Are you new to sewing but want a great starter sewing machine that can complete basic sewing tasks? The Brother LS2125i sewing machine is a model made for casual sewing for beginners and doesn’t fail to uphold the Brother brand. Thanks to its lightweight of just 13 pounds, as well as the dimensions being compact, the sewing machine is very portable. It’s easy to learn, too.
You get 10 stitches to work with and 4 automatic buttonholes. Like other Brother models, the Brother LS2125i comes with a foot pedal to control your sewing speed and many accessories to enrich your sewing experience. Of the included accessories there are 3 bobbins, a needle set, twin needle, screwdriver, darning plate, and three presser feet: a zipper foot, button sewing foot, and buttonhole foot. It requires a voltage of 120 volt AC and comes with a 25-year warranty.
Basic Brother LS2125i: Key Features
Some of its basic features are the small dimensions. Measuring 15 x 6 x 11, its footprint would be small enough to fit in most workspaces. And because it’s a smaller manual sewing machine, the weight is also lighter.
The tension control dial is another basic feature that’s very easy to use. Its purpose is to make sure that the stitches are smooth and neat. If you find that the stitch is too loose you can twist the knob to the right to increase the tension. Is it too tight? Then simply twist the knob to the right to loosen it.
The stitch selector dial correlates to the stitch number and image depicted on the frame of the sewing machine. With an easy twist, you can change in between 10 different stitches to suit your needs.
Buttons are a common sewing notion that can add style. With the automatic four-step buttonhole function, you’ll be able to easily create a buttonhole with the presser foot included.
Winding a bobbin is a necessary function in every modern sewing machine and it’s been made easier in this model. On the top of the machine, set your thread spool and bobbin in place and begin the winding process with a touch of a button.
The 10 built-in stitches are elastic stitches, straight stitches, blind hem, satin stitches, and zig-zag stitches.
Due to the Snap-On design, the 3 included presser feet can be easily and quickly interchanged.
The threading is a simple task that is shown on the body of the machine. Just follow the small diagrams and you’ll have the threading done in a blink of an eye!
The free arm feature is great for sewing on circular parts such as sleeves or the cuffs of your pants.
Reverse stitch lever
The lever on the sewing machine allows you to quickly back-stitch to reinforce the end of the stitching. A quick push and release and you’ve finished secured your thread from becoming loose.
You won’t have to worry about where to store away your sewing accessories. The Brother LS2125i has a sewing compartment built into the removable free arm so you get to have a space for the little tools and accessories you have. It’s also great in that you won’t have to search for them as they’re kept with the sewing machine itself.

Sample Customer Review… I got it to do simple sewing such as shortening cuffs on pants and other small jobs a little too complex to do by hand. For the seventy-five buck price I was expecting a simple device that was powered by a wall-wart DC supply and having an unreliable, difficult operation.
Just the opposite. First, it’s heavy: about 14 pounds, meaning lots of steel and copper in the mechanism train. Nothing shoddy. It’s my first sewing machine and I spent an hour or two getting it running and practiced sewing on an old cotton sheet. I used most of the 10 settings with no trouble. Everything worked well. I kept a reference pattern I created showing most all the stitch settings. It doesn’t ship with thread so I also bought a set of pre-wound bobbins and a pack of 24 spools. This included a needle threader that was essential for me.
As an engineer I was very pleased by the quality of the mechanical components. The parts are machined and finished to a completely functional and reliable degree of mechanical perfection. I honestly can’t understand how this multi-component machine can be sold at even twice the price. Just look at the bobbin assembly to get an idea of what I’m talking about. Wow.Read more reviews at Amazon.com.
Overall the Brother LS2125i is a great sewing machine for beginners and can complete lightweight sewing projects. To give some perspective, consider lightweight sewing to be making pillowcases and curtains. This is not the machine to buy if you plan on sewing with thicker fabric like wool or velvet. You’ll have to consider the type of fabric you intend to use even if you’re just making a simple t-shirt as it may be problematic if the sewing machine can’t properly stitch it.
Although reviews are generally very good, there have been some reviews reporting problems with the bobbin compartment locking up randomly. This leads to messy, uneven stitching on either the top or bottom side of the fabric. Sometimes there were tension issues that even broke the needle. Fortunately, these issues don’t happen very often but it’s important to consider these issues if you’re thinking about buying this sewing machine.
If you’re on a budget or want to avoid spending a lot, this sewing machine is very budget-friendly. Unfortunately, this model is discontinued. However, if you want this model, you can scour the web pages of eBay and find someone who’s selling this sewing machine. There are also options for buying the used sewing machines on Amazon.
Hopefully, you’ve found this brother ls2125i review very helpful!
