1. Rhinogear Rhinoramps

Rhinoramps have various benefits including their exceedingly lightweight on top of still being very durable. They manage while still also maintaining high portability through their nestable compact design. This proves invaluable for anybody looking to maximize space in their garage.

Relying on CoreTrac non-skid surfaces applied both topside and underside, this ramp prevents slipping of any kind. This allows for maximized safety and allows the ramps to support about 6 tons (12000 lbs) of force. For dimensions, they support tires up to 9 inches wide and have a 17-degree incline. These dimensions make them particularly suited to low vehicles of all types.

Specifications

  • CoreTrac non-skid surface
  • Nestable design
Pros
  • Skid resistant
  • Nestable design
  • Supports 6 tons of weight
  • Cheap
Cons
  • Limited reports of fragility
  • Weight test recommended

Sample Customer Review… These are great because they are fairly lightweight but yet have an awesome weight capacity. I recommend putting some grip tape on the ramp part because the plastic gets slippery if your tires are wet but other than that, these are awesome. They do take up some space in the garage because they are not stackable. If they made them stackable it would take up half the room which is nice but they are much better than the old heavy steel ramps and they tend to slide a little when you pull the car up so be careful with that but if you’re on asphalt it is pretty stable. I ALWAYS put a couple of safety jack stands whenever I am using ramps just in case because you just never know……SAFETY FIRST!!!! You won’t go wrong though if you get these ramps. Good price for a good product!!!!

2. Trailer-Aid Tandem Changing Ramp

An unusual addition to our list, the Trailer-Aid Tandem Tire Changing Ramp is designed specifically to cater to those driving trailers. Although this is true, this product can still be used to mount your low-profile vehicle. The gentle incline that is designed into these ramps allows for a scuff-free lifting experience for your low-profile vehicle.

As proven by the 4.5-inch clearance that this ramp provides, it proves to be of enough height to allow you to do work on your car. The tough polymer that the ramp is made out of proves to support a whopping weight of 15,000 pounds so if your vehicle weighs more, then these ramps are ideal for you.

Due to their material these ramps are also rust-resistant and waterproof, proving to be useful when storing or using them. With two small holes in the front, not only does this feature provide an easier way of transporting these ramps, but it also encourages any dust and debris to fall off during mounting.

Since this ramp was specifically designed for trailers, it may not be preferable to use it with your low-profile car. Nonetheless, due to its gentle incline and strong material, it’s still worth mentioning that Trailer-Aid Tandem Tire Changing Ramps is a product to give a try.

Specifications

  • Created for tandem trailers
  • 4.5 inches of clearance
  • Has a maximum bearing laid of 15,000 pounds
  • Made of lightweight, strong polymer
  • Waterproof and rustproof
Pros
  • Can handle larger loads of weight
  • 4.5 inches of clearance
  • Made of strong, withstanding material
  • Waterproof and rust-resistant
  • Lightweight, allowing for easy portability
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Designed specifically for trailers
  • Doesn’t provide enough clearance for some applications

Sample Customer Review… I needed a good option to be able to change a tire or hub or perform another emergency service easily and safely by myself. This has been the perfect solution. I opted for the plus version to make sure I had the necessary clearance on any terrain. I tested it out a few times when I got it on both concrete and in the grass. On the concrete, it works great and provides more than enough clearance to remove either a flat tire or a fully inflated tire. On the grass, it also provides plenty of functional clearance but due to it sinking some into the soil it was less than when on the concrete. This is where the plus version comes in handy with the extra height. When pulling forward onto the ramp with the front tire of the trailer it is much easier to tell when you have reached the top of the lift and stop. The same cannot be said for backing up the ramp with the rear tire. I have over-driven the top of the ramp a few times and had to start the process again. This is all while alone. With a partner to stand back and watch the process, it would be much easier. So far it has held up to the use and looks to be solidly made. It also provides a stable lift platform due to its extra surface area compared to using a jack which can be more apt to tip over on uneven or soft surfaces.

3. Low Profile Sports Car Lift Service Ramps

A Discount Ramps product, their 66-inch all-aluminum ramps are almost a duplicate of their service stands with the removable ramps. What is different is that these service ramps do not include the detachable ramp if you don’t need it, pricing this product as a little cheaper than their other ramp. Due to their aluminum design, you also don’t have to worry about rust plaguing your product when storing or using it.

Other features included with these ramps are the integrated wheel stops which assist in providing your car with some extra grip and stability during mounting. There are also raised side rails that serve the same purpose, providing some extra guidance when loading your car onto the ramp’s platform. On the bottom of the ramps, there are rubber strippings that help with keeping the ramps in place while you drive your car onto them.

This 66-inch long ramp differs from their other option by having a steeper angle of approach, with an 11.5-degree angle of approach. The objective of this product is clearly to mount your car faster with this steeper incline while also providing a long incline that matches its steepness.

At the beginning of the ramp, it is 14 inches wide and then widens out into 16 inches at the platform. The 7 inches of clearance that this ramp provides is also ideal to conduct oil changes or other car maintenance that you may have in mind. The aluminum material that the ramp is made up of allows it to withstand up to 3,000 pounds of weight, which is ideal for smaller cars.

Although cheaper than most other ramps of comparable size, their 66-inch car lift is still relatively expensive. The welds on this ramp are said to not be the best and can pose risks of breaking if too much weight bears on top of it. As previously stated before, if you have no use for the removable ramps that they usually offer, then this product would work better for your purposes. Whether it’s to change oil or a tire, this ramp is a great way to service your car the safe way.

Specifications

  • All-aluminum
  • 11.5-degree angle of approach
  • 66-inch length that lifts the vehicle to a clearance of 7 inches
  • Integrated wheel stops with raised side rails
  • Has a maximum bearing load of 3,000 pounds
Pros
  • Strong support material
  • 7 inches of clearance
  • Doesn’t rust
  • Provides extra support
Cons
  • May have weak support
  • Very large and heavy, not as portable
  • Relatively pricey
  • May not provide enough clearance for some applications

Sample Customer Review… These ramps are so well built, that they’ll hold my Dakota, Full-size Bronco, my wife’s Forester, neighbors Expedition, etc, and long enough that I can get my sons lowered (3″ ground clearance) Monte Carlo right up to them. Plus they are tall enough to get most any service that doesn’t require wheel removal done and wide enough for vehicles with large off-road tires plus with large enough side guides not to have to worry about driving off the side, and has a huge end stop plate to keep you from driving off the end. Plus being aluminum, the pair is lighter than one of my old steel ramps (now scrapped), which were too steep even for my wife’s Forester and they will never rust, The only problem I’ve had is that they use a cheap rubber pad on the bottom of the legs where they contact the ground to keep them from sliding, they lasted a week but were easily replaced with some heavier rubber and some good 3M spray adhesive. They shipped quickly and arrived undamaged. I see right now they are unavailable, but I hope that changes because they should be able to sell thousands of these sets for all of us backyard mechanics. They are the only set I’d buy if I ever need another set.

4. Tomioka Racing Super Slopes

Another ramp designed for pre-lifting your car before using a jack or a service lift, Tomioka’s Racing Super Slopes are perfect for doing just that. Specifically designed for owners of low-profile vehicles, Tomioka wanted to produce something that would lower the chances of your car being damaged like it would when you use steeper incline ramps.

Made out of strong plastic – the same plastic that Black Widow uses – these ramps are tough enough to withstand the weight of your vehicle. The plastic allows this product to be portable due to its lightness, meaning that it’s very easy to store and bring along.

The plastic makeup of the product also provides just the right amount of sturdiness and quality you need to mount your car. Its gentle slope is perfect for lifting your vehicle until your wheels rest on the platform and hit the small end wall.

With a clearance of 3 inches, the Tomioka ramps are good for when you have the other tools needed for lifting your car higher, such as a jack or service lift. With a ramp track of 8 inches wide, these ramps are only able to withstand tire widths of 8 inches maximum. These types of auto ramps are the best for a quick and easy fix ready for your vehicle whenever you need it. Since the price point of this ramp is lower, it may be worth giving this Tomioka product a try.

Specifications

  • 3 inches of clearance
  • Made out of strong, heavy-duty plastic
  • Strong grip track surface
  • Small end wall that assists with tire stopping
  • Withstands a tire width of 8 inches maximum
Pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Lightweight, allowing for easy portability
  • Great gripping surface
Cons
  • Doesn’t provide enough clearance for some applications
  • Narrow ramp track

Sample Customer Review… I love these. You wouldn’t think 2.5” would make a difference, but it does. I use them all the time. Super easy to do with no assistance. Like others have said, it’s hard to tell when the car is all the way on, but the angle is so small that you can easily e-brake it and check. I’m planning to buy a second set so I can put all four wheels on them any time I do maintenance. They’re narrow, but that doesn’t matter. They are wide enough.

5. Cusco A517 SL99 Ramp Set

The Cusco Ramp Set is a blue color made up of an ABS plastic material. Due to the gentle incline that this ramp set provides, it proves to be universally useful for all low-profile vehicles. What is important to note is that the amount of clearance that these ramps provide is just enough to give your car a pre-lift for the use of a floor jack or service lift.

The two-piece detachable design of the Cusco ramps requires some assembly before use but allows you to detach that second piece to make room for a proper jack placement behind your tire. Due to the lightweight material that these ramps are made up of, it makes these ramps highly portable. They even have small end walls for assisting you in knowing when your wheels have reached the platform of the ramps and to prevent your vehicle from falling off. These ramps have a design for flexibility and can accompany any customer looking for a plastic ramp.

An issue to consider is that this ramp is entirely made up of plastic and doesn’t have any rubber or anti-slippage footings. Under a heavyweight, the product can deform and lose its structure and may slip out under the car during mounting because of the lack of a non-slip bottom. Due to the limited information provided about the Cusco Ramp Set, this lands the product in the last position of our list for the best ramps for low-profile vehicles.

Specifications

  • Detachable two-piece design
  • Made of plastic, ABS material
Pros
  • Lightweight, allowing for easy portability
  • Detachable design
Cons
  • Doesn’t provide enough clearance for some applications
  • Limited information is known about the product
  • Material not well suited for heavyweight vehicles
  • Doesn’t have anti-slippage footings

Sample Customer Review… This is what I can say about these Cusco Jack Assist Ramp Set. The usual perennial problem of the rear caliper hand brake is that it easily gets loose overtime or a weekend of a track day. It took me before about an hour to jack, lift remove tires and adjust the rear hand brakes. With these jack “assist” ramp it only took me about 20 minutes for both tires, effortlessly and without breaking a sweat. Be mindful that these are “assist” ramps only or for you to easily put a jack under the car. They are not made to supplant your jack or jack stands, but they are strong enough for our Miata/MX5s to be placed on. You’ll still need to do the usual jack stand after lifting the car for safety. However, I highly recommend these to any Miata or MX5 owner!

6. Race Ramps RR-TJ Trak-Jax

When you’re looking to service, maintain, or display your low-profile vehicle, Race Ramps are one of the best product options in the market. The Race Ramp Company formulated their products to specifically serve owners of low-profile cars because of how often the vehicles have difficulty getting up a ramp smoothly and without damage. Their product utility is renowned by car enthusiasts, racing organizations, and car clubs, as they’ve also even been featured in esteemed publications such as “Car and Driver” and “Motor Trend”.

Race Ramps are made up of a lightweight, foam-like material that proves to be portable, strong, and very easy to use. What’s important to note is that their design also prevents skid marks from being produced when they’re being used in your garage. This makes Race Ramps a more reliable brand for a driver who might not want their sports car to get scratched during the process of servicing it. The Race Ramp’s sleek and simple design also prevents slippage due to the sprayed hybrid polyurea that coats the outside of the ramp. The coating is claimed to be so good that the ramp can also be used on icy surfaces.

Due to their solid grip, these ramps can be placed on any flat surface, including grass, dirt, and sand, and can withstand any vehicle with tires up to the size of 8 inches. The 16.7-degree angle of approach and 40-inch length of the ramps affords all low profile cars the smooth and gradual movement it needs to be hoisted up without getting damaged in the process. Race Ramps provides your vehicle with a 7-inch clearance that you’ll need to do an oil change or general work and maintenance. They support 1,500 pounds per ramp and their maximum weight capacity is 6,000 pounds total.

Usually, the Race Ramp products withstand a long life and are highly useful because of their portability but are also liable to deform and bulge under very heavyweights. Compared to other ramps in the market, Race Ramps are pricier but are worth every dollar because of their great capabilities. With Race Ramps, you don’t have to worry about any damage or scratches that may occur to the undercarriage of your vehicle when you raise it onto the ramps.

Specifications

  • A 30-inch length that lifts vehicles to a clearance of 3 inches
  • 7.8-degree angle of approach
  • Withstands a tire width of 10 inches maximum
  • 100% high density, lightweight expanded polystyrene foam
  • Hybrid polyurea coating
  • Accommodates 1,500 pounds per ramp, 6,000 pounds maximum
Pros
  • 3 inches of clearance
  • Prevents slippage
  • Weighs little which allows for easier portability
  • Very easy to use
Cons
  • More expensive than other options
  • May lose its shape with heavier vehicles
  • May not provide enough clearance for some applications
  • Narrow ramp track

Sample Customer Review… I have a lowered 2003 Cobra, these are perfect for getting just enough height so I can get a jack under the K member. Ive also accidentally rolled off the other side and they are low enough where they didnt damage the side skirts. They feel almost foam like but they are strong. I wouldnt drive an SUV or full size truck on then though.

7. Discount Ramps 6009-V2

The second best ramps that are great for lifting your low-profile vehicle from the ground are the Discount Ramps 6009-V2. These ramps are made of heavy-duty plastic construction that supports the lift of your car. Another visible feature that is important to note is that there is a honeycomb design on the tops of the ramps which provides more stability and prevents the build-up of moisture.

If you’re looking to pre-lift your vehicle so that you can slide a jack or service lift underneath it, this ramp is perfect for your purposes. This ramp provides a clearance of 2.5 inches and allows up to 4,400 pounds maximum. The very low incline of 9.05 degrees prevents slippage and allows for all low-profile vehicles to experience an easy and damage-free hoist up off the ground. The Discount Ramps also feature an end wall that assists in stopping the tires of your vehicle and notifying you that you’ve reached the end of the ramp.

These inexpensive ramps are perfect if you’re looking to give your low-profile vehicle an extra boost above the ground. Due to their plastic makeup, they only weigh 9 pounds and make for perfect portable ramps and even fare well in seasonal storage. What the Discount Ramps lack is rubber or non-slip footings that prevent them from sliding around your garage floor. Nonetheless, if you’re looking for a ramp that isn’t as pricey and you already have the additional tools you need to raise your car, the Discount Ramps are for you.

Specifications

  • 9.05-degree angle of approach
  • 2.5 inches of clearance
  • Has a maximum bearing load of 4,400 pounds
  • Honeycomb pattern which prevents moisture build-up
  • End wall that assists with tire stopping
Pros
  • Lightweight, allowing for easy portability
  • Prevents moisture build-up
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Doesn’t provide enough clearance for some applications
  • Doesn’t have anti-slippage footings
  • Only for low profile vehicles

Sample Customer Review… I purchased these wheel ramps earlier this month and used them for the first time today and they worked perfectly! I own a brand new 2019 Corvette Stingray C7. The clearance between my garage floor and the bottom of the chin spoiler under the front of my car is only 3.25″. These wheel ramps raised the front of my car up to another 2.5″ allowing plenty of room for my hydraulic floor jack to roll easily under the front of my Vette without hitting the spoiler so that I could access the front center lifting point under the car. These wheel ramps have a low enough profile that they can be used behind the front wheel if I need to back up onto the ramp instead of driving forward onto the ramp as I did today. I didn’t try using the ramps to raise the rear of my car today as there is plenty of clearance for my hydraulic jack to roll under the back of my Vette and access the rear center lifting point on the car without the need to raise the car up first.

8. Rage Powersports Service Stands

The third best ramps for your low-profile vehicle are the aluminum service stands that are manufactured by Rage Powersports. Made out of heavy-duty aluminum that’s welded together at the cross beams, you don’t have to worry about rust and the strong material is enough to support your car’s weight. Whether you’re looking to show off or work on your vehicle, these ramps are also an ideal choice for your low-car.

Designed to lift your car 9.5 inches off of the ground, it allows for enough room for you to do an oil change and conduct other car maintenance. Not only are these great for low cars, but they also work well with SUVs or pickup trucks. The gentle incline angle of 7.6 degrees gives you the chance to hoist your car up to a reasonable height without the chance of scratches or other damage inflicting the outside of your vehicle. Due to the aluminum material of the ramps, they’re able to support a 3,000-pound capacity. There are also removable ramps that come with it, which allows you to take them off after mounting to give yourself more room to maneuver and work with.

There are a few notable drawbacks to these Rage Powersport ramps, however. Because they’re made up of aluminum, their price point is higher than what you might be willing to pay for. Although the purpose of the ramps is to accommodate lower-profile vehicles, the gentle incline causes the ramp to be longer than usual. This can pose an issue for cars with a shorter wheelbase because you may have both the front and back wheels on the ramps.

One other issue to consider is that the removable ramps don’t have a secure attachment design, meaning that there is a chance it may come loose while mounting your car. There is also a lack of buttressing or support throughout the ramps which further lowers the overall stability of the Rage Powersport product.

Although Rage Powersports had low-profile vehicle owners in mind when designing this product, there are substantial drawbacks that are important to consider before purchasing it. Due to these cons, this lands the Rage Powersports ramps at number three on our list for best ramps for low-profile cars.

Specifications

  • Made of strong aluminum
  • 7.6-degree angle of approach
  • 9.5 inches of clearance
  • Has a maximum bearing load of 3,000 pounds
  • Two stands that are 24” long and 16” wide
  • Removable ramps that are 73.75” long
Pros
  • Strong support material
  • 9.5 inches of clearance
  • Doesn’t rust
  • Removable ramps to accommodate the gentle incline
Cons
  • Poor attachment design for removable ramps
  • Very large and heavy, not as portable
  • Lack of buttressing and support
  • Very pricey
  • May pose issues to vehicles with shorter wheelbases

Sample Customer Review… My high expectations were happily exceeded by the quality of construction and the wide than expected ramp width. The welds look good and the thick aluminum walls make these ramps super robust. Overall, the quality of craftsmanship is quite good…well worth the high-end price point. My ramps were also packaged with care. I bought these for my low exotic car, but now intend to use them on my truck and farm tractor too.

9. Nicky Nice Solid Steel Auto Ramp Set

The Nicky Nice Solid Steel Ramp Set is one of the most durable ramp sets on the market. In-built traction holes, safety ribs, and a powder-coat finish allow for extreme safety and durability in comparison to its contemporaries. Quite popular for a variety of vehicles with its 3.25 ton (6500 lbs) weight rating. Its all-steel construction also allows for a long-lasting ramp set here.

The only major downside is that this particular set has a higher lift than the rest on the list. With no anti-skid material applied to the underside or topside of the ramp set, some caution is required when mounting and dismounting the vehicle.

Specifications

  • 3.25 ton (6500 lbs) limit
  • Durable powder coat finish
Pros
  • Rugged design
  • Built to last
  • Support up to 3.25 tons
Cons
  • Steeper incline
  • Heavyweight
  • Not portable in design
  • Zero anti skid treatment
  • Pricey

Sample Customer Review… I was surprised by how big and thick these were. They seem much more substantial than my old ones and look better than the ones you see at your AutoZone-type stores. These things are nice and wide which allows for my large truck tires to fit on them comfortably and provide ample amount of room now to allow me to change the oil to my truck.

10. BISupply Vehicle Service Ramp Set

The BISupply Ramp Set is a 2-pack set that allows up to a maximum of 2 tons (4000 lbs) of weight with its design. Its design raises the vehicle up to 6.3 inches above the ground, making it ideal for use in vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, belt swaps, and other car fixes. The set uses heavy-duty plastics and its wide 11.5-inch design to withstand multiple vehicle types.

The surface maintains perfect traction and uses an anti-skid surface to prevent any forms of movement across the ground in your garage or workspace. The material having high durability has a low impact on the weight. This allows the ramp to still be easy to move and carry for any reason.

Specifications

  • 2 ton limit
  • 2 part system
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Portable
  • Variable vehicle support
Cons
  • Steeper incline
  • No printed specs

Sample Customer Review… At 6.3″ rise, that is not a lot but is enough for oil change and transmission fluid change. They are very sturdy well made and much lighter/easier to maneuver than the taller steel ones I had. But the biggest point is that the dam on my Lexus SC430 and 2007 Jetta obstructs taller ramps causing problems. With these, they fit right in front of the wheels and I can drive straight on.

Buying Guide: Things to Consider When Purchasing Car Ramps for Low Cars

When choosing the perfect ramp for lifting your low profile vehicle, all of our first concerns are whether it will be easy to mount and if your car will be damaged in the process. It’s also important to buy the right type of ramp to minimize the chances of your car accidentally falling or slipping off of it.

We all have different reasons for purchasing and using ramps and each product is distinctly different from the other. How do you know which kind of ramp suits your needs the best? Here is a list of ramp product characteristics you should consider before you purchase.

Grip

When driving your car onto a ramp, the product must have enough grip to guide your vehicle up onto the platform without any slippage occurring. Some ramps use grids or grooves on the surface of the ramp to encourage water, dirt, snow, and other debris to fall off while also providing your vehicle with some support.

Incline

Especially for lower profile vehicles, whether how gentle or steep an incline is can make or break your decision to buy that kind of ramp. If you have a car that is closer to the ground, you might want to look for a low rise ramp that will make sure nothing gets scratched. For vehicles such as sports cars, there should be a lower angle of incline so that the front or back bumpers don’t get damaged while mounting and unmounting.

Tire Stops

Also called end walls, tire stops are important to prevent your vehicle from rolling off of the ramps when it reaches the platform. This offers additional stability and support for your car when it’s resting on the top of the ramp while also preventing accidents and other damage.

Ramp Height

The amount of ground clearance that a ramp provides will dictate whether it’s safe for you to work underneath the vehicle and if you’ll require a jack or a service lift to mount your car higher. What’s important to remember is that there is the possibility that parts of the car will be hot while you work, so it’s always helpful to have that extra space for maneuvering.

Ramp Width

The ramp width should be wide enough to accommodate the size of tires that your vehicle has. If it’s too narrow then it’s more likely that your car will fall off the ramps and cause an unnecessary accident and damage. It’s also important to center your tires on the ramps when mounting your car, so the wider the ramp the more challenging it will be to center your vehicle.

Ramp Length

The more gradual the incline, the better for your low-profile vehicle. If you have a garage that has a lot of space, then a ramp with an extension may be helpful because it allows for a gentler incline. You should not choose a ramp that has an incline greater than 20 percent.

Construction Materials

Car ramps are made up of different materials, many of them either plastic or some type of metal. If you have a heavier vehicle because it’s bigger, then aluminum or metal car ramps would be preferable. Plastic and polymer products are also strong but are lighter in weight, easier to store, and easy to bring with you on the go. Both metal and plastic car ramps are safe for us.

Max Weight

When purchasing a car ramp, you have to be mindful of choosing one that supports weights higher than your own vehicle’s curb weight (which is the weight without cargo or passengers). If you choose a ramp that does not support the same or more than your car’s weight, then you can damage the ramp and your car.

How to Use Car Ramps Properly

Car ramps are sturdier and easier to use than jack stands but it’s always important to know the steps needed to use ramps safely. Here are the steps to take when using your ramps to prevent causing damage to your vehicle or yourself.

  1. Always work on a flat surface that is smooth and not slippery or wet, if necessary use a carpet or rubber underlay to prevent the ramps from sliding.
  2. Position the ramps so that they barely touch the tires but still align with the center of your wheels.
  3. Before driving onto the ramps, make sure your steering wheel is centered.
  4. Carefully apply pressure to the gas so that your vehicle slowly ascends the ramps, if you have to, use the parking brake while pushing on the throttle to prevent the car from lurching forwards.
  5. Once your tires hit the tire stops at the end of the ramp’s platform, use the parking brake to prevent the car from rolling off of the ramp.
  6. Use wheel chocks and place them before each wheel to provide extra stability.
  7. You are ready to work on the underside of your vehicle!

Conclusion

Your low-profile vehicle has to be treated with the best care, especially when you’re mounting them onto a ramp to perform some maintenance on it. Our top pick for the best car ramp for low-profile cars is the Race Ramp RR-40. They are lightweight, provide a lot of traction, and provide just the right amount of clearance.

Although this is our recommendation, it’s important to purchase a ramp that is best suited for your kind of vehicle so that you can feel safe and comfortable while using it.
