1. Race Ramps RR-56-2

An even more suitable ramp for all low-profile vehicles, the Race Ramps RR-56-2 is a two-piece set that features a detachable sloped section so that you have more accessibility to the underbody of your car. Not only do they have the reduced degree of approach that all low vehicle driver’s love, but it also has an ideal amount of clearance that you’ll need for tune-ups, oil changes, accessing suspension components and detailing jobs.

This Race Ramp is 56 inches long, and due to the combination of this longer length and a gentler angle of incline, of 10.8 degrees, you’re able to mount your car unscathed. The solid core design and high density of the expanded polystyrene enable this ramp to withstand any automotive chemicals. Due to the polyurea coating, it makes this product resistant to slippage, ridding you of the worry of your vehicle sliding off of the ramp during mounting, especially if your tires have debris on them. Able to be used in areas that have dirt, grass, sand, or concrete, the bottom of these ramps have rubber footings to prevent the product from sliding around while it’s being used.

Another one of Race Ramp’s greatest products, the RR-56-2 ramps are especially great for lower profile vehicles but can even accommodate other everyday cars as well. The 8 inches of clearance is definitely a perk, in addition to its removable sloped secondary piece so that you can more accessibly reach other parts of your car’s underbody. The only notable drawback of this product is the higher price point, but if you do decide to purchase these, you are definitely getting a great bang for your buck.

Specifications:

  • 56 inches long
  • 8 inches of clearance
  • 10.8-degree angle of approach
  • Space-age foam
  • Polyurea coating
  • Rubber anti-slip footings
  • 12.43 pounds
  • Withstands 1,500 pounds per ramp, 6,000 pounds max
Pros
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Great clearance area
  • Accommodates low clearance vehicles
  • Secondary removable piece for more accessibility
  • Anti-slip footings
Cons
  • Expensive

Before I bought these, I read one review where someone said they could only be used with “high-performance racing tires.” False. I read another review where someone said they are just painted foam. False. I don’t know what these are made of, but it is a very high-strength and lightweight compound. I used them yesterday for the first time and they performed exactly as they should. I used them on a dirt surface. The vehicle was a classic 1982 Jeep Scrambler wearing aggressive BFG KO2 All-Terrain tires. As a back-up, I put a couple of 6-ton jack stands under the front axle. They weren’t necessary. At the end of a day of work in the hot sun, the ramps still looked new. I thought I might see some tread indentations with the aggressive, heavy-lugged tires, but there were none. I drove the Jeep down off the ramps and you could not tell they had even been used…aside from some dust. Yes, these ramps are more expensive than others on Amazon, but they are worth every penny. I now trust them without reservation.

2. Race Ramps RR-40

Most notably as one of the best auto ramps in the market, the Race Ramps RR-40 is one of the best ramps for mounting your vehicle for maintenance work. When Race Ramps designed this product, they had one thing in mind and that was better assistance for those who drive lower profile cars such as sports or exotic vehicles. This way, when lower cars are being driven up the ramp, the underbody or front and back bumpers aren’t scratched or damaged in the process.

At 40 inches long, the RR-40 ramps lift your car up with a 7-inch clearance so that you’re able to fit underneath it with some maneuvering room. Each ramp is able to withstand 1,500 pounds and can accommodate a tire size no more than 8 inches wide. Made out of lightweight, expanded polystyrene foam, the construction of this product makes it easily portable so that you can move it around the garage stress-free and even bring it on the go with you. The tire stoppers at the end of the platform also assist with urging you to stop driving forward so that your vehicle can rest safely on the ramp.

Unfortunately, these ramps can become bulgy and lose their structural integrity if too much weight bears on top of them. The Race Ramp RR-40s can be more expensive compared to the brand’s other products but if you’re looking for a ramp that is not only compatible with your everyday car and your sports car, then this one is the one for you.

Specifications:

  • 40 inches long
  • 7 inches of clearance
  • 16.7-degree angle of approach
  • 8.47 pounds
  • For tire widths of 8 inches maximum
  • Lightweight expanded polystyrene foam
  • Hybrid polyurea coating
  • Withstands 1,500 pounds per ramp, 6,000 pounds max
Pros
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Great clearance area
  • Accommodates low clearance vehicles
Cons
  • Can lose form under a lot of weight
  • Expensive
  • Doesn’t accommodate tires larger than 8 inches wide

After quite a bit of reading reviews on Amazon and other sites I was worried about picking up some of the less expensive (or even equally expensive) other brands. I am a safety nut and wanted something safe. I have a 2012 Jetta TDI which required me to either get 2 jacks or use ramps for oil changes and the such. When I pulled out the ramps, I truly did not trust them at all. They were so lightweight that I doubted them. But, I WAS WRONG! These ramps have now held up to quite a bit of use. They don’t slide around, they support the car perfectly and don’t seem to deform or give any indication of failure, or reasons to doubt them. I have used some old heavy metal ramps in the past and these seem just as sturdy and weigh almost nothing. One trick (since I am paranoid about driving over the stops) is I actually use the amazon packing bubbles on the tire stop, that way as I roll forward I can hear the “pop” and I know I have gone far enough.

3. Race Ramps RR-EX-14

Although the Race Ramps RR-EX-14 are not technically a ramp because they’re extenders for other Race Ramp products, they’re still a great product to consider when you’re thinking about mounting your vehicle. The purpose of these extenders is to give either your everyday vehicle or low profile vehicle an easy and gentle incline to the ramp platforms.

Only compatible with Race Ramps that are 56 to 67 inches long, these ramp extenders were made for gradual inclines and a smooth lift. With the 6-step incline, this product works to prevent damage from occurring to the underbody of your car while you drive it up the ramps. This Race Ramp product also boasts a high stable load bear that evenly distributes the weight of your car throughout the ramps.

On the bottoms of these, there are anti-slip rubber footings that prevent the product from sliding around the garage floor while you mount your vehicle as well. With a solid core, you don’t have to worry about residue or dirt from building up while the product is in storage either.

These Race Ramp extenders are quite expensive, especially since they’re not the ramp themselves. Another notable drawback is that it can only be used with the 56- or 67-inch Race Ramp products, which makes it a pain to make sure that you purchase the right products together at the same time. If you already have one of these ramps, and you don’t mind spending a little extra to ensure that your vehicle mounts unscathed, then the Race Ramp RR-EX-14 is for you.

Specifications:

  • 67 inches long
  • 6.6-degree angle of approach
  • 10 pounds
  • Anti-slip rubber footings
  • For tire widths of 12 inches maximum
  • Only compatible with 56- or 67-inch Race Ramps
Pros
  • Durable construction
  • Accommodates low clearance vehicles
  • Anti-slip footings
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Can only be used with 56- and 67-inch Race Ramps

Perfect complement to the standard Race Ramps product. I have a low-front spoiler on an E39 BMW M5 and these extenders remove any possibility of a scrape or a bind with the spoiler before my tires are on the ramps. All RR products are well constructed. I do a lot of my own work and these ramps get a lot of use – very durable and no signs of stress or wear. The cellular composition is both light and very strong – amazing what they’ve produced. I also use there winter storage product to take the wheels off the ground for the winter without having to jack up the car and remove the wheels – which can be somewhat dangerous in a home garage. This product is intended to reduce flat-spotting. I still experienced a bit of corrective bouncing after taking the car off the pads in the Spring but just getting the rubber off the concrete had value to me.

4. Race Ramp RR-30

Although this ramp has a shorter length, the RaceRamp RR-30s are still able to accommodate lower profile vehicles such as Subarus, BMWs, Evos, and Miatas. Like any other Race Ramp product, there are numerous features that these ramps have that you’d find extremely helpful and convenient.

With a length of 30 inches, these ramps have a sharp incline, so it may not be well suited for low profile vehicles. Although this may be true, they are very suitable for the use of maintaining or displaying your vehicle, especially if you’re planning on leaving them mounted for extended periods of time. Due to the high-density construction of these ramps, this product boasts maximum strength and long life.

This is proved by the fact that it can support up to 6,000 pounds worth of weight and accommodates tires of an 8-inch width. On the tops of the ramps, there is a unique texture that provides extra traction to your tires so that it prevents your vehicle can mount this product safely. The lightweight of each ramp and the built-in handles make them easily portable to take on the go with you as well.

The Race Ramp RR-30 is highly inexpensive, which makes this product even more attractive and convenient for your use. The anti-slip features, easy portability, and durable construction of these ramps make them one of the better Race Ramps that you could consider purchasing.

Specifications:

  • 30 inches long
  • 16.7-degree angle of approach
  • 5 inches of clearance
  • 4 pounds
  • Lightweight, high-density foam
  • Traction coating on the bottoms
  • For tire widths of 8 inches maximum
  • Withstands 1,500 pounds per ramp, 6,000 pounds max
Pros
  • Durable construction
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Anti-slip footings
Cons
  • May not be enough clearance for some applications
  • Does not accommodate low profile vehicles

I have a pair of the old Blitz Rhino Ramps (not the current Rhino Ramps) that would work with wide tires and not collapse or crack. These Race Ramps RR-30’s are similar dimensions. While they say that only 8 inch wide tires work on these, I’ve driven 275s onto the old Rhino Ramps so I imagine those tires would work on these RR-30s as well. These are made of some kind of injection molded foam/polymer with a 1500 lb weight rating per ramp. By my estimation, using a 60/40 weight distribution common to most front-engine vehicles, this means a maximum curb weight of 5000 lb (which is heavier than an Explorer). The RR-30s are a bit more expensive than Rhino Ramps, but these are well worth it based on quality alone.

5. Black Widow PSR295

Another one of the better auto ramps, the Black Widow ramps are also a good alternative to Race Ramp products. More for larger vehicles, it’s compatible with large trucks, vans, SUVs and large sedans. With its relatively high clearance, it gives you the space that you need so that you can do work on the underbody of your vehicle.

Made out of long-lasting plastic, these ramps are made to be sturdy, which is proven by its higher weight capacity of up to 16,000 pounds. The purpose of this product is heavy-duty lifting but it also balances the weight of your vehicle so that there is no shaking during mounting and so that your car can sit comfortably on the on-ramp platform.

The grooves in the surface of the ramp assist with traction and also encourage any debris to fall off of the tires and into the holes of the product. The rubber footings on the bottom of the ramp prevent it from sliding around your garage as well, also contributing to the overall sturdy reputation that the Black Widow ramps boast.

One of the things that you might consider is particularly steep so it might not be suited for low clearance vehicles. Another thing to think about is that although these are on the heavier side which can hinder portability, there are handle cutouts that assist with this issue so that you can take them anywhere on the go with you.

Although these are some drawbacks that you will have to consider when purchasing, the Black Widow ramps are definitely a great contender outside of the best Race Ramps.

Specifications:

  • 35.5 inches long
  • 6.25 inches of clearance
  • High-impact plastic
  • 18 pounds
  • Anti-slip rubber footings
  • Maximum weight capacity of 16,000 pounds
Pros
  • Durable construction
  • Extra traction
  • Mostly portable
  • Anti-slip footings
  • Great clearance area
  • Withstands heavier vehicles
Cons
  • Somewhat portable
  • Does not accommodate low profile vehicles

Verified purchase after doing allot of research. Got these I had locked on these and the Canadian brand Scepter. I wish Scepter had this size. Would be right on it. Since I used to be in the plastic industry and I do know Scepter well that name speaks for itself + made in Canada. As for plastic Car Ramps. Many don’t digest the fact that you can go underneath a Vehicle on Plastic with your Life down there. This is a 2019 Lincoln Navigator L. A 6000lb of body on frame and most of any Vehicles weight is mid/front. These Wheels are R22s so you can see the amount of space they take width 285 the width perfect I wish the flat area had 2more inches. But this is what it is and job done. Although 2 matters any plastic part should have manufacture date and more importantly expiry date. Like childrens car seats and boosters are required. I do belive for safety reasons for these kind of ramps that rule should also be emplied. Since plastic is a carbon particle and molecules expand, meaning product weakens with time, also heat /sun has its impact accelerating the molecular disintegration process.. 2ndly if I owned this product I would not put that name on it its sarcastic we all know the Widow maker so BLACK WIDOW for a Car Ramp sounds hallarious.. Great product. Use it wisely and never forget SAFETY First.

6. RhinoGear RhinoRamps

Although you can never go wrong with a Race Ramp, you also have to consider other brands and products to see if they are better suited for your uses and intentions. The RhinoRamps are one of the best considerations outside of the Race Ramp brand due to their durable construction, inexpensive price point, and lightweight that serves greatly for portability and storing.

With the 17-degree angle of approach and 6.5 inches of clearance that this product offers, you can already tell that it provides two features that you will need for working underneath your vehicle. Since this product can support a larger amount of maximum weight of up to 12,000 pounds, you can be sure to use this with some of your heavier vehicles such as SUVs and small trucks.

There is also a rubber pad placed in the front of the ramp so that it can’t slip and slide around your garage when you’re mounting your vehicle. Another convenient feature of this ramp is that it’s stackable and lightweight, making it easily storable and portable.

Some consumers have complained that these ramps have failed upon the first time of using them so you may want to consider using some kind of extra support to lift your vehicle, such as a jack. Since it’s made of a plastic polymer, there is a chance that it can become brittle with time and use.

The edges can crack if they’re used in cold temperatures because of the amount of weight that bears down on them. Besides these drawbacks, the RhinoRamps can be one of your considerations if you find that you can’t decide on a Race Ramp product.

Specifications:

  • 6.5 inches of clearance
  • 17-degree angle of approach
  • 10.74 pounds
  • Heavy-duty polymer
  • For tire widths of 9 inches maximum
  • CoreTRAC non-skid base
  • Maximum weight capacity of 12,000 pounds
Pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Anti-slip footings
  • Great clearance area
Cons
  • Somewhat durable construction
  • May need extra lifting support

These ramps are extremely well made and very sturdy. They held my CR-V without any issue at all. After seeing some of the failures, I was sure to check for bowing or cracks. I didn’t see even a little flex in the sides of the ramps. A few things I like. There are rubber grips on the bottom that prevent the ramps from sliding out as long as they are on a clean floor. The ramps fit inside each other, so they take up less space in the garage. The front lip on the top is very pronounced, making it easy to tell when you are on the top of the ramp. The ramps also have plenty of grooves to prevent your tires from slipping. A few things to prevent failures. Make sure the tires are centered with the ramps. Check and recheck. If a tire is not center, you may put too much weight on one side, leading to a failure. Have someone guide you if you are unsure. Only use the ramp on a clean, smooth, level surface. These are really made for paved driveways with zero grade or a garage floor. Don’t leave the ramps outside in the sun. They are a plastic material and plastic does degrade over time. Direct sunlight will speed this process up. Check the ramps for any cracks before using them. Don’t exceed the limit of the ramp. Always chock your tires and use a second safety measure like jack stands, a floor jack, or stacked blocks of wood in case there is a failure while in use.

7. Nicky Nice Ramp Set

Another one of the renowned auto ramps that are great for mounting your vehicle is the Nicky Nice ramps. They are known for their strong and durable construction, the extra traction and support that they offer, and their inexpensive price. These are easily compatible with cars such as trucks and SUVs because of the higher amount of maximum weight load that these can handle.

Able to support up to 6,500 pounds maximum, these solid steel auto ramps are the go-to if you’re looking to maximize durability. On the surfaces of these ramps, there are punched and extruded traction holes that allow your vehicle to mount this product easily and safely.

There are also safety ribs on the edges of the ramps to assist with guiding your tires to the ramp platforms as well. In addition to the extra traction, there is also a powder coat finish that was applied to ensure that this product lives a long life without the worry of it wearing out quickly with repeated use.

One of the most notable drawbacks of this ramp is that it lacks anti-slip rubber footings that are customary for other auto ramps. This means that they are susceptible to slipping around while you drive your vehicle up to the platform of these ramps, so be sure to mount your car carefully.

Another thing that you want to keep in mind is that this product cannot lift lower profile vehicles without damaging the underbody or front and back bumpers because of the steeper incline.

At an inexpensive price, the Nicky Nice ramps are a great deal if you’re looking for a ramp that will endure a long life and is made out of strong construction. If you are new to mounting your vehicle, then you will find that it is difficult to do so when using these because of the lack of anti-slip features on the bottoms of these ramps. Our recommendation is that you really think about this product before purchasing.

Specifications:

  • 35 inches long
  • Solid steel
  • Powder coat finish
  • Safety ribs on sides
  • Punched and extruded traction holes
  • Maximum weight capacity of 6,500 pounds
Pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Durable construction
  • Extra traction
Cons
  • Can slide around during mounting
  • Does not accommodate low profile vehicles

I used these for my 2017 Honda CR-V and 2015 Chevrolet Cruze and you can feel rest assured that crawling under your vehicle while rolled on these ramps that you are safe. The ramps are solidly built of steel and and have a raised lip at the end of the hardware so that you know when to stop accelerating your car. Also have holes on the incline part to provide bonus traction for your tires to prevent vehicle slippage. 1/4″ holes are punched out on each ramp so that they can be hung up for storage, also they are stackable.

8. Discount Ramps 6009-V2

Made especially for those lower profile vehicles, the Discount Ramps are another one of your best bets if you’re not comfortable with lifting your car too high off of the ground. Although they’re made out of plastic, it’s durable and strong enough to withstand cars and trucks alike. One of the most distinguishing features of this ramp is that it’s meant for a small amount of clearance so that you can further lift it with a jack or a service lift.

Ideal for any low profile car, such as sports or exotics, the gentle incline of this ramp is what you need to make sure that there is no damage done to your vehicle. On the tops of this product, there is a honeycomb pattern that assists in preventing any kind of moisture build-up that can occur when any debris falls off of your tires during mounting. Since the heavy-duty plastic can withstand a maximum weight capacity of 4,400 pounds, this makes this strong enough for most vehicles.

What this ramp lacks are the anti-slip rubber footings on the bottom so this ramp has the probability of sliding around during use. Another drawback to consider is that you will need the additional tools to further lift your car if you plan on performing any oil changes and other maintenance to the underbody of your vehicle. These inexpensive ramps do have these missing features but are really helpful to those who do have lower cars.

Specifications:

  • 2.5 inches of clearance
  • 9.05-degree angle of approach
  • Maximum weight capacity of 4,400 pounds
  • 9 pounds
  • Honeycomb pattern which prevents moisture build-up
  • Tire stopper
Pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Durable construction
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Accommodates low clearance vehicles
Cons
  • No anti-slip footings
  • May not be enough clearance for some applications

These are the only ramps that I can find that fully clear the front splitter on a C7 Corvette Grand Sport/ Stingray with splitter. My C7 is also lowered on the stock bolts so I needed a low profile ramp solution to help me get the jack underneath from the front….basically giving me a little lift so that the jack will clear the front splitter. With these ramps I can slide the jack right under the front splitter and lift the Corvette right from the front chassis support structure making it so easy to lift the car! Awesome ramps!

9. Magnum 1002-01 Car Ramp

Magnum ramp is a ramp that has is part of 4 piece set with the ability to stand great weight. It has safety features to hold the car firm in place. This race car ramp is known for its high-quality features and can meet most people’s standards. These ramps are lightweight and easy to store away.

Specifications:

  • Hold up to 16,000 lbs
  • A safety chock
  • 4 piece set
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to store and carry
  • Reasonable priced
Cons
  • Doesn’t suit the every car

Some Amazon reviews…I bought a set of these in October of 2017 and we use them everyday in the service shop. They’ve been used on hundreds of dodge, Chevy and Fords with diesels with no troubles. The only issue I’ve had is driving a rear wheel drive vehicle on them. Otherwise just lock it in 4×4 and right up. Very impressed.

10. Tomioka Racing Super Slopes

This is for vehicles that are lower and cause less damage than steep incline ramps. It is known for its well-designed ramp that goes for low profile cars and cars that are closer to the ground. It is sturdy, durable, tough, and can hold a heavy weighted car. The material is also lightweight which allows it to be carried around easily.

Specifications:

  • Low profile cars
  • Heavy duty plastic
  • Superior surface grip
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Affordable
  • Gradual incline
Cons
  • Low for a normal race car ramp
  • Narrower than most ramps

Some Amazon Reviews….Got these because I was tired of stacking wood to function as these do. They actually get my car a bit more off the ground to where my low profile jack slides right under my car without rubbing the skid guard like it did with my wood setup. My frame is roughly 3 inches off the ground, and I had no clearance issues on flat ground driving up these, I like the fact that the beginning of the ramp is basically flat, so your tires can grip them to prevent sliding like the wood did all the time on finished concrete. They seem good enough to last a long time, and small enough where you could store them inside your car if needed in case you got a flat or something. I gave 4 stars because of the price. Mass produced plastic ramps with a sticker for $80 is a bit much, but at least this should be a one time purchase.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Whether it be a Race Ramp or not, some ramps really have to suit your intended usage and what kind of vehicle you plan on mounting for maintenance or display. When shopping for the right auto ramp, there are a few product features that you have to consider before purchasing. Here is a short list of what those features are and how you will need to access each to figure out what kind of ramp is best for you.

Ramp Height

For whatever reason that you’re buying a ramp, whether it be for displaying or performing maintenance on your vehicle, the amount of clearance that the ramp provides you is important. You need the right amount of height to ensure that you can safely maneuver under your car without being injured.

Ramp Width

Having a wide enough ramp that accommodates the width of your tires is important for several reasons. When you are driving up the ramps, you have to make sure that your wheels are centered with each ramp so that the weight of the car is evenly distributed. If the ramps are too narrow, then there’s a chance that your vehicle may fall off the ramps. If the ramps are too wide, then it will be increasingly harder to drive up the center of them.

Maximum Weight

Knowing how heavy your vehicle helps you choose the ramp that can withstand more than that weight. It’s always safer to purchase ramps that can handle and withstand more than your vehicle’s weight because then it’s safe to assume that your car can safely rest on top of the ramp without it losing its structure.

Construction Materials

Made out of a variety of materials, the top choice for a ramp’s construction is either aluminum and metal because they are the most durable and can withstand larger amounts of weight. Other ramps are made out of plastic, resin, polymer, or composite materials which is okay, but these can only withstand the lighter weights of smaller cars.

Grip

Some ramps are designed with extra traction and grip so that it prevents any slippage from occurring during the mounting process. Especially if your tires are covered in debris such as dirt, water, and snow, that extra traction on the surfaces of ramps allows it all to fall off for an easier experience.

Incline

Especially for low clearance vehicles, you want to make sure that you purchase a ramp that was designed to prevent damage from inflicting the underbody or front and back bumpers of your car. In this case, you would be looking for a ramp that provides a gentler degree of incline so that you can mount your low car without worry.

Tire Stops

The tire stop or end wall feature of ramps assists with the stability of your vehicle when it’s on the platform of the product so that your vehicle can roll up to the top without any incidents occurring. It’s better for everyone if your car can safely rest on top of a ramp platform without sliding over and causing damage to yourself or your car.

How to Use Car Ramps Properly

Whether you plan on using Race Ramps or not, it’s always good to know how to safely and effectively mount your vehicle on ramps so that there are no chances of damage occurring to your car. Here are the steps to safely drive your car onto any kind of auto ramp:

  1. Always work on a flat surface that is smooth and not slippery or wet, if necessary use a carpet or rubber underlay to prevent the ramps from sliding.
