability to leave it out all the time. This compact size, however, might make it uncomfortable or even difficult for tall people to use. The seat is adjustable, allowing for multiple users, and the resistance levels have 18 different settings customizable to your needs and strengths.
A built-in display allows you to track all kinds of stats, including distance, calories burned, and even your heart rate. Also built-in are a set of speakers and a bottle holder, so you can keep your music and hydration on hand during your workout.
Specifications
- Maximum Weight Capacity: 275 pounds
- Dimensions: 40 x 21 x 61 in
- Product Weight: 102 pounds
- Resistance: 18 levels
Sample Customer Review…Excellent product! The adjustments for tall or short people are easy to use and actually accommodates my son who is 6’7” and my niece who 5’2”. The only thing they could improve upon is the handlebars. When you pedal, if you have long legs (I have 38” inseam), and aren’t just in the right position, your knees hit the lowest part of the bars. Please fix this. Otherwise, I have had it for over six months, love it, and nothing has gone wrong! I ride three to six miles a day, and still am using the original batteries I out on the day I bought it. Very efficient.
Directions were easy to follow. In all honesty, the hardest part was getting the right angle to tighten some of the bolts. After assembly, it operates as expected. The way it switches between some of the statistics takes some getting used to, but once you do, it makes sense. It’s a sturdy unit and very stable when in use. Overall, a good product.

9. 3G Cardio Elite RB Exercise Bike
[amazon box=”B0765ZM52J” description=” ” rating=”4.8″]
The 3G Cardio Elite bike is on the expensive side of things but is considered one of the most comfortable home bikes available. The bike is compact, with a small footprint, but is also on the heavy side, so it might be difficult to move or put away when it’s not in use.
This bike comes with 12 preset workouts and 16 levels of resistance to accommodate different skill and strength abilities. The console has backlit controls, making them easy to see and use. It also comes with a chest strap included for those who wish to keep track of their heart rate.
Specifications
- Maximum Weight Capacity: 350 Pounds
- Dimensions: 49 x 27 x 43 inches
- Product Weight: 115 Pounds
- Resistance: 16 levels
Sample Customer Review…I am very pleased with this bike. It is well made, comfortable, super quiet, and has a small enough footprint (49″ x 27″) that makes it easy to use in a home. It is described as Light Professional in several reviews on exercise equipment sites.
The seat is easily adjustable to provide any position you would like. I have serious back problems, but no back pain at all when using this bike.
Common target settings are available for time, speed, load resistance, calories, and pulse rate. For novices like me, this is enough. For the more athletic exerciser who wants consistency of workouts for weight loss and cardiovascular functions, there is a watt setting. There was a small learning curve for me to master all the features… but I’m an octogenarian. Whenever I have a question, a real support person is a phone call away.
This is a great bike, with excellent service and support. I do not regret this purchase.

10. HCI Fitness Physiocycle XT-800
[amazon box=”B0035HB41O” description=” ” rating=”3.9″]
One of the current top exercise bikes is the HCI Fitness Physio Cycle XT800. This device is just like any other stationary bike, but it also includes arm pedals so you can incorporate the upper body into your workout.
This exercise bike has a sturdy frame with a weight limit of 300 pounds. It also has an adjustable, breathable, and padded 15-position seat that lets you find your perfect fit. If you only want to focus on your legs, it has a mesh backrest, adjustable pedals, and handles on the sides.
The Physio Bicycle XT-800 is quiet and has magnetic resistance. The resistance level is controlled by push buttons, which appear on the LCD screen.
Specifications
- Dimensions: 37 x 24 x 58 inches
- Product Weight: 146 Pounds
- Resistance: 8 levels
Sample Customer Review…Having used this for only a few weeks, I can still say this is a great quality exercise bike. I had therapy for a shoulder injury a couple of years ago and this bike (especially the upper body ergometer) seems as high quality as the one they had me warm up on at the physical therapy clinic. It does require assembly, but everything was included and assembly went smoothly. The only glitch was that one of the hubs for the hand cranks was installed upside down at the factory so the hand pedals would have been in the wrong position, but I pulled it with a gear puller and flipped it and after that, everything went together well. So far, I am not using the set programs, but I think they will be useful once I have my endurance built up. Mechanically, it is very smooth. I’m sure there are great bikes out there that are less expensive, but since the UBE was a must-have for me, I am very pleased with this unit.

Buying Guide: Things to Consider Before Buying Best Recumbent Bikes
Data tracking
Some models of recumbent bikes have LCD screens that display statistics such as time and distance so you can track your progress. Some machines also have the option to switch users. These bikes allow you to build different profiles and remember things like height, weight, and progress, making them ideal for families.
Resistance adjustment and pre-programmed exercise
Resistance is one of the most important features of recumbent bikes. You should be able to quickly change your resistance to offer a challenge and not add any pauses in your workout. Some exercise bikes allow you to control the pre-programmed exercises. Some even give you workouts based on your heart rate!
Downloadable data
Some exercise bikes give you the option to connect your data to apps on your phone so you can keep track of your progress. Oftentimes, these apps come with other capabilities as well, like workout suggestions or encouragement to continue your progress. It is something to keep in mind when you consider what kind of experience you want from your recumbent bike.
Speakers and fans
Some recumbent bikes come with some cool features such as cooling fans and speakers, as well as USB charging ports so you can plug in your device and listen to music. These features can enhance your workout experience, or you may find them to be distracting. It is all about personal preference. How many bells and whistles do you want? Will these features make you more or less likely to use your bike?
Flywheels
The heavier the flywheel, the more realistic your workout will feel. Think about the type of feel you want while riding your bike. Do you want it to feel smooth and mechanical? Or resemble the feeling of riding an actual bike?
Adjusted seating position
You want a bike that allows you to adjust the front and back of the seat so you can find the best comfort for you or anyone else who might use the bike. This especially comes in handy for people of different heights using the same machine. There is no one size fits all seat!
Warranty
A warranty on your bike shows that the manufacturer is confident in the quality of the machine. Even recumbent bikes on the less expensive end are quite the investment. You should feel confident in your purchase.
Weight capacity
Most exercise bikes can accommodate users weighing at least 250 lbs, but it does vary. It is always a good idea to look at the specifications to make sure you or your family will feel safe and comfortable while using the bike.
